- President Trump's new tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China are set to take effect Tuesday, but they've prompted pushback from members of Congress and impacted industries. CBS News correspondent Natalie Brand has more.

Canada is not "taking advantage" of America as trump says - we are taking CARE of America. We provide essential goods and services to all of you - 90% of electricity, 61% oil, 49% of grain comes from Canada to name a few. These are necessities. We can live without American whiskey and orange juice, can you live without electricity, gas and food ? Because it is not Canada or Mexico who pay Trump tariffs - it is YOU. Americans pay import tariffs. It is a tax on yourselves. On all your essentials. At LEAST 25% all across the board.

American alcohol has been pulled from all stores and restaurants across the country. American made products are being pulled off the shelves. People are banding together to buy "anything from anywhere except the USA". People are cancelling vacations in the USA. Even the anthem is being booed at sporting events. Never seen anything like it. Trade with America is done. We will sell our resources elsewhere as the USA has been shown to be an untrustworthy trade partner. Just wait for Canada to sign new free trade agreements with the EU, Mexico, Commonwealth countries and Asian markets.

They then refine it and sell it, making 300b profit on that same oil/gas. This is a prime example of being ungrateful about having it good on the trade front... Canada will suffer in the short term, massively. But hopefully it wakes up our leaders and they build refineries, pipeline and we start exporting to other markets. 75% of our exports are raw resources that are vital to every country, Oil/gas, steel,alum, lumber, uranium, lithium etc. if the US don't need those , well I am sure China, India, the EU, Japan and the list goes on will take them. Is it more work and logistics to get done? sureee... But clearly our lazy and convenient way of dealing with the US isn't wanted.

I am totally against Trump and his "return to the Gilded Age" strategy but Canada only spends 1.3% of its GDP on Defence, compared to over 3% in the USA and most EU contries have upped their defence spending to at least 2% since the war in Ukraine. As a NATO country, Canada should step it up also.

We’ve cancelled Netflix, AppleTv, and Prime. Grocery shopping will no longer be done at Walmart and plans for a US vacation have been cancelled. Shopping for building materials will no longer be done at American-owned stores. So, just me and my wife are redirecting $20,000 to $30,000 of our spending from American-owned businesses to Canadian-owned businesses.
