    Insulin pumps are wonderful machines for diabetes, for travellers, for business person's in a hurry for business meetings and conferences, for active people, for oldies, I think what's needed is the people's awareness of this device because the more people uses that the more the business competition and the prices of those machines can be adjusted to reasonable prices due to business competition, people's awareness is also a form of marketing strategy.

    Just tried this set today for the 1st time. I needed a longer cannula than what the auto soft XC’s have. Hopefully this one works out. So far it seems to be fine 👍

    when i first got my tslim, they sent the varisoft instead of the autosoft 30 i requested. however, i now much prefer the varisoft because i like being able to control the insertion without it springing right at you :)

    Why is the introducer needle so loooooooong, compared to tandem auto inserters, or other companies' non-auto?

    • @toddmartin2822
      @toddmartin2822 3 года назад +1

      The best way I can explain is with the auto. You can put it in at the wrong angle super easy. It’s a poor design on the auto part set level or feet... the Vari makes that not a problem and the angle of insertion demands extra length. Very different than straight in 90 sets. Hope it helps best wishes

    • @toddmartin2822
      @toddmartin2822 3 года назад +4

      The extra length is because the needle is traveling at 30 degrees and it takes more length to reach su cutaneous tissue at 30 degrees. Debatable less painful to some. Think of it like a TV screen. It’s longer than it is tall. Draw a line diagonally and one straight the same height, side by side. The diagonal is longer but same depth... lol trying to help

    I find that going away from the tummy button is much smoother and thus less painful than going towards it like in the video.

      I use the sides of my thighs, lower back above the waistline, shoulders (middle and rear), and back of arm (tricep area).

      If you have muscle tone some of these won’t work out as well until you perfect getting it to stay sub cu and not in the muscle or above the fat barrier. Using a angle infusion set. That’s my body type in some areas and my experience. The pump is amazing I know that much and the gentleman above is correct

    Is there a gadget to insert the needle into the body instead of doing it manually?? And why is there a separate tubing? I’m considering changing from Medtronics pump, but the extra tubing seems strange.

      I changed from Medtronics to Tandem this past November. I was using the Silhouette infusion set with Medtronics/Minimeds inserter. The two infusion sets are virtually the same except for the inserter needle handle. The Tandem doesn't have the two recesses in the handle as does the Medtronic. I found out that removing the two small extensions or "teeth" on the upper inserter "jaw" of the Medtronic inserter you can use it to insert the Tandem infusion set. Use the same procedure as the Medtronic Silhouette. If the Tandem inserter needle had been turned over no modifications would have been necessary but you can't turned the Tandem needle around to accomplish that. Carefully using a sharp knife or even an emery board can be used to remove the "teeth" a bit at a time until they are flush with the upper jaw.

    How do I know if I put it in the right angle? I decided to try new ones and they gave me these to test and I definetly like the way these are inserted better but I do fear that I put it too vertically to the surface :/
