@TheMrzeiten Yo! Has this version ever been released on vinyl? I have the one from Phats and Small on wax but can't find this version with the different vocals. Do you have a digital copy you can share? Need it soso badly for a gig
@@artprojects6137 That's because the "Dance With U" sample is what I'd like to call a "Sample Whore". That same violin riff shows up in over 100 songs. Not even kidding either. It's like part of the French House Starter Park. It been use so much, there has been at least 9 different time a song using that sample charted lol.
@@AfternoonLemon Cheers man, I never knew this. From what I can see, The Captain came out in 1996, well before this or AvH's. Again, thanks for introducing it to me, even after 20+ years as a house DJ I'm still finding great tunes that are new to me. Back to the original point, to be fair, sampling is fair game and nobody can really argue if another producer has more success using the same sample since they don't own the track in the first place. There's many advantages of conflicts over who sampled something first...Eric Prydz/DJ Falcon, Junior Jack/Dave Armstrong, to name a couple. Personally I always preferred the Phats & Small one, as it used more of the sample, but if I'm being honest (as a working DJ for many years) I can probably count the times I've played this one on my hands, whereas the AvH one is what people wanna hear and I'll reach for that 95% of the time.

@@DisplacedRecordings Cheers. I wondered who they both sampled. Both are an example of how to sample properly.
@@leonbanks5728 Carrie Lucas - Dance With You !!! It's that killer strings loop

It was on white label only, most likely due to copyright issues with the Love Sensation sample
I'm not sure if you think about it like me but the second version that sounds similar is Armand Van Helden - You don't know me 😉
@@pufthouse6566 Found the record a while ago on discogs, got it last week. 😉

So who was the original one? Phats & Smalls or Armand Van Helden (You dont know me)?
Armand Van Helden, but he sampled "Dance With You" by Carrie Lucas.
They are both actually sampling "Dance With You" as the backing track. Both are originals using the sampled backing track
Neither. Armand got the sample idea from here - ruclips.net/video/-2otXsOS8w8/видео.html
