It would be such a MISSED opportunity if the original Hong Kong cut of Rumble In The Bronx is not in the new Blu-ray release! I've been hoping for a new Blu-ray release of Rumble In The Bronx that has the original HK cut for a long time.
I suspect WB will put out the original version on Blu-ray at some point, as they did with DM2, the question to me is really when will that happen, and will this HMV version be a restoration of the original version from WB or just a rerelease of the international cut that's already available?

Fingers crossed 🤞 for Rumble in the Bronx - definitely one of the last holy grail for myself. Alongside Police Story: First Strike. I'll report back, once know more information - glad you liked Mr Nice Guy release 👍 great editions from HMV and most thing important thing is the film itself.
I love Mr. Nice Guy so hard, and I love that HMV release! Thanks again for sending it my way. I have a Taiwanese DVD of Rumble that is uncut, I watched the first 30 minutes or so at some point and then, classic story, my hard drive crashed and i lost the custom version I had made with English subs, which are not on the DVD, and I never finished watching the extended cut.

Rumble in the Bronx was my first exposure to Jackie Chan. I saw it in a 2nd run dollar theater and it blew my mind.
A lot of kids in my school saw Rumble when it came out, which is how I first heard of Jackie, but my parents wouldn't let me see it because it was rated R. When First Strike came out I saw that one straight away and fell in love with Jackie.
I hope we can get at the very least the original HK cut of Rumble with this even with no features. The movie always comes first.
Totally agreed there. I'm always happy to have movies. The bonus features add a lot to the experience, but the movie always comes first for me.
I bought both Mr. Nice Guy and Drunken Master 2 from Warner brothers because they both were the uncut HK cuts and restored in 4k so from ocn so they say but I think they look amazing given all the previous cut versions and little effort for so long. I have been a Jackie Chan fan for most of my life. To finally see his movies get the treatment they all always deserved is such a joy for all of us! Also Rumble in the Bronx has always been my favorite JC film next to Police Story.
You're spot on with this: it's such an incredible time to be alive for fans of these films who have been watching them in such bad versions and presentations for so long. Huge respsect to the blu ray labels that are putting out these restored editions, especially the ones with all the bonus material and new artwork etc.
Rumble is such a fun Jackie movie - don’t tease us - release the HK cut!
It's been years since I've rewatched Rumble and I've never actually seen the full uncut version - I saw the first 30 minutes of it and that was it because the hard drive with the version I had on it crashed. Classic story. Anyway. Yes. We need it! So I can finally sit down and watch it!
I wanted to wait until movies like Twin Dragons and Thunderbolt hit the Blu-ray market but was unsure how long that wait would have lasted, so I just added the DVD's both last year as I was desperate to revisit them again. But in saying all that I will easily consider updating both but only Twin Dragons has been announced by 88 Films.
We need a first strike extended cut to be released on blu-ray
There all coming out police story 1-2-3 uncut in UK Mr nice guy extended cut plus loads more armour of God 1-2 some on 88 films and on eureka films

@@theshakter yeah rumble in the Bronx is a great film I've seen some of it more fighting also I got the protector on Blu-ray USA version and HK version looking forward to HK version and police story 2 full version and armour of God 2 full version

The BBFC have recently re-rated Rumble in the Bronx recently & it’s only the 86 minute version. No other version has been listed on their website.
They always have to certify various versions separately, because if a movie has 2 versions, the short version might be certified a 15 but the longer version could be certified an 18, because the extra content might be stronger than a 15 rating.
Even the commentary & extras has to be certified & has had a upped the age rating because something was said that didn’t fit within the age guidelines.
Also it costs money for each version to be certified. £8.65 per minute for packaged media according to the BBFC website.

It's looking like this is not the uncut version, alas. I was hoping WB would dig the full version out of the archive and remaster it they way they did with DM2, but apparently that's not the case for this particular release. I don't know that for sure, though, it's just what I'm hearing.
Tbh, the WB Premium collection blurays have always been the same discs as WB Archive - so I’d imagine the Cine versions (another deluxe HMV branding) will be the same situation. I’m still excited to get my hands on them, the Cine editions tend to be quite limited. To celebrate 100 years or WB HMV are also doing Cine versions of Boogie Nights, One Flew Over, Enter the Dragon, the Exorcist and potentially others to be announced
Hmv exclusive, just relates to the cover art. They put their own designed slip case around the normal release.
Inside the case will be whatever Warner has already/will release.

Yeah I know HMV doesn't do their own editions beyond the artwork and case, but I was wondering whether the exitence of this release means WB is remastering Rumble and releasing the uncut version themselves. I have the Mr. Nice Guy release from HMV and the WB release, which are the same, but it seems as though this edition will be the truncated international version.
This has been a holy grail of mine forever. Rumble has never had a good home media release. Everything is either the New Line cut + dub, cropped to the wrong aspect ratio, has terrible picture clarity, lacks the original sync sound audio, has a blurry incorrect frame rate, or any combination of these! THE movie that brought Jackie mainstream fame in the west deserves so much better. Even if it's the bare-bones Drunken Master 2 treatment, I would be so very happy. We got some amazing lost Bruce Lee releases just this month - and a lot of that footage was said to no longer exist, or even have never existed to begin with. This can't be that hard, and I don't know why this hasn't happened yet.
I think the issue with Rumble in the Bronx is WB owning it. WB is first and foremost a studio that produces movies and television shows and whatever else they do. I imagine the home media division / dept / whatever it is at WB is very small, and probably not an important focus for the people who run the company. And I would imagine the primary focus of the Warner Archive is preserving films WB itself made, that are part of the company's heritage and brand. So movies like the Jackie Chan films they picked up I would guess just don't mean that much to them in the grand scheme of things, yet they also realize the films are assets with a certain level of worth, so they don't want to let them go. So this obviously sucks big time for fans, but it just kind of is what it is for now.
@@hkcinemasociety UPDATE: The HMV synopsis describes Jackie's character as being, "A Hong Kong cop." The New Line cut omits all mention of this profession. Now maybe they just grabbed a stock synopsis off the internet, but this phrasing just gave me some hope!

This maybe a stretch but I noticed the Hong Kong lobby cards included in the set so here's hoping that's a hint that it will include the Hong Kong cut.🤔
If I'm not mistaken the WB releases of Mr. Nice Guy and DM2 are the HK versions right? The DM2 release from WB is not the English dub and the Legend of the Drunken Master cut I don't think... So there are reasons to be hopeful, but we'll see
WB has the original English dub of Drunken Master 2 and the Miramax release has the Jackie Chan dub.👍
@@hkcinemasociety The Japanese blu-ray and the German blu-ray include The Legend of Drunken Master English dub but the american blu-ray doesn't only the 94 english dub. Mr. Nice Guy does have it's HK Cut as a bonus feature besides the trailer with the US Cut of the flim.
We definitely need Who am I? because the abysmal presentation of the Umbrella release is an embarrassment

Thanks for the info on the links, I'll check that out. I would love really fancy boutique releases of all the classic Jackie movies, including Mr. Nice Guy and DM2, which WB has put out, but for now I'm happy to have what we have, with hope for more maybe in the future.

I have no idea honestly. I don't think DM2 or Mr. Nice Guy were released on 4k were they? I'm not sure how much Warner cares about doing 4k unless it's an obvious huge seller like Enter the Dragon.
I just think where they can do 4k they should make the offering, Dragons Forever was brilliant!
I have the Buce Lee Arrow 4k boxset and super excited about seeing what they are like. 😊
@@ipman3594 The 4k releases are definitely a big draw for fans, but I believe DVD outsells both Blu-ray and 4k put together, so I would guess the companies need to run the numbers and determine whether or not it's worth putting the effort into a 4k restoration and release. It would be great to have, but I'm also happy with standard Blu-ray for now as well.

I'd take Mr. Nice Guy and Rush Hour over Rumble, I think they're both better films. But that being said, Rumble is one of Jackie's most important films, given the big international release it got and the way it capitalized on his growing international fame to push him to the next level and introduce him to countless new fans.
Got the US imports but I'll have to buy these cause there the UK releases, I reckon be same version as US no extras just film and trailer.

I'm curious whether Rumble is a new scan from WB and the uncut version, or if this is just the international cut and dub of the film released again on Blu-ray.

Honestly for me the dumber move is on HMV for agreeing to put this out. WB put out the full versions of DM2 and Mr. Nice Guy, it just took them a while. Maybe there's af ull version of Rumble on the way. HMV is dumb for agreeing to this just to make quick cheap money, because it's obviously pissing people off.
