Despite all the goofs any made in the first round, she actually would have had 7-8points, basically keeping up with Maggie if I'm not mistaken.
She took off 2 points from unused articles at the start which she shouldn't have, and she forgot to take into account get press pass ability, which would've discounted an unused articles penalty.
She didn't actually do as bad as she thought
She did then completely forget that she's not supposed to pick up face-up tiles during Sunday...
All of that was already noted in the Klingon Subtitles... also, she corrected some of those errors later, so her scoring wouldn't change that much... she played a pretty terrible game :)

13:21 What is the thematic reasoning that you cannot have 2 articles of the same color touching? I kind of understand why you can’t have 2 photos touching, but I was just wondering about the articles - because usually there is sports section of the newspaper, so all sports/entertainment/etc. articles would be together, right? Please help me out in understanding this!
you're not making the sports section of the paper. you're making the front page, and your editor doesn't want potential buyers to think this is only a sports paper, or an entertaiment paper. so they want variety to cast the widest possible net for potential buyers :)
