I've actually been reading a lot of books that YOU recommended this Summer! I have loved all of them so far! For Your Own Good (audio), Bunny, The Wicked Deep, Murder on the Orient Express (audio), The Paris Apartment (audio)... I'm currently reading If We Were Villains and I'm listening to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. 🌴🥥🌴🥥
The ASMR in the beginning of this video is unmatched😍
I loved Finlay Donovan was killing it! Not only could I relate to the main character ( filled divorce last November) but also the book was set in where I grew up in Virginia. It read it at the perfect time where I needed encouragement when stepping into the unknown. Kepp making amazing content! I get so many book recs from you!
-Erin
I finally read My Best Friends Exorcism and did enjoyed it. Other favorites this summer: The Girl Who Drank the Moon, Piranesi, The Empress of Salt and Fortune, Cackle, The Family Upstairs, The It Girl and Ive been bingeing on the audio's of Louise Penny's Three Pines Mysteries. My library finally got Legends and Lattes so Im on the list for it, Yay!
My friend your taste is literally perfection 👌🏻
Everything I hear about Piranesi makes me want to read it more!
🍦loved Finley, such a great character
I really enjoyed Funny You Should Ask. Similar to Finlay Donovan it is a light and easy read with a great story. One of my favorite books of the year so far.
you should read the second part of Finlay series- Finlay Donovan knocks them dead, its equally hilarious & amazing!
I think I might pick it up this fall!! 😊
Loved the audiobook of this one! very entertaining
I didn't really like the first one much but I really enjoyed the second!
Yes! I liked the second one better. And, the third comes out in January. Woohoo!
Ahhhh that book grabbing asmr is to die for
I read Finlay Donovan is Killing It because of your recommendation and I LOVED IT! Thanks so much!! I love light reads like this but at the same time interesting plot enough to get me hooked. It was perfect!
Sourdough reminds me of A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher because of the interacting with the sourdough starter thing.
i can completely relate to your comment about how much you want to read more books that just make you happy like “legends & lattes” & “finley donavan is killing it”!! i actually had the same experience with “the league of gentlewomen witches” by india holton earlier this month, the 2nd book in her “dangerous damsels” series 🤍 it’s such a fun & chaotic book with an achingly sweet romance and a main character (charlotte) whose connection to magic as a witch made my reading experience feel even more impactful :’)
i saw “the wisteria society of lady scoundrels” on your bookshelf and so idk if you’ve already read it but just know, that first book and then “the league of gentlewomen witches” can definitely give you that happy feeling that you’re looking for more; it’ll make you laugh and also maybe feel emotional because the main characters do have their moments, and so that’s a personal recommendation from me 🍦
I absolutely loved Some Kind of Happiness. Thank you for recommending it multiple times because I agree, it was worth the read.
🍦🍦🍦 I’ve been loving local woman missing (which I think was a recommendation from you!) and the midnight library!
*Lessons In Chemistry* was my FAVORITE summer read 🍦
I wanted to thank you for your recommendation of Piranesi. It is one of my favorites over the past decade. Looking forward to checking out some of these books as well.
Love a good cozy coffee chat with this cutie. 😘
Thank you! Also I loveeed your Summerween vlog I just caught up last night!
@@alexandraroselyn awww yay! ♥️ I cannot wait for all the fall content! So ready 👏🏻
Nice wrap up! I couldn't get through the vampire book. I read The Bodyguard by Katherine Center and it easily became one of my favorite books of the year.
Your vibes on your channel ❤️ making coffee , biscottis and books. Perfection. I’ve had a great summer reading The Cartographers , Wrong Place Wrong Time among others . 🍦
I'm reading And Then There Were None next month, I'm really excited to read it.
Just dropping in to say I love your channel. Found you via Gabby Reads and Olivia. You guys always have great content and excellent books recs. This was caffeinated literary perfection ☕📚👍
Dude your videos bring me so much joy ❤️
I read "Some Kind of Happiness", and it is my new favorite book! Thank you for recommending it! 🍦
I'm a big thriller reader, but I really enjoyed A Man Called Ove - completely out of my usual reading - so heartwarming! 🍦
I always love your wrap ups 🍦
Grady Hendrix books stress me out but I also really like them!
I added six out of the ten books you´ve read to my TBR, now I´m feeling so grateful to you
Omg I need more book recs that give the vibe that you describe in the end, because absolutely same! Need those cozy vibes, those low effort reads especially for the Autumn season 🥰
Books and Lala is checking out books that make her think of Finley Donavan is Killing it. I don’t remember her top picks, but Dial A for Aunties is a comedic book with accidental (?) death and hiding the body and antics. Might I suggest watching The Trouble with Harry?! It’s an older movie, very well done, comedy of errors with a little romance and a body that just won’t stay buried!
I absolutely loved 'Finlay Donovan is Killing it.' It was absolutely hilarious. If you haven't read the second book, you absolutely should. It's called 'Finlay Donovan knocks 'em dead.' It's just as fun and enjoyable as the first one.
Yes! I loved the first one and liked the second one even better. And, the third comes out in January. Woohoo!
I highly recommend the tv series Agatha Christie’s Marple. It was on Hulu for a bit and I absolutely loved it
The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, My Best Friends Exorcism, Finlay Donovan is Killing It, and Legends and Lattes I'm definitely gonna pick up after I'm done with my Greek and Norse Retelling/Historical Fiction read-a-thon (Daughters of Sparta by Claire Heywood is honestly up there with Circe and The Song of Achilles for me) also love the cat scare lol
May we have a recs video for books that make you feel good ie legends and lattes, finlay Donovan? 🍦😍
….possibly working on a video with those 2 for fall… 👀
@@alexandraroselyn yaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssss!!!!!! Literally looking forward for your fall videos the whole year, can't wait!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😋😍😍
Ooh yes, I like this idea. 😊
I use the exact same reading journal! Already ordered my next one but in a different color. A great help to review what we've read.
Yes I totally agree!!
It's so fun to see you share about 5 star reads- your enthusiasm for them is contagious! The cozy coffee content was also on point. Cheers!☕🍦
My favorite reads this summer were the change and notes on an execution 💯 both 5 ⭐️ for me.
You make a wrap up sooo fun and cozy 😍 that is unlike everything else you see! Really loooooved this video ❤️
This was so cozy ☺️☕️
Some kind of happiness is a book I’ve wanted to read forever!! Hoping to read it this fall!
We have the same taste in books, so this video and the explanations are perfect. My list just keeps getting longer and longer each time you do a wrap up. Can't wait to read My Best Friends Exorcism and FINALLY The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. I've read a ton this summer but Before We Were Strangers and My Dark Vanessa are definitely in my TOP for this year. 🍦
🍦 Your book recommendations are literally perfection. Any book I’ve read after you’ve said you loved it, has become a new favourite of mine. Glad we share reading tastes because I know I can always trust your judgement.
Thanks to you, I have read Sourdough (LOVED) and The Strangers! I added some books from this video to my TBR, particularly looking forward to Sirens & Muses! 💛☕️
This summer has been particularly stressful for me and I came to the same realisation you did, I found comfort mostly on rom-coms, they seem to be the only ones that lighten up my mood and take my mind out of life itself for a few hours. Finlay Donovan is Killing It will certainly make it to my TBR
Thanks for the recs!! 🍦
Your videos are such comfort! This was so beautiful and cozy!
Love that Agatha Christie love, she’s got such a way with her writing! I recommend The Stranger by Harlan Coben, his thrillers are so engaging!
I really want to read Legends and Latte’s now!
Im starting on my Agatha Christie journey next month! So excited for it. I recently read The Agathas and loved it, i had such a fun time reading it. 🍦
I think I’m about to reorganize my bookshelf by mood 😂 so basically my own curated genres
My two fave books are The Last Monster by Ginger Garret and A Monster Calls
Two very raw and real stories, with monsters to make a point.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Ur so funny! I love biscotti too guurrll!! ❤️ yumm
I legit had no idea Southerner's Guide had a vampire based on a serial k/ller and had children as the main target until this video. This book has been alllll around booktube and no one has mentioned either of those things. This just flew way up my tbr pile.
Love love love the Findlay Donovan books! Can’t wait for the third one to come out. Hope you have a wonderful weekend ☺️
I will start Legends and Lattes this weekend and I can't wait 😍 Some of the best books I've read this summer are The Thursday Murder Club and the sequel The Man Who Died Twice, Dark Matter, Last Night at the Telegraph Club, and The Reindeer Hunters (Norwegian historical fiction). It's been a good reading season 🍹
My favorite book this summer so far has got to be The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. It's so funny and so well written! 🍦
I greatly enjoyed it also.
I am down for cozy, happy and funny book recommendations! I just finished Finding Dorthy and The Four Winds. Both were great.
No one else knew about Some Kind of Happiness when I read it, I loved it!
lol the cat moment 😂😂😂😂 that was funny, cats man... 22:20
Your videos are always so comforting!
Omg!! I was so looking forward to a video from you today!
I was literally binge watching the ones from last year!
You rock! ☺️🧙🏼♀️💜🍦
🍨 My favorite book of the summer is Interstellar Pig by William Sleator. It's teen sci-fi. There's a bit of 1980's-style misogyny, but it's about a cosy beach house in the summer and a teen who would rather read books or play board games than anything else.
I would recommend ‘Halloween Party’ as your next Agatha Christie read (perfect for October) - also try out some Daphne Du Maurier which are very atmospheric - Jamaica Inn or Frenchman’s Creek. - more ‘classic’ English fiction
🍦 Perfect cozy video! I loved Finlay Donavan is Killing It, and I remember enjoying Sourdough a few years ago. Lake vacay is coming up for me, and I always gift my MIL a new book before we leave. Perhaps I might get her Sourdough this time, a cozy low stress read.
I have been curious about Sirens and Muses but haven't heard much about it. In the cart it goes! 🍦🍨
🍦
I paused this so I can order some kind of happiness. I cried just listening to the synopsis. ❤️
Can highly recommend And Then There Were None and Some Kind of Happiness. Both were great reads. Just picked up Sourdough and can't wait to read it. Thanks for the great recommendations! 🍦
So glad summer is almost over!! 🍦
Yeah me too
Same lol
I loved Finlay Donavan is Killing it… 5⭐️for me too…it was so funny in places🍦
🍦 thank you ! 🙂
I just finished The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan and I absolutely loved it! Nina has my dream job! 🍦
I’ve been meaning to read that for such a long time!! Glad you liked it!! :)
@@alexandraroselyn oh it’s such a feel good story. I think you’d really like it!
I just finished All the Ugly and Beautiful Things by Bryn Greenwood and it's one of my fav books of all time. 🍦🧁🍨
🍦 Love your wrap up! So happy I found your channel.
I can't wait to watch it! I love all of your videos! ❤
Aww thank you!!
Bestie this is lovely. It’s storming really hard at my house and this was so nice to drink coffee with. 🌸
🍦🍦 Loved hearing about all your recent reads! One that I've read this summer that I really enjoyed is The Counselors. The atmosphere in the book is amazing! It felt like I was at the camp experiencing everything that was going on. It's a great book to transition from summer to spooky season! I also read these Grady Hendrix books in the same order you did and decided I was going to read all his books because I loved them SO much! I read The Final Girls Support Group by him this summer as well. I didn't like it as much as My Best Friend's Exorcism or The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, but it was still worth the read and very enjoyable!
I REALLY want to read My Best Friend's Exorcism, mostly because of the friendship element. But I'm scared to death of horror books. Thank you for these wonderful reading recs.
🍧🍦❣
Oh I totally feel you! I think a good gage is Stranger Things! If you can watch that and enjoy it you’ll love the book, if you think that show is too scary I’d skip it! :)
Thank you again!! 💛
Loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue the last 6 chapters made the whole thing worth it. I actually cried 🍨
Just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures and it was so heartwarming 💕 🍦
Oh I'm on RUclips at the right time. Yay!!
Love all your recommendations! Thank you for being so cozy and fun to watch! 🤍🍦
Picked up Sirens & Muses after seeing you talk about it as one of your “most anticipated”. Reading it now & am really enjoying!
Lexi! I just read both Grady Hendrix books too (I had no idea you were too) literally the greatest stories. I was telling my moms about them (she grew up in the 70s) and I describe Hendrix as what Stephan King must have been like for her generation!
I can’t wait to read Legends and lattes!! Absolutely love your content 💗🍦
I read and loved Finding Fortune by Delia Ray. It’s a cozy middle grade mystery. If you enjoy low stakes mysteries (non-scary) with wonderful atmosphere, this is for you. Because of the cozy vibes, it is a calm read. Highly recommend!
I'm so glad that you read so many good books Lexi! I really wanna read Legends and Lattes in fall because of you🍦🍨
Ahhh I love hearing that Laura!! I hope you end up loving it!!
@@alexandraroselyn I hope so too! I'll definitely let you know!
🍦 The books sounded really good. 🍦
I've read Beach read and People we meet on vacation both by Emily Henry and I really enjoyed them. They made.me feel good, similar to what you're describing with Finlay Donovan is killing it. ❤️
🍦Cheers to summer!
Finlay donnavin.. hearing about it so much so have to check it out 💞💞💞 🍦🍦🍦
My favorite book so far this summer is In Other Lands! Also, Fence Vol. 5 that just came out is GOLD as always ❤🍦
IT CAME OUT?!?! Omg I have to go to the store thank you!!
Great list! I loved Finlay Donovan 5/5 for me. I'd love a list of favorite Audio books since I spend so much time in my car. Thanks! 🍦
I’m running behind on your videos I usually already have them watched but I just been busy but happy I’m starting to catch up.😎😎☀️🌻👙🍉🕶⛱🧴🩱👗
I just ordered Legends and Lattes - I cannot wait to pick that one up! My favorite reads this summer were Search by Michelle Huneven (a surprising story about a church committee brought together to search for their next minister - these folks all get to know each other far more than they ever wanted, absurd power dynamics and recipes!) and on audio Musical Chairs by Amy Poeppel (CT Countryside summer plans upended and hilarity ensues). Now I am ready for all the fall reads! 🍦
I love hearing your reviews! I’m definitely adding a few to my ever growing TBR list 🍦🍦🍦
I'm reading Book Lovers and loving it so far. This summer I have read the American Royals Series by Katharine McGee. That series is incredible, I definitely recommend it.
I hadn’t heard of Sirens & Muses before, that sounds so good! Love your videos as always ❤️😊🍦 my favorite thing I’ve read this summer is The Extraordinaries by Tj Klune
so many books added to my list 🍦🤓
These book options look amazing! I haven't had the best summer in regards to finding new books. I'm on my 7th book of the summer- 5 of them have been rereads and 2 new to me. I enjoyed all the rereads and didn't like either of the new ones 🤦♀Although I did start unofficially reading "Book Lovers" on a flight last month and I really liked that! September's probably going to be a lot of rereads too, but I'm planning to end the year with a couple very-anticipated new releases and some other new-to-me books, so hopefully I choose some good ones!
SARAHLAND by Sam Cohen was fantastic. 🍦🍦🍦
I have never made coffee that way… but it makes you look so fancy 👀
I read The Grace Year this summer, and it really stuck with me actually, In a good way ❤ Think Hunger Games, meets Handmaidens tale kinda 🤔
🍦🍨 Great video. Will be reading most of these books. As much as I would love to buy physical books I have no space for them so digital will be my option.
For the coming fall season could you do another cozy video but with books that aren't horror and thriller, so like fall autumn halloween vibes but with not scary books. So more of the magical and witchy and spooky but warm and cozy, more of the magical creative light and easy reads. I'm really looking for something kindve like How to Hang a witch, so not scary but magical and witchy and low stress but also has plot twists and some spooky vibes, maybe ghosts or vampires.
