  • When you have scale level data, the best measure of central tendency is going to be the mathematical center, called a mean. Calculating a mean requires adding up all of the data points and dividing by the total number. This requires the data be scale, not categorical. The arithmetic mean is the most common measure of central tendency and the one to report if you can.
