I listened this one at a store today. I was in serious amazement. This iem got so much details, I had with me sure se846 and Andromeda sounded so so so much better. It is definitely on my wish list.
I definitely recommend making the comparison again, but using the Litz cable with both earphones. That cable makes a pretty significant difference in the dynamics response. Just my 2 cents :)
I've had the shure se846 for 4 years now and I've always thought I wouldn't need an upgrade coz I put the 846 as d pinnacle of audio IEMs. Reading up on Andromeda now makes me think twice. How much better are these really?
@@ignishun R&D *extremely* cheap for iems and headphones in general and it really doesn't add much to the cost overall. "R&D" usually comes up to choice of materials, positioning of the drivers, setting up crossover if any, tuning, designing looks and packaging (that believe it or not sells better than sound in the world of idiotic "audiophiles" who pay for piece of cheap wood and 2 cent piece of cheap aluminium, and if there is anything out of leather, even tho it costs 1$ add 200$ to the price. Very few companies had some actual R&D to do (JHA, 1964, Heir Audio back then, Shure with KSE and such) and all that is often done by just one or a couple of people that work at the company anyways, with no expensive machines, factories, testing with money loss, etc.
hi there! i recently purchased andromedas from the b-stock sale but was wondering if you had a preference on them vs the noble k10UAs. I joined that as part of the massdrop x noble K10UA drop but have the opportunity to cancel due to them messing up the shipping dates. how do you think those two stack up against each other? is there a benefit to owning both IEMs? I figure instead I could use that money to jump into the Focal Elex drop :)
How do these compare to the polaris? I mainly listen to pop, edm, and sometimes classical. I'm using them and they sound really good out of the Sony ZX300. The polaris are described as musical but I'm wondering if I lose that musicality with the andromedas? Looking to upgrade pretty soon.
Do you enjoy the AKG K3003? Which of the earphones from Campfire would you say are most like the signature of the K3003? I use HD 800 S at home so I like that the signatures are similar. To my ears the K3003 sound a lot like the HD800S but the cable is starting to fringe on my pair and they don't have a removable cable so I'm looking for something new.
I only tried the K3003 years ago, so I'd have to compare them directly to figure that out. I do remember the treble on them annoying me, whereas it doesn't on the Campfire Audio IEMs, even with the Spiral Dot tips, which make them brighter.
Hi Amos, Love all your reviews, keep up the great work. I am thinking of getting the Andromeda, can you tell me will the hiss much with any of the following, Chord Mojo, Hugo 2, AK 380 Copper and Questyle QP2R? Thanks Anthony
Currawong Hi Amos, Thank you for your reply, a few days ago I came across Campfire Audio in Selfridges London, I listened to the Andromeda and Solaris with my AK380 in Copper with Amp, to my ears both sounded fantastic. I then used both with my Questyle QP1R and QP2R with both the Andromeda and Solaris, I listened for about a hour also going back to my AK380 with the same tracks. To my ears the Questyle QP1R and QP2R were a absolutely fantastic match with both the Andromeda and Solaris, a match made in heaven, they both put a smile on my face and gave me the wow factor. To my ears the Andromeda is more referenced sounding IEM that you could listen for hours with no fatigue, where the Solaris I felt was better all round and took it to another level and was more fun sounding than the Andromeda not that the Andromeda is poor, it is stunning. I think for the price to performance they are absolutely worth the money, what do you think? If you ever get the chance pair them both with the Questyle players. Cheers Anthony
Kay Yu I had both, the Andromedas are vastly clearer and have a better soundstage. the UM 50 Pro are a better choice only if you have fit issues with the Andromeda or if you want a thicker bass response.
At face value I agree with Ryan Soo's response although I think using the same Litz cable with the UM Pro 50 greatly enhances its sound stage and dynamic response! It's still a slightly less thick sound signature, but depending on what you're into, they can still perform to a similar quality if you listen with the better cable.
I have a question, I'll be going into my local headphone dealer on the weekend to demo 3 x models: WESTONE W60 = $1,199.00 (AUD Sale) SHURE SE846 = $1,049.00 (AUD Sale) CAMPFIRE AUDIO ANDROMEDA = $1,599.00 (AUD) Music genres I listen to = Rock, Electronic and some Classical Source = PC/ Samsung S8 and Chord Mojo As the Andromeda is nearly $400-$600 more than the others, should I still get them? Are they worth the $400-$600 difference or should I take advantage of a sale price? Out of the 3 x above, I'm leaning towards the Shure's for performance/ price ratio, but want to know what others think. Lastly, should I dump all 3 and go for the CAMPFIRE AUDIO CASCADE = $1,099.00 (AUD)? After portability and relatively low profile. Thanks for your help. Cheers.
Personally I'd listen to them and decide. Even if you wanted to save money, if in doing so you don't like the sound signature of the model you buy it will be more of a waste of money IMO. Now the Cascade...if you can wear headphones, I'd get headphones personally. I'll have a pair arriving soon, but I gather they are quite bass strong. If they have the Campfire Vegas at the store, that is what the Cascade supposedly sound like.
Thank you for your response. I'll make sure to demo them all if I can. I currently own a pair of the Shure SRH-1540 headphones and very much enjoy their sound. I'll give the Cascade's a shot, but it was just the design of the headband and angle of the audio cable connecters that I'm a little concerned about. The image on their website of the guy wearing them (goo.gl/images/QTc352) doesn't look too appealing to me (i.e. big gaps on either side and the connectors protruding out), but I will demo them nonetheless.
I want to get these or the cascades headphone from camfire . what sounds better to you? Is these more impressive than any headphone in the same price range?
They have a VERY different tonal balance. The Andromedas are more neutral/warm (depending on tips) and the Cascades have a "V" shaped sound signature. "V" = lots of bass, lots of treble, but the mids take a step back. So singers sound like they are further back, but bass notes are strong. It really comes down to what music you like. Andromedas tend to work well with more music. The Cascades can be a lot of fun with all the bass, but it can be overwhelming with music that already is very bass strong. They can also make music that doesn't sound as exciting as it should more enjoyable to listen to.
Currawong yea i just purchase the andromedas just now! . i dont like v shave as much and bassy. I want to hear more any kind of music in general like pop, rap, hip hop, rock and classical
Finoz Music Hey, I listen to the same music type as you and soul songs like passenger ect. May I ask how the andromeda worked for you? And what is your setup using them?
Have anyone know what is best in term of "Portable" to pair the Andros with? I'm thinking of of getting this over the SE846. My setup will be Galaxy S7, Andros, Spotify 320kbps, and I don't know which DAC/Amp to get? Not sure which work better with the Andros, Chord Mojo or DF Red? Any inputs would be appreciate, thanks.
Someone else was asking the same question in the comments on my Mojo video. I haven't tried the latest Dragonfly (I only owned the very original) but it is much smaller than a Mojo. The Mojo has its own battery and is more powerful, so it's a tough call without having tried one myself.
I'm thought about Shure SE846 too, but when heard CAMPFIRE AUDIO ANDROMEDA... it bewitched me! The store consultant gave me the following three for comparison: CAMPFIRE AUDIO ANDROMEDA, Shure SE846 and Westone W80. I'm bought 1st and still happy ))) Photos of my earphones : instagram.com/p/BcvXWPWBy7q/
Diablo II Hi I listed this today and I had with me se846, man there is no competition really! Andromeda got so much detail and composition its not even comparable. Good luck

These simply blow 846 away! They have better overall clarity and superb treble
Is it twice as better because in my area it’s twice the value and Idk which I should go for
I've had the shure se846 for 4 years now and I've always thought I wouldn't need an upgrade coz I put the 846 as d pinnacle of audio IEMs. Reading up on Andromeda now makes me think twice. How much better are these really?
Sell Shure and buy this
This one has the most beautiful bass I have heard.
@@salmonyu3024 It doesn't need to be bass intensive, the quality of the bass is what he is talking about.
what do you think the production cost for such high end IEMs ? and what do you think about ,the reason behind such high market price?
Most of it is clearly dealer mark-up, but a major factor is that they must be hand-assembled.
Plus R&D as well?
@@ignishun R&D *extremely* cheap for iems and headphones in general and it really doesn't add much to the cost overall. If i mostly listen to Jazz , Classical and a bit of soul r&b bass heavy genre. Would Andromeda fit my listening profile?
I reckon so. My listening tastes aren't far off yours. The coherency works well with that kind of music.
Can these compete with full sized headphones in terms of sound quality or is it just a silly comparison?
You don't get a soundstage, so it's a bit silly. You can get a fair amount of detail though, if your source is good.
How well is the fit with these? Im using Lyras right now and thinking of getting Andramedas now . Lyra fit is great so Vegas would be the same fit.
Great review

I've zero experience with the K10U. I recommend checking the About page on my site for a list of gear I have had experience with.

Alright. Thanks for the response. Looking into both the Vega and Andromeda at the moment. :)
David Karlsson Of course Andromeda.
David Karlsson I also recommend isine20 as well.
John Yang I went for the Vegas and I've been super happy with them so far.
Campfire andromeda or Beyerdynamic Xelento better for Pop and Jazz music?
Have you had any problems with water condensing on the surface of the nozzle while using the stock silicone or jvc tips?
No. Was it sweat? I can imagine on a very cold day if you went out for a jog with cold, metal IEMs in your ears that sweat might condense on them.

Hi Anthony, I have only tried the first three and they don't hiss much, if at all. I've never tried the QP2R unfortunately.

Nicely done. Would u say it's better than the westone umpro 50? Thks!

Brendan Liddell Shure 846 is now 888 AUD On sales now, dude😄
Thinking of getting this but sadly sounded "so so" during Singapore CanJam listening thru Pioneer DAP.
Different sources may sound better with iems. I enjoyed with andromeda without any portable amp just dap alone.
hello have you ever heard the Nobles? what do you think of Andromeda against Noble of equal price?
That's a good question. I'm long overdue to review stuff from them.
Currawong We hope it will happen soon ... thank you.
What would you recommend as a source for these? My choices so far are the AK JR, The Chord Mojo w/ smartphone, or the Onkyo DPX1
I've yet to try the AK JR or the Onkyo. The main thing is finding a source that doesn't hiss with them.
Hi how do you compare them with MEZE Rai Penta???
By alternately putting each in your ears and listening to music. Jokes aside, Meze are out of stock.

If it is not in my profile on Head-Fi, then I don't have any idea. head-fi.org/user/Currawong.

By buying both then listening to them. ;)

Buy astell and Kern A &Norma-70
Is this good for metal music? For listening and monitoring
I don't listen to metal music, sorry.
Damn this look like my KZ ZS6. I also have the same Silver Cable.
That's because KZ ripped off the design.
Vs mu ue18s worth it or nah?
You've gotten better at reviews. This one is terrible. You go straight for unimportant details and largely stay there, burying the lede.
Thanks. I've gone back and re-edited a couple of my old reviews, removing a lot of unnecessary stuff. I've thought about re-reviewing products too.
