Another important step in the load development of the Pedersoli 1854 Lorenz rifle musket. With the slight modification of an existing .54 cal bullet mold I was able to find and extremley accurate charge + bullet combo.
Great follow-on from the last video! Your documenting of your journey with this rifle is making a fine mini series!
That is incredible! I’ve never personally seen a black powder rifle group that well. Nice shooting and nice load work up!
My fav channel! Hungary is beautiful.
Another fascinating video from capandball!
Thanks
For what it's worth, the N-SSA shooters using compression bullets have found them to shoot well, but they are very sensitive to having too much lube. I'm told the original Lorentz bullets were used with a lubed paper patch, which let the bullet compress and expand properly. Dip-lubed bullets that have lube inside the compression grooves won't compress and expand properly.
Too bad the N-SSA wont allow paper patch bullets!
4:23 dat look
Well done my friend. That flyer always gets away. Shoot lots and stay safe.
Well done mate! You had a good day and so did I today. Two groups of five shots at 50yds, shooting cast plain base 170grboolits, from my 32-40 Martini Cadet fitted with peep sights, into 0.680" Centre to centre. I'm happy :)
Outstanding shooting and well done with the figuring out the makeup of accurate load/bullet.
Good shooting and dedication.
Nearly 600 likes and not a dislike! That shows a quality channel!
Excellent shooting there and you sure enjoyed yourself.
Amazing, can't get enough of your videos, cheers
Enjoyed it....I really enjoy when you shoot originals...I'd love to see you put a Civil War 3 band Enfield through its paces
The best winter sport
Love the classics.
Excellent video. Love the old stuff so much more interesting than modern arms. I still shoot English sporting clays with a 1886 English hammergun. The scores are no different to my berreta 686e. Sometimes better.
Awesome! Don't you just love the feeling when you finally find the right load for your rifle? When it falls into place it's great. I'm working on a load for my Rock Island 10mm I bought a few weeks ago. I finally found a load for the 165 grain bullets now I'm working on a load for the 180's. It's a little finicky but it seems like it's settling down since its had 200 rounds thru it or so. It's looks like it's going to be an accurate pistol. I think I'm going to take it to do some falling plate work 3 days from today. I'm excited.
Excellent!
Every new video he does a better group :o !
Great video. Do a search on the cast Boolits forum for beagling a mold. You might be able to up the diameter as cast with this method and save the step of bumping up your diameter in the sewage die.
it's so simple and effective it's f#$king beautiful.
open the rear end of it up just like they did during the Civil War so it kind of cups inside and when it opens up going down the barrel it catches the rifling when it's going down but after Smooth Bore it just seems to catch the inside the barrel itself conjugal Brown I guess you could say just like a cone shape but Hollow in the rear end
Beautiful rifle.
Another great video - thanks!
I love you and the work you do!
Wonderful shooting!
I sincerely enjoy your videos.
I was wondering if you would ever do a video on the 1857 Wurttenberg?
There is a great deal of local interest in the Pedersoli 1860 Volunteer rifle It would be great if you could do a review of this classic reproduction.
Balazs, which front sight did you use with this bullet? The tall or short one? I received my Pedersoli Lorenz this week and hope to get it to the range soon. I'll be using the Lyman .542 minnie. Thanks
Balazs, I think you have broken the code for the correct bullet. Is the swaging die a custom made device, or is it also commercially available like the Lyman mold? Thanks!
Hi Mark, I turned that die. Actually adjusted it to exact size from a Pedersoli sizing die.
Wow, you have quite a bit of time into this load by now.
Very Very Good..
Guy, Leonard, at last I have one of these special rifles! Now for the mould for the original bullet. But from where? My usual source of custom bullet moulds in Germany cannot produce the compression example. I do not want the Podwils type. Can you help? Did you have a UK supplier? Thank you in anticipation, Peter.
waiting hunting with lorenz
Love the bullet for the Lorenz, but was it the original load?
super genial
Loading a rifle like that seems very familiar to me, with the ramrod. I think maybe I was a Napoleonic soldier in past life
That is a beautiful rifle! I am in the process of developing a load for my new Pedersoli .451 Gibbs and the bullet weight is going in the other direction, very good results with 500 gr. Lyman. did you happen to try 3F powder in your Lorenz?
You are clearly the master! I dabble in black powder and have hunted with one for some time but you are in another league entirely. Do you ever get to the states?
What rifle would you suggest for long range, ability to take down with medium to large game, and cost? If such a rifle exsists
Super!
If you need help with making molds, dies etc please get in touch, I am happy to help with my machine shop.
2:30 fascinating trick to upsize bullets.
Can you direct me to the video where you used a roll of lead to cast bullets by fireside as soldiers did? I cannot find it.
I have a Pedersoli reproduction Austrian M1854 Lorenz rifle musket. It has a Delvigne style breech. It is this normal?
Nice video.
What bullet mould are you using?
What is that sizing tool you used?
Brazil!
Great video Balázs. Now we just need you to do a video on the AR-15 lol
Gabemando
RUclips would fill its diaper!
Gabemando _ What do you suggest, high school students at 100 metres?
Burlats de Montaigne shit joke
Lol no
Burlats de Montaigne That will never be funny.
Can you make a video about Gun cleaning?
What caps do you use if you don’t mind me asking?
What is the tool you are using to lube your bullets at the range? Also what do you use for lube?
Ben Bateman I caught that too I saw that I've never seen nothing like that what do you Lube the bullet like that so you can get it down the barrel that little Gadget he had we pushed it down into the Barrel to get it lube around it so it'll go down
I asked the same question on a previous video. Its a Pedersoli bullet greaser....very cool piece of kit
www.davide-pedersoli.com/scheda-accessorio.asp/l_en/idpr_174/pre_0/accessories-professional-accessories-bullet-greaser.html
That's a very useful tool. Lets you to use soft lubes without the unnecessary mess.
Your post would be more comprehensible with some punctuation, you know, some commas and periods. Here are a few you can use. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,.........
3ducs, you have way too much time on your hands.
Enfield vs Lorenz which the best?
Both :) I prefere Lorenz because of the smaller calibre, but both of them can be extremely accurate.
Sub-moa black powder, omg
