Man, it would've been interesting if Thorin survived the battle of Dale. He would've discovered the truth about Bilbo carrying the One Ring. Plus, he would join the council of Elrond. I can imagine the conversation he would have with Gimli.

I wish the Hobbit trilogy ended with Balin visiting Bilbo and given a monolog of what happened to Dale, Erebor, and the elves. It could have also ended with Balin expressing to Bilbo his desire to reclaim Moria in the near future.

I can't help but imagine Bombur, who was unwilling to refuse the call of battle as any dwarf would do, going to the battlefield in some sort of combat wheelchair, taking advantage of his weight and body mass to knock out and roll over the easterlings like rag dolls.

Grond but it's Bombur laughing maniacally as he lops off heads from his combat chair.
The chair isn't mobile though - it's his normal chair being carried around by those previously mentioned poor young dwarves. He has an alternate six who swap out every few minutes to maintain efficiency.

Thorins last words always give me pause every time i hear them, they are words of one who has seen everything the world has to offer and also one who has been struck with greed
no matter how you look at it, the world would be a much happier place if we saw more value in food and cheer.... the hobbits live just a gentle life they can live so many life times and never once wonder about the horrors of war or the greed of man
one of the biggest reasons i love Tolkien and his works is that i can go on so many adventures, i personally think he had more adventures he wanted to take us on, i wish we got to see more of his world

Their feet ruffled among the dead leaves of countless other autumns that drifted over the banks of the path from the deep red carpets of the forest.
Still Bombur slept and they grew very weary. At times they heard disquieting laughter. Sometimes there was singing in the distance too. The laughter was the laughter of fair voices not of goblins, and the singing was beautiful, but it sounded eerie and strange, and they were not comforted, rather they hurried on from those parts with what strength they had left. - The Hobbit - Chapter 8- Of Flies & Spiders.

I’ve always pictured Minus Tirith being a place after Sauron’s defeat. As a place that could become a multi race city. To have men dwarf elves hobbits and others living there. Rebuilt then expanded. Having other cities built onto the mountain face like the first to both sides. As well as having large caverns built inside the mountain for protection if needed. This place could become the hub of all middle earth. Becoming a mega city mountain. Where the riches of the mountain shared among those that actually live there and not passing through. Man if it was like this Sauron’s orgs wouldn’t never have breached the gates. Having Men Elf & Dwarfs working together as one force.

    • @Alexs.2599

Only Gondorians really resided in Minas Tirith. The Dwarves helped rebuilt gates after the war but no Elves or Dwarves lived there.

    • @vilisveidis
      @vilisveidis 10 месяцев назад

@@monacoandsiammonacoandsiam2674 to be honest, i was thinking more along the lines of fan art/ Jackson trilogy. There, Bilbo is depicted as poring over books and scrolls, being raptured in whatever histories he could find, as well as writing his own stories. As Bilbo made his mark upon Middle Earths history/ literature, so did Tolkien upon our own contemporary history

    • @vilisveidis

I have also heard theories that Tom Bombadil is a "self insert" for Tolkien, though I find this hard to believe, as Bombadil is portrayed as a happy-go-lucky type fellow who aids the four Hobbits, while Tolkien (in universe, as he "found" these ancient texts then translated them) is more of a scholarly influence on our understanding of his legendarium

@nerdoftherings since it’s a slow time rn with LoTR content can you PLEASE make a set of videos or videos showing the exact happenings during the LoTR movies. Like overview map showing their path and like everything happening in the background. I think those would be amazing videos. Like show what the dwarves were up to and the summoning of Sauron’s armies and the fellowships path. It would be so cool to see everything but picture happening. There is so much stuff normal watchers missed in the movies I think it would be amazing

Dwalin was always my favorite dwarf because he had a 'BlueBeard' bluebeard. Bombur was next then Balin Oin Gloin Dori Nori Ori Thorin Bofur Bifur Fili and Kili.
Also I like Bungo andFolco Boffin (who went home after lunch). Samcho Proudfoot seems nice too. All the Bree hobbits (with their 'botanical' names) are just stunning (Rhudhaur Hobbits). The North Kingdom was in 'ruin' for most of The Hobbit and Lord of The Ring time frame but the dwarves still made use of it. The Hobbit mentions a few detours at North Kingdom inns. So alot was occurring. Where did Grip Fang and Wolf (and Fatty Lumpkin too) come from? Throughtout The Hobbit the dwarves largely ignore Bilbo while in the North Kingdom. But Bilbo says they still saw other dwarves ('ambling by on ponies'). But Thorin in a fit of rage calls Bilbo 'a decendant of rats' which is beyond profound.

I like the little added lore in Lord of the Rings Online, where Dwalin becomes ruler in the Blue Mountains. Seeing him again in the dwarf starting area put a smile on my face and it wouldn't even be to non-canon, since from this video I get the impression, that after the events of the Hobbit, only his date of death, not his whereabouts is known.

Völuspá ("Prophecy of the Seeress") is the first poem of the Poetic Edda, a collection of Old Norse poems. It is preserved whole in two manuscripts, the Codex Regius and the Hauksbók, and partially in Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda. J.R.R. Tolkien was influenced greatly by the saga, most obviously in the fact that most of the names of his Dwarves were drawn from it.
Almost all of the names of the Dwarves of Middle-earth, as well as Gandalf's, are taken from a section of the Völuspá called the Dvergatal (the "Catalogue of Dwarves"). The Dvergatal is contained in stanzas 10-16:

Yay, I prefer this kind of videos the most :) Although I knew most of this (I didn't remember about dwarves accompanying Bilbo mentioned in the end, though), it's a pleasure to remind myself all the deeds of the dwarven company. I haven't seen the map of Moria yet, that's interesting too!

Fascinating that Sauron knew Bilbo had the ring a few years after the Smaugs defeat. Does that imply Gollum was interrogated in Mordor earlier than indicated in "the Two Towers"? Were Lake Town and Erebor untouched by violence while Sauron and Saruman Attacked Gondor/Rohan?

@Nerd of the Rings could you please do a video breaking down the dynamics of Frodo and Sam's relationship based on the book? In the books, it seemed like they began as neighbors, and then later Sam referred to Frodo as his "Master". As far as I can tell some where that is not mentioned in the book, Sam has been tasked to look after Frodo and serve as an extra pair of eyes to back Frodo up and watch his back and assist him in the task that has been assigned to him.

Great question! Those are the 2 most popular options. I think most people assume Nazgul, as Sauron only trusted them with the errand of reclaiming the ring.

It makes for an excellent storyline, but I hate that Thorin, Fili & Kili all die. That would've probably made a huge difference in the events in LOTR. Had they survived I bet Balin's quest and outcome would've been better, I also bet that Thorin, would've been the last to die given his bloodline being so rich.

The book probably wasn't as big as the movies made it. It was probably a diary-sized fat little volume. Also, in the Hobbit, it was mentioned that dwarves, even when heavily laden, can trundle along at a quick pace because of their prodigious strength for their size. (Like ants). Hence Dain's supplied/provisioned/armed soldiers reaching Erebor so quickly.
