I just took mine out yesterday for the first time in a while and I keep forgetting how good it is! It's so much more capable than you'd think for it's size. I have both the 1/10th and 1/16th scale Summit and the small one is just as fun and impressive as the larger one.

Ya the original one was vxl. I had one and it would always brake because the vxl was too powerful in it. You could probably go and buy the vxl summit and just add the body and lights from the brushed one.

Would a 3s 11.1v 5000 25c Lipo battery be enough power for bashing and more speed

A 3S LiPo would not be compatible with the XL-2.5 ESC --however, a 2200mAh 7.4v 2-Cell 25C LiPo Battery would work. To run 3S LiPo batteries, a brushless system like the VXL-3m ESC and Velineon® 380 motor would be needed.
