The first words of 'invest' coming from a text or phone call from somebody you don't know should have been a red flag immediately! If it doesn't feel right-run, don't walk, away from it
The banks already have the ability to alert internally or not proceed with the wire transfer if banker find any suspicious activities going on. I feel sad the banker chose to do nothing.
Okay. Lonely guy. Random stranger woman texted him with something like: hey, blah blah. Lonely guy replied and even though doesn't know the stranger, started to chat, blah blah. Remember he has time on his hand. then he thinks he can trade his money for some "human" "interactions...".
I find all of this hard to believe- if this man is stupid enough to repeatedly wire money to someone who he has never seen nor met, then he deserves to lose it. These stories are constantly on the internet and social media. How could he have never read about one of them??
I don't know. This really is only the victim's fault. Banks have enough problems protecting money to deal with victim issues. In the industry we say security is a shared responsibility
Why is it news? My mother-in-law fell for a scam where they said that she owed money on an old PayPal account and she lost all of her savings too. I'm sorry but I tried to warn her now that she had internet that she need to be careful but she didn't listen and her son didn't push the issue with her. She lost 15,000 which is a lot when you're in your 70s and you can't work anymore.
Wanting to invest isn’t being greedy. There are many legitimate ways to invest from very conservative to very aggressive investment strategies. Investing is a great way to grow your wealth.
Yo! Why yall not covering the man who lost his life savings on Trumps bitcoin? Poor dude lost his and his father's life savings on Trump pulling a pump and dump! YOU KNOW THE GUY! HE'S PLAYING PRESIDENT RIGHT NOW. Yeah, him!! And Musk has all access to the US treasury!!🙄🤣
No matter how lonely I am I’ll never understand sending someone I’ve never seen or met tens of thousands of dollars
@@Kris-sc9oc They tell him his money is being stolen and he has to transfer it into a safe account, which is theirs.
I know - I'm so cheap there's no way. The most I'll ever do is send a little present or flowers or something, but that's it.
Greed

If no familiar name shows up. I let it go to voice mail. Most the time they leave no message. If it's someone I know leaves a message, I'll call back.
Don’t text with strangers, just saying

The guy invested $50k with someone who randomly call a wrong number? This can't be real but I guess it is.
Very strange case. To fully understand it is to fully understand all human traits
Customers are king, the bank would get in trouble not following the customer request.

He could have put that money into 1 month government T-Bills and made 4000$ a month just for letting it sit there.
4000 per month from 70000 ? another scam
Nice math .. fail
Try about $250 per month at 4.25%, and it’s probably closer to 4%
