  • Pushing and receiving pushes is a fundamental part of learning Systema as it allows the study of striking, receiving strikes, and grappling at a speed and intensity that enables each person to study the details. Fast speeds and high-intensity drills are a must for a complete training program for many reasons, but slow training is also a must as it allows deep and detailed study of body connection, breathing, relaxation and movement, of the individual and the opponent. The Systema push drill progression shown here is simply one example.

Thanks Patrick. Miss training with you and the Carolina gang. We need to get together and play some Carolina Pound'em! 🙃 Actually, that could be a fun video.

Much appreciated. I am out of footage for a time now but hoping to get more soon. I have a few more interesting takedown progressions to share.

Thanks John, means a lot. Long time since we last got to train. 2020 was the first year in 19 or so that I wasn't able to visit Toronto. Hope it becomes possible in 2021. If it does maybe we can connect at HQ or somewhere in-between.

@@MarkJakabcsin1 must have a decade of rust on me brother, but post rona, looking to see VV
FWIW the lessons have stuck though - dabbled in a bit of judo and fencing after years off and it just kicked in
It's my knee injuries that are the limiting factor physically, as i found out, but I do conditioning and some breath work, lightened the load on them ;)
