Your keen eyesight is enviable, Sonia. You so often spot things at a great distance! The old Mackay bridge spanning the Sunday’s River is a lovely sight and the twin-towns of Cannonville & Colchester, a delight for this ‘first-for-me’ viewing. So pretty aside from their close proximity to the N2. They reminded me a little of Sedgefield in this regard. I was also impressed with the beautiful trees and gardens! Seeing any and all wildlife is always thrilling to me - those spotted on this marvellous trip were no exception! As always, thank you both for a super start to my day!
Sonia, the gamespotter, she calls herself! 😍🦒 There was so much wildlife in this area and no surprise too since it borders the Addo Elephant National Park. Animal life is always the cherry on top of every trip for us! The Mackay Bridge was an unexpected find and we love those! Thank you for taking this early-morning trip with us! 🚙🤩
Nope! We're not offroaders at all and have no interest in being. This was our 18th trip in a Kwid and we've been on some pretty incredible roads and passes and have seen some cool stuff! 🚙🤩 I'd say about 5% of roads we're not able to travel on. Just the fuel efficiency of the Kwiddie more than makes up for that. A few future trips we'll use a different vehicle for, but they'll always be the exception.
Sent this to my one son in law. He loves Colchester as his family used to go there for their annual holiday. Still one of the cheapest sites for caravan holidays I believe. He will enjoy this!!
I hope your son-in-law is reminded of good times on the old Sunday's River, it's such a beautiful area of the Eastern Cape! 🏕️🌊 Thank you for sharing our video! 🚙🤩
Eastern Cape - what a gem. I loved the old bridge. The properties are of high standard. Nice and quiet to live there. In nature or nature at its best. Thank you for this trip I loved it and also the vegetation. Till the next one seat booked
That bridge was awesome! It may have 'collapsed', but it's still gorgeous and the setting absolutely spectacular! Thanks for coming with us today, you can look forward to two fun trips over the weekend! 🚙🤩
Yup, we certainly have our fair share of giggles when we travel! 🚙😁 My darling wife is so fearful we'll get stuck or submerged or something! 🥰 This one was an easy decision for me though.
All these little gems in the Eastern Cape!! Never really toured this beautiful province. Just zoomed past to PE and East L. Allways wanted to go to Baviaanspoort. Couldn't convince my husband. Hopefully you will get there one day. Will be traveling along in the backseat 😍😎
We're definitely planning on visiting Baviaanskloof in the future, but that trip will require a little more organisation and a few more arrangements. We'll make it happen one day! 🚙🤩 We've heard about it so much, but have never been there ourselves either!
Hi guys another trip with lots of wild life you are are definitely blessed to be able to see so much just driving along the road..Great to see the railway buildings in good nick no wonder there's lots of holiday let's the stunning dunes and the Addo Nat Park. The facilities for fishing amazing with the Reed huts plus mackay and Sunday fishing clubs. Love driving through the suburbs look at the different style of houses the old bridge was great so interesting 1895 .so cute the dung beatles Lodge the Dassies place plus you weren't having a giraffe you saw a giraffes. Lol .Colchester is the oldest town in England founded by the Romans .I was stationed there when I was in the army used to be a Garrison town also home of the army Glass house where I spent a little while lol these little places intriguing great video cheerio till the next one
The wildife sightings were quite incredible, from the giraffe, to the dassies to the mongoose! We loved them all! 😍🦝🦒 The old bridge was fascinating! I wish we were able to drive over it, but at least I was able to walk on it! Your association with Colchester is very cool, you've certainly had a very interesting life and I always appreciate you sharing little bits of it with us! 😁
What amazing trees they are so huge but very very beautiful. Another place I have just heard of but never seen. Just loved it thank you for this amazing episode. ❤
The trees were spectacular in this entire area! 🌳💚 We're so glad we turned off the highway and explored these two villages. It's actually unbelievable what one finds just off a major road! I'm so glad you took your spot up again on our backseat! 🚙😍
Another place down the road from me , been on a Sundays river boat ride, been down the dunes on a boogie board but never driven through the town. Thank you for sharing with us, you're probably driving further away from PE now so can't wait for next gem that you find, thank you & stay safe 🚗
We'll leave those physical activities for you and we'll drive through the towns, that sounds like a great plan to me! 🚙😁 You live in an extremely beautiful part of our country. You're very fortunate to have such an abundance of natural beauty within an hour's drive from your city. 😍🌳
Hi you two! Thank you for taking me along on this scenic trip, starting with ... a station! I have never heard of these places -- now I have even seen them. The green surrounds with some spectacular big trees is impressive, to say nothing of the wildlife popping up every now and again. The green, shady parks indeed look inviting and peaceful. It appears to me, from what I saw parked at the homes, that to be at home in these towns you must at least have a boat. This is understandable, with that wide, wide river and the ocean literally part of the towns. If you have a boat you could also sneak into the river mouth from the sea! This outing really moves me to consider going there for a few days sometime. I'm ready for the next tour! Keep safe!
A lot of things we love in this episode: a station, a bridge, a river, a giraffe, dassies, mongoose, the list goes on! That is why we continue travelling! 🚙😍 Boating is for sure a big pastime and there is an abundance of water sports lovers in these places! 🌊⛵ If you decide to visit, you'll absolutely love it! And, if you're up for the walk, I think the river mouth will be a stunning sight. 👌🏻
Hermitage station is another station sitting there waiting for a train. Ooh that Mckay bridge filled me full of nerves. Shads of Cassandra Crossing. Did you see that movie? Sundays River mouth is so beautiful. Yes,we used to visit all these beautiful places when we stayed in PE. So many happy memories. Yeah...drive under the N2..encounter big puddle...jy wil mos!!Love the dassies...so cute! Pity you couldnt get to the rivermouth. Sounds like een beneukte situatie! But there are many river mouths in the area that you can enjoy. One of our faves was Maitland river mouth, and theres Van Stadens.
We could literally see loco's full of citrus moving up and down those tracks past Heritage Station! 🚂🍊 I haven't seen Cassandra Crossing yet, but will check it out! The dassie family was one of the highlights of the drive through Cannonville, we just loved them! 😍🦡 Sonia is just not able to walk for long, especially not on uneven surfaces, so I'm totally happy to miss out on those places! 🤷🏻♂️
Love your videos. Been to SA many times, but you keep showing places I've never visited. Hopefully, we can get back soon and retrace some of your journeys.
Thank you so much! 🚙🇿🇦 I'm always happy to hear folks from outside South Africa enjoy our videos so much! When you do visit again, consider giving the Eastern Cape a try. The natural beauty in this region will astound you in so many ways! 🌳💚
@@DustBugsTravel The Eastern Cape was the first place I visited back in 2000. Loved the Wild Coast, Port St Johns, Coffee Bay etc. and other places like Queenstown, and Mtata. Stayed at villages such as Ngcobo with the locals. Incredible experiences! Any videos on Eastern Cape?
The Eastern Cape is a rather large province and we've done several visits to towns and places in the province. This entire trip was through a section of the Eastern Cape, so from Episode 319 onwards. You can also check out Episodes 289 to 301 which were also filmed in parts of the Eastern Cape. Then on an earlier trip we also visited some Eastern Cape towns and those you can check out in Episodes 181 to 197! 🚙😁 There are a good few more, so when you're done with those, there will be more to watch!
Hello I'm glad you are enjoying our area. I am in Port Alfred. You mentioned the green bush and veldt. We are in what you can call a green drought, meaning that it rains enough for the bush to florish but not enough to impact on the dams.
You live in a stunningly beautiful area and we loved every single place we visited! 🚙😁 We've heard of the green drought on a prior visit to the Eastern Cape. Before that, we couldn't understand why everything can be so green while water is scarce. We hope your area gets enough rain soon. Thank you for sharing that info! 🌳🌧️
As a child we used to spend every December holiday down at the caravan park near the mouth in Pearson Park (site number2). From the entrance where you were it is a long way down to the mouth.
You must have so many good memories of this area then! 🚙🏖️ The caravan park looked like a great place to spend a relaxing holiday at, you even remember the site number! The Mouth must be a beautiful sight. Thank you for sharing those special memories with us! 🤩🌊
It's cool that you enjoy our videos, thank you! 🚙😁 We've visited a lot of towns in the Eastern Cape, including Uitenhage in Episode 320. There are just so many beautiful places to see and so little time on the road!
Welcome back, I hope your visit to the dentist wasn't too painful! 😨 The wildlife we saw in this episode was in one word fantastic, with such a wide variety from the tallest to the smallest. 🦒🦡 Sonia wasn't keen on that puddle at all, but we were through it before she knew it, so it was all good! 🚙😁 It's rather chilly here, so I envy you your beach weather. Enjoy! 🏖️☀️
Ja mijn 2 kiezen kwamen er vlot uit in het Deventer ziekenhuis, gelukkig 👍🦷. Nu nog even een beetje voorzichtig zijn met eten en ondertussen genieten van jullie avonturen 😍
