- Hello friends! I noticed there are more newbies in anime figure collecting that have recently threw questions and asked tips on how to take care of anime figures. This inspired me to make this short video. Just 3 important things to remember if you are still new to anime figure collecting.
In this video, we will be talking about anime figure care. This will cover three main figure collecting topics. Cleaning, Storage and Display.
I decided to make it short and straight to the point as much as I can so all those who are interested can understand what I'm saying without the agony of watching a longer video haha! (I know most of my videos are dull as heck but thanks for watching anyway 😭😂)

Ayyo this is good. I wanna see what your methods are compared to mine. I feel like no matter what I do my figures are still bathing in dust minutes after I dust them.
I'm lazy AF so I just put the more complicated looking figures inside the glass cabinet for lesser dust 😂 one friend told me to put foam on glass cabinet sides so it would lessen the dust even more. I'm thinking of adding that in all of my cabs soon. 😌
@@JennySupremo I would think glass cabinets would attract dust even more. I use wood cabinets and shelves and those are still just as bad. It's good to see use use the same methods for cleaning them as I do though. I also don't trust myself around glass so I doubt I'll ever use any for my figures. 😅
Hahaha I'm a dork with glass cabs. I can't count how many times I almost broke them 🤣🤣 I plan to custom make wooden cabs with glass doors in the future. --when I have more money. These cabinets are as expensive as figures after all haha
@@JennySupremo For real though. It's kinda ridiculous how expensive those cases are. Wooden cabinets with glass doors doesn't sound like a bad idea though. 🤔
@@JennySupremo I am planning to make my own cabinets as well because detolfs are getting hard to find nowadays. I would recommend making the cabinets with acrylic sheets instead of glass. It might be more expensive, but the acrylic will be more crack resistant (depending of thickness) and it could save you more money in the long run. Plus it could save you form the headache of having to clean broken glass from your figures!

I have a Detolf case, i applied weather strip all around the open gaps and it's been really amazing no dust inside at all. Now my problem is getting another shelf bc i'm full LOL.
Hahaha same problem! Figures coming in and no place to display. But tbh display cabinets are expensive 😂😭😭 so it's hard to prioritize them IMO
I clean my figures with my hands. I just wipe the dust off of them with my hands😂

Thank you so much for this,I have my first anime figure,Rengoku and I save my money to buy Hanako kun nendoroid,luckily,its almost Rm200 so maybe I will buy it later when I got the full amount. I didint collect figures much but this helps me to display my books and figures and mangas and stuff

this is also why having a nice case/display is important too as it can help keep dust out so that it is easier to clean them. Note, keeping a display does not mean clean less often, it just makes it easier to clean but instead means that with regular cleaning ones can avoid more drastic cleaning that might need to be done otherwise
True. I have figures out the glass cab and the dust are hard to come off over time. My Faz Naruto lost its shine because I had to wash it. The dust won't come off easily :(. Glass cab is a must as much as possible when collecting these things
I don’t think you’ll be a good idea to wash in anime figurine because you could possibly smudge the paint
It actually depends. For me, I wash all of my prize figures and some of my yellowish or sticky figures. Some gunks dont come off with just brushing :( I don't wash my scales as much as possible tho. Unless I really need to. So far I have no figure with smudged paint yet 👌🏻

Yes! I do this! Or you could also use charcoal deodorants

One trick I am planning to use to dust my figures (when I finally take them out of the boxes) is to use my airbrush instead of a can of air, as I can control the air flow much better. Plus no coolant accidents spilling on the figures!

I have never tried storing it inside my computer too. I'm scared it would melt in the long run haha. I have friends who do it tho

But not an entirely great idea to do it every time especially if the space for the computer is either hot or humid
I don't get why anyone would put their figure inside the desktop, even if they knew that computer parts generally create heat when its in use. Unless you are inside an airconditioned room, I don't recommend it if they really care for their figure and there are many better ways to display them.

My Mikus get dusty too. Im too lazy to clean haha! That's why I'd rather put them inside glass cabinets. They get lesser dust compared to figures displayed without any barriers

quick question: do I have to worry about jizz when I bought pre-used fig?
Sorry for the late reply and also THIS HAS TO BE THE FUNNIEST QUESTION EVER haha! But yknow, it depends on the figure. If you worry about jizz, don't order lewd figures. You can choose other characters in poses that are not too seductive or revealing. Then you won't be worrying about jizz anymore hehe

hi so im kind of late but, i have mine in a glass shelve/ showcase like yours, should i watch out for sunlight?
Or is discolaration not an issue as long as they are protected by glass/ dont get hot?
Definitely. If you can, please display your figures away from sunlight to avoid discoloration. They do get discoloured in the long run but it will take a long time. Sunlight hastens that tho so if you wanna avoid that happening to your figures, keep them away from your windows. Also, don't keep them near hot places/spaces. They'll get oily

Ever since i collected anime figures i haven't much clean them thoroughly.. Probably 30 pcs not yet cleaned.. Cleaning sucks.. hahah
I COULD TOTALLY RELATE HAHAHA! When i first got into figure collecting, i used to clean them every week or two. But now i'm too lazy to do that. Sometimes it takes me 6 months before i get the motivation to clean them haha!

I've been using canned air on my figures for a long time,
since a damp cloth can't reach certain places.
But the make-up brush idea seems better.
Although IDK how you would clean the brushes after every use?
You soak them in warm water with soap and bubbles and then rinse, then air dry.
@@JennySupremo Does it matter what kind of soap I use? Cause I don't wanna damage the bristles, or ruining the paint on my figures upon using said brush again.

Im also very lazy when it comes to cleaning my figures. I clean one glass display cabinet a month and i currently have 2 and about 20 figures. I usually use a dust blower to blow away the first layer of easy dust. Then use a brush to brush away the more stubborn dust.
hahahahahahahaha! I laughed at your cleaning schedule because in 2023, i got even lazier and just clean my anime room/figures once a year lol. once a month, my gosh, that's dedication. Applaud! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I came up with my own idea. Which is if I bought a figma figure, i would play with it in my Barbie house set all day long in weekend. Nanami Kento figma can marry that Barbie doll I have. They'll be living happily ever after. 🏡✨
Barbie would be lucky as heck. Nanami's voice alone rents free in my head haha

I haven't tried using wet wipes on figures. Since it's wet wouldn't dust stick to it?
My figures are on a shelf above my desk, but it’s still 3 tries and the top tier is skinniest so my figures are handing off the wedge😭

I use windows cleaning liquid 😆 It works like magic if the figures have some dirt stains.
Ayy I don't want to use that tho. I'm afraid to do damage on the figure due to strong chemicals. But to think it helps more especially on figure stains--- I think it's a good idea too 🤔
@@JennySupremo The window cleaner I use is "soft". It's not as strong as disinfectant alcohol. But if you're worried, u can try it a bit on an area and see what happens :)

If your display case, is air sealed you won't need to clean anything. ∆_∆
You still need to clean the figures. Because the display case still have small gaps, the dust can still get in :/
I mean, it's gonna be hard to completely air seal a display case. I haven't seen one yet. All the cases I have seen always have small gaps for the door opening

Does water damage the eye decals of figures?

Sorry for the late reply Omg! Anyway, if it can be cleaned without using water, it's much better to do that. However, it's not going to damage the decals if you don't soak it for too long. Is is covered with dust that much already that it needs soaking?
nice video! I am using a mini vacuum cleaner with brush in the end to clean my nendoroids once a month. I really don't know if it's right though, but dust goes away 100%! I also display them in a big wooden acrylic case (which is actually made for popmarts LOL)
I just recently bought the PopMart case with led lights~ also, I love the mini vacuum idea but tbh it's honestly scary to use it on Nendos. I mean. Aren't you scared the small accessories get sucked?

I used to clean them using makeup brushes, but I've noticed (very late) that it actually let micro-scratches on acrylic bases. So, now, I'm just... Too scared of trying anything new to clean them.
How about gently using qtips?

can it damage your figures to let them be dusty?
also to anyone reading this, be careful not to let anythig scratch the paint whilst cleaning (eg the metal on the makeup brush) becuas ei may scratch the paint- something i've unfortunately just found out the hard way
the color can fade away
I learned it for the first time while I was doing this video as well. 😭 I scratched the base of my Hatsune Miku shinkai shoujo. Regrets flooded afterwards 😂
