Counting up means that your opponent doesn't know how many wounds he/she still has to deliver to kill the unit. Counting wounds down tells gives your opponent the information required without having to ask, again and again. We start a game with wound dice next to all multi wound model units. Information is an element of respect to your opponent. Also, non of this matters, have fun, it's all toys :]
@@LizardofDoom Seems plenty to me to just have wounds remaining, very odd that AoS pushes the counting of wounds taken, it removes a piece of information useful to your opponent, and it's information that your opponent will now have to ask you for over and over. Wargaming is hard, especially crunchy GW games, we try and make it easier and clearer where possible.
+ fun fact... Leave a model in a glass jar and fill I with isopropyl alcohol and leave it for a day. Come back with an old toothbrush and the paint will come straight off!
Never played the game, im happy with building and painting the minis. But i want to play my first game this year! So videos like this are a big help, thanks for the work!
Appreciate the click bait title when you back it up. That is a decent shout! Like it, and the quick and easy oils too, nice. (Likes for thrones, comments for algorithms).
Nice little video, nothing too stressful after last week's one! Although I'm not sure how useful these'll be for your knights, with their 20+ wounds? Or you could just use 2 markers ofc, you've made enough ;)
The wound counters are cool, but I don't think they can work the way you showed, using them as a base 10 method with a 6 sided die. When you showed a 1 and a 2 for 12, that's fine, but what if there's 17 wounds remaining? Or 9? I think it works if you just use it as a count six, up to 12 wounds. If you wanted to do the type of display you had in the video, you would need 10 sided dice.
@@LizardofDoom If you want I could send you a link to the files we've been working on. My mate Nick has expressed interest in us making some Necron cards for him when we are wrapped up with the Orks stuff
How I see it is in 40k and AOS its to show my opponent how many wounds are left. That way they don't have to constantly ask how many wounds are left, its there. AOS being wounds suffered is something i should know with my models. My opponent doesn't need to know how many wounds have been suffered I do, but they should know how many are left to help with their decisions.
Aye if I wanted to be helpful I could have one of my “wounds remaining” widgets on the table and track it separately on a “wounds suffered” widget on the side 🙂
@@LizardofDoom Aye - my argument is solely based on tradition : it used to be done this way round when I started playing in the 80s: it's absolutely the Old Grognard argument ;)
Are there really monsters out there that put the bog roll the other way around? I thought that was just a story they told us as children to get us to eat our greens.

I could put a wounds remaining widget on the board and keep a widget paired with it off the board with wounds taken 🙂

Just got enough saved up for the airbrush! I'm going to order it soon, can't wait!
Awesome looking forward to seeing what you do with it 🙂

You’re welcome thank you for watching and good luck in your first game 😄
Trackgorithm
Dice are for remaining wounds imo, tokens are for wounds taken.

Nice little add on for games, could also be used for magic the gathering tracking on stats as well.
aye thats a good shout :)
This was really cool, I enjoy your videos about the creality falcon II

I just declare if it is counting up or down every time I place a die. Mitigate confusion

Great Idea! I should do this with my 3d printer!

I could cut some more with extra holes I guess 🙂
Edit:
Or I could use d10s in the holes

Yeah I just thought this luckily I do have D10s that are the right size 🙂
Look great, my mate sells something similar on etsy. Little counter dodat.
It’s nice to have a useful little thingamabob 🙂
Yeah, Warlord Titans have 100 and Fan Datacards we made for the 40K Orks Community has the Mega Gargant at the same.
Big beefy bois
@@LizardofDoom yeah, 100 wounds is pretty beefy until it's the big Boyz pounding out 80 wounds in a single attack.
@@ChoppasSluggasandShootas 🤮 disgusting 😂

@@LizardofDoom that’s actually a good idea lol
What if something has 17 wounds taken/remaining?
Could put d10s in the holes I’ve got some that fit or just put an extra dice on the logo. It’s not that deep. 😂
You're right about the bog roll, but wrong about D&D :)
I feel like the strongest argument for this way round in D&D is you always need to reference the modifier while playing but never really the stat.

I live with someone who doesn’t have a preference so it’s a 50/50 gamble every time. Disgusting.
😲You are a brave man sir. I'll pray for you@@LizardofDoom
Wounds remaining, ALWAYS.
The other player doesnt know your army like you do. Let them know, how many wounds they have left, before their target dies.
I could put a wounds remaining widget on the board and keep a widget paired with it off the board with wounds taken 🙂
Logically you would use wounds remaining, like a mtg hit die.
Aye that would be logical but for a bunch of abilities in AoS you need to keep track of wounds taken instead.
Warlord titans are 100 wounds. For those casual 3500+ point games haha
oh yeah for those chill sunday afternoon kitchen table games 😂
5e.
Opinion discarded.
Alright gatekeeper.
