I give this philosophy 6 weeks max. It's easy to see how it'll work and how our squad fits it like a glove. Now, the focus should be on the players building a relationship with each other on the pitch. They have to work with and for each other. So the positional transitions with and without the ball have to be in sync. Because that's where the major problem might be. Especially, when defending and/or without the ball. So the profiling of personnel should be impeccable from Maresca. The squad is there and it's fit. It's now time for some bold decisions to be made, on which player sets the blueprint in the role they are given; to instil the ideas, the philosophy, firmly. I personally think for transitional defending purposes, Caicedo, Carney and KDH are the best fit for the B2B role. Because of their athleticism, their ball winning ability and their offensive ability. Perfect receivers and overlappers. I also think inverting the RB works better than the left. This, because, Levi reads the game better from the CCB role and both Reece and Malo are good for the build-up and transitional defending. But Cucurella's front-foot defending ability could work also. So, Maresca is just blessed tbh. This is an opportunity he couldn't let slip: for his philosophies and his ideas. It's like destiny. Lastly, I'm not TOO worried about the wing issue, 2025 is almost here. But we have a very fluid profile of players. Hybrids and Swiss knives. It's on the coaches' ability to utilise the squad.
