Katie Gripp Shining Star

​I'd like to nominate Katie Gripp for shining star. Last week when I was working in the stress lab, Katie Gripp was such a help to me to navigate an unusual patient's need. The patient I was working with had a special situation that I had not worked with in the stress lab before. I went to Katie to ask her help to check the policy for the care required for this patient. Katie was immediately willing to help me. She brought the information I needed to the stress lab, so I could continue to provide patient care. She was so timely and efficient. She was pleasant and so willing to help me. I was so grateful for her help. She was such a team player in the help of this patient's care. Katie was very professional and knowledgeable. Katie definitely provided extra assistance that resulted in a positive patient experience. This is not the first time that Katie has been so willing to help. Katie exemplifies the character of a Shining Star and I would like her recognized for her dedication to our hospital community. -Cardiac Rehab RN Rhonda Buresh)
Katie Gripp is an exceptional employee and deserves to be recognized and celebrated. In addition to her daily duties at Hammond-Henry as the Infection Control and Employee Health Nurse, she also jumps in whenever she is requested to help out at the bedside, whether that's to start an IV or assist with a procedure. On this particular day, Katie was asked to help with an emergent add-on procedure. Katie already had several meetings scheduled and was unfortunately also working through a few COVID-positive employee situations, but she immediately agreed to help with this procedure. After the procedure was finished, Katie also made sure that the patient's aftercare was appropriate. She personally spoke with the ED physician, imaging staff, radiologist, and the patient's nurse to ensure that everyone was on the same page with the patient's care. When she simply could have advised the ED physician to consult with the radiologist, Katie instead communicated with everyone on the team to close the loop and ensure the patient received what he needed. This is just one example of how Katie goes above and beyond for our community. She extends this same passion and attention to detail to all of us employees as well, and we are lucky to have her here at Hammond-Henry! -Quality/Safety Coordinator Katie Carius
