Who else was expecting the fail to be a pornographic picture/video suddenly showing up on the screen? That's how these types of fails usually play out.
If a humble IT man could interject here.. You can see the gesture working. The reason that it isn't changing the photo is because she only loaded one photo, which is hilarious
Half the QVC fails are just because nobody bothered to play test the demonstration before they went live, or nobody bothered to explain the instructions to the demonstrator.
I've never heard of this feature and I was thinking the same thing. In the upper-right corner something appears to confirm that it read her gesture. It just didn't seem to have anything it would need to actually do a thing.
I'm 23 and I don't know jack about technology lol! I actually work in a nursing home in the recovery area. There's a 60 year old woman who's had a fall and shes recovering but she actually works with a big tech company doing an engineering and development job, and has been doing it for over 26 years. Typically Ive learned that it's older and old people who's doing those kinda of jobs. Lol my husband is 11 years older than me and he started small like on phones and computers then he started with minor developments.. but he went into financing cause he had the opportunity to make more money. But he was 31 when I met him and it took him a while to move up in software. The older you get the more you learn. And once you hit a certain age you'll start to decline. But young people are still learning not developing and depending on the person once they hit maybe 70 that's when they'll start declining. My husband's step father is an engineer and currently still has his own company and does mostly everything... he's 79 years old.
Thing is 99% of people out there young or old "have no clue how this works", they might know how to use the functions and interface but that doesn't mean they know how it works. Hell i knew programmers and testers at AMI (who probably helped develop the BIOS that computer is using) that didn't really know how half the systems worked. With that said QVC has a long history of peddling low end dells that were notorious for high failure rates.
@@mrs.noneyabuisness5025 So true! If it wasn't for my old ass self, my boys would not know how to cook seasonally or ancestrally, how to sew on buttons, self care for them and their children, how to make money, how to wipe their butts. May not be computer science but they know how to survive.
Peter Principle. You see that at major corporations all of the time. I live in French Canada. When we get clients from the USA visiting our shop, potential contracts worth millions of dollars, the staff members who can barely speak English are the ones chosen to give them a tour of the shop. Meanwhile my mother tongue is English, as well as others within the shop, and they never ask us to give our clients the tour. DUH?! Some people cannot let go of power and/or attention. I would say it's more of an issue of competence and a lack of proper management. Sometimes ego can tend to get in the way of a business generating revenue. This video would be a prime example of it.
But seriously, as a former salesman, she handled that as well as anyone could have. I mean it could have been a legit issue with the big screen but I hear sales BS loud and clear but again, pro level, real time salesmanship.
Pretty confident there was only one photo in the folder. The gesture thing worked at 0:18 and also looked to be registering on the laptop. Can also see it greyed out which I think means nothing else is in the folder.
Please send help. It all started with the punctured mattress. I figured I'd check out this video but now I see I've joined y'all and now I can't get out of the QVC fail pit!
I now know why hand gestures on laptops didn't take off. Also, I find it interesting that she was showing the Windows 7 media player and photo viewer on Windows 8.1 instead of the Windows 8.x native apps, which shows me how much lots of people didn't like Microsoft's 'complete rethink of Windows' they had with Windows 8.x.
It didn't change because there was only 1 picture in the album. Sometimes the cause is as simple as that. If you look carefully at 0:20, the feature did work.
The main point is --> send all of your hard-earned money to QVC to purchase cheap Chinese products that don't function properly (and will wind-up on the ocean floor in a month or two)
I thought she was going to put "adult content" in the screen😄😄😄 I remember when something like that happened to a college professor in the middle of full class presentation...
Because, when I give presentations, I love to focus on, and wave to my computer--turning my back on my audience. If you've got to stand in front of your computer to "gesture," why not just tap the right arrow button on the keyboard? Who thought that was a good idea?
She only opened up 1 single photo. The previous and next buttons under the image are greyed out thats why she can't go to the next photo. There isn't any other photos lol
Anyone notice the function worked for the videos. She didn't even notice. 0:18
I didn’t until I saw your comment hee hee!
0:49 look upper right, it works. It just windows photo viewer bugging or no more images in that folder.

Oh I thought it was part of the video

You can see the gesture working. The reason that it isn't changing the photo is because she only loaded one photo, which is hilarious
So they didn't practice it!
Not an IT guy here. Thats what my first thought was. She should've checked to see how many pics were in the slideshow
I imagine she wasnt in charge of loading images? Surely some production assistant who didn't know she was going to show off that element?
Lmao That is hilarious!
yeah you can see the arrows are greyed out which means she only had one photo lmao :D
It actually was working perfectly the problem was that ere was no other pictures in the gallery to switch to.
That's what I was thinking.
Yep. Was thinking the same.

Lol its obviously not a "sync problem between the computer and tv"
All she had to do was click into the active window. A click in the middle would have sufficed and then gesture would have worked.
thanks!
I’m not sure, it’s possible the gesture setting was set to volume control and not slideshow
Wow how convincing. I'm gonna run out and get one of those Dell laptops rn!

She did a great job of keeping it together, was not as awkward as a few others
She has only one picture on the computer.
She needs more pics to access the swipe.

That's a new dance move. Someone needs to put a beat behind this lol

okay but when she shared her screen to the tv at the beginning that was pretty cool

Computer: Thinks I want to gesture past 30 photos.
I have no idea how I ended up with nonstop QVC fail videos.
This is such an accurate representation of what will actually happen with that device
Definitely can't claim false advertising on this one!
When the engineers include a feature that is totally pointless, just so they can brag about the added features.
She was smooth tho lol “you get an opportunity to check out this new technology with the holiday deal” Damnn lol 😂
2010 vibes, love the nostalgia
I will wave past this one, thank you.
If I have to stand over the computer to gesture I might as well use the arrow keys lol
It didn't change because there was only 1 picture in the album. Sometimes the cause is as simple as that. If you look carefully at 0:20, the feature did work.
Even if it did work, I feel like it takes more effort and more room for technical error by waving instead of just pushing a button...
RUclips why did you send me down this QVC fail blackhole
She handled that super professionally!
These years were so calm and relaxing what year was this 07? Wish everything today wasn’t so hectic and fancy..
The laptop's running Windows 8.1 so probably 2013/2014.
Yea.. hitting the slideshow button is way worse than looking like a schizo on the street
Lets minimize the window and enlarge it. That'll solve everything
Oh yeah, that gesture is SO MUCH MORE CONVENIENT THAN CLICKING A BUTTON!
What we missed was the Christian Bale style rant. Her yelling at how she is done with that lap top professionally
In RUclips algorithm we trust.

Lol I thought it was going to gesture to an inappropriate pic.
It just looked like they only had one stock picture. It should have worked with more of them. You can see the computer accepting the gesture.

What she's doing wrong is not saying "Abracadabra" as she gestures.

A sync problem between the computer and the big screen!?
She has no idea that that's not even close to the problem.
Legend has it, she still waving at that screen today .
but she's so Adorable!

Window's photo/gallery software sucks. For starters, you have to highlight all the photos, right click, then open to be able to scroll left and right.
This is what happens when you commit your code just before the demo
a gesture problem is no big deal.. it would've been a real "fail" if some obscene video/photo unexpectedly got shown
