      This applies only on the Boeing 737

      The power assist is only activated in an emergency, when the door is "armed." When the mode selector in the "disarmed" position, door operation is entirely manual. That's why the door is normally opened by the boarding bridge operator - it's easier and safer to pull the door from the outside. It's well-balanced, but still quite heavy.

    would the
    epirb safety beacon or radio in the raft be able to be accessed in flight ?
    Like on MA370 the crew could have set of the beacon ?

    Doors 1R and 5R are also safe to open.
