You are exactly right. Well draining is the key. I’m in Florida and all the trees on my property are growing right in the ground which is mostly sand. Good thing too because the rainy summer season here is pretty brutal with lots of rainfall.
When you planted your palmetto, how much water did you give it from first planting and the first dirt year? Also how much water after the 1st year? I just planted some in Lawrenceville GA. Any suggestions would be helpful on watering please,🙏
For the first year I recommend through the summer you water it at least once a week if not a little more for the first week it’s planted maybe water it every other day as for the following summer you should be pretty good with just once or twice a month just keep in mind you are definitely going to need some protection in your area as I have seen many palmettos die in Atlanta you have to be south to offer them no protection down towards Valdosta or following the coast
Hello, great and helpful video. Mexican fan palms- you have some planted in Ontario? I brought a Mexican fan palm palm back to Chattanooga from Florida in June - I potted it. I assumed Chattanooga Tn. was too cold of a climate for them. Will they survive outdoors here in zones 7A-7B?
Washingtonia Robusta are 9a palms . They can survive brief cold snaps in the mid upper teens depending on age and health of the palm. Without proper winter protection your Washy is not going to survive in 7a/7b.
Hey man I’ve had my palm in the ground for over a year and there’s been no change whatsoever.. what am I doing wrong? I can grow crops of vegetables and alsorts of other trees but my palm won’t grow
Hey James I just live north of here is it possible that I could come and buy a small Mexican palm from you? How else could I get your contacts if that is OK with you?
@@kevinboyle1968 yeah for sure send me an email if you want to come by and buy a couple palms this weekend you can come by my house send me an email at James_Shep2929@hotmail.com

Sleeping under a palm tree on a hot summer day is just relaxing 10/10

No. Mature specimens can only tolerate temps down to 20°f with no wetness/humidity.
How often would you water a baby palm in clay soil / 110 degree weather?
I brought 2 seedlings back from family's house in Vegas. Transplanted 2 in their yard that volunteered next to their patio.
