Just a buy or sell idea: Kennywood will invest in another big coaster idea within the next 5 years, but will either have to a) Make a lot of it fit in the small canyon where thunderbolt and phantom are or b. Take out the sky coaster and work around the steel curtain
15:45 I actually didn't like Pipeline. Us guys have to ride very defensively. The airtime is cool, but the landings are not good. Your groin does smash against the perch on the landings if you don't guard against it (don't kick your legs out or else). The bouncing seats that don't lock in place like the old ones means this is a forever issue. I figured out how to defend against it, but nothing can be done about the vests. I usually love B&M vests, but these are very painful. Big Bear Mountain was worlds better, borderline top 100 coaster for me.
I have my doubts about Flash Opening at GA in 2024 or possibility at all. It's my home park and when I was there for Holiday at the Park there was zero movement construction wise.
Some say that SFOG’s Ultra Surf would open too late but I don’t see that happening. It’s basically a “water ride” so it shouldn’t take long to construct it in order to open it on time

It's tough to say. I'm skeptical a package deal was involved as Cedar Fair has not worked with Vekoma since adding WoF's Boomerang in 2000. KI's Family Boomerang definitely screams *"last-minute addition."* It's being added at the same time as Good Gravy - just 3 hours away - which is NOT ideal. Plus, the figure-eight version KI went with is Vekoma's most popular, most-basic off-the-shelf layout. My guess is Cedar Fair decided to delay the Vortex replacement as they re-evaluate their relationship with Mack. The Family Boomerang works as a stop-gap addition (as did the Snoopy coaster at CaWo) and improves Planet Snoopy's standing. At the same time, it provides KI an alternative in case they can't go forward with a Mack multi-launch (which seems likely). Also, this is pure speculation, but I wouldn't be shocked if a settlement for the botched Montezooma contract involves Mack providing some off-the-shelf coaster models at-cost. Hypothetically, this could involve Sierra Sidewinder clones coming to parks (including Six Flags), and a water coaster clone for Carowinds. The Storm Coaster model at Sea World Gold Coast seems most likely. But beyond that, there would be a 10-15 year moratorium on custom coasters or conversions from Mack.
Buy or Sell: Six Flags/Cedar Fair will see the success of the S&S Axis Coaster in Saudi Arabia, and add it right away to Kings Island as the reimagined Vortex. At Hallo-Thriller at Dorney this year, the park president said that she canceled the shuttle wooden coaster when she became president in 2022 becuase she didn't want to get rid of Possessed. Cedar Fair provided funds for a 2024 coaster, and instead of using the shuttle coaster plans, she wanted a dive coaster for the park to compete with Hershey and Six Flags, plus they could keep Possessed. So we can thank COVID and the new park president for Possessed remaining.
Another tidbit she told us was that the dive came down to 3 plans from B&M and one of them was 225 ft tall but much shorter in length. It's wild to think that Dorney was close to having a dive larger than Griffon in it's park.@@AirtimeThrills
Well, asterisk on the 500'+ launch coaster since I'm still skeptical that they'll ever actually finish the thing. I'll still give ya the "launch coaster will be the sleeper hit" thing, I've heard nothing but praise for Gotham City Escape. Maybe expectations were a little higher than Pipeline for people in the know, but c'mon, it doesn't even have a Wikipedia page yet.
It'd be nice to see them offer a spinning model, a flyer that loads/unloads like FLY, or a launched family floorless coaster. But I don't think B&M needs more than that - they don't need to focus on a vertical lift or create their version of the Axis. They need to replicate the floater-airtime experience of their hypers on a smaller scale, but a family floorless coaster that peaks at about 110 feet tall could do this.
Buy or Sell: Magic Mountain will focus on family-thrill coasters over the next decade, adding a smaller B&M Wing on the Golden Bear Theatre site, building a Vekoma family launch coaster where Gold Rusher is, and replacing Magic Flyer with a Mobius P'sghetti Bowl.

Actually think Valleyfair's getting a B&M Dive, hopefully with 5 inversions. The former Dinos Alive space has a ton of space for a batwing after the first drop. It's almost shameful B&M hasn't built a dive coaster with one yet. After that, add a zero-g roll, an inclined loop, turnaround into a stalled corkscrew, and final turn(s) into the brakes. But they'd also benefit from getting Invertigo from KI. They could squeeze it in near Wild Thing's entrance, and eventually build a STC on Excalibur's site when both are ready to be scrapped.

I don't know that Selim necessarily enjoys that park over others. The ATL metro area has grown a ton over the last decade, so SFOG is a safe choice for last-minute investment. And a P'sghetti Bowl and Ultra Surf are relatively cheap choices that play to Fun Spot's weaknesses. They don't have modern family coasters or thrilling flat / water rides. An Ultra Surf gives them ArieForce One's height and speed without an excessively intense finale. They're just smart biz moves that put FSA on the defensive.
@@brianfoss571An RMC Raptor is another cheap coaster that SFOG could get as a last minute investment, but the gaps they once had to be filled in before getting one as part of them thinking out of the box of what coaster they should get. Kid Flash and the Ultra Surf are really good editions for SFOG in my opinion as it being my home park, both of them them their first new ground up coasters since Dare Devil Dive in 2011
I hope Kid Flash was cheap, considering both have been closed for a month with no explanation, and it's future unknown. Skyline coasters do have a tendency to operate very shortly before being torn down, but just 1 month is insane.

Besides, they're relatively close to Great Adventure. KD probably won't get a new coaster for at least 5 years after the Volcano replacement opens, so it makes no sense to close Anaconda until they're ready to build on that site. Hershey removing their Wild Mouse for a Wild Moose makes a lot of sense. (Just hope they don't call it "Mildcat" haha) I could also see Dorney replace their Wild Mouse with the Zamperla version down the line so they'll have a spinning coaster. Honestly, we all were ready for SFA’s Mind Eraser to be replaced, and I’m kinda disappointed that it isn’t. If they wanted to upgrade the trains, they should’ve done that like 6 years ago. Either the city saves it themselves, or somehow incentives CF/SF to leep it running or have someone else take it over. I've heard rumors that the city was shocked by the news, and they themselves have been looking at ways to keep it from going away. Just rumors, but I'd like to believe the park isn't going away.

That means there is stuff they could do w/o rezoning. Everyone thinks Prologis is just warehouse, b/c that was their main thing originally, but they have been expanding & diversifying since the mid 2010's. They have done several mixed use projects with housing/entertainment projects in FL, NJ, etc... The city is all talk. If Prologis planned a mixed use housing/entertainment they city would rezone & approve it in a second. The area has a severe housing shortage, they need more units. There has been several council people that have already said they would be in favor of a housing related development, if that's what Prologis desired. The city needs the housing & wants the tax revenue . 2) It's a done deal, CF has already been paid for the land, they still own all assets on the land. So, the city is SOL. They would have to repurchase the land from Prologis, & they will want more than they paid. Then they would have to buy the actual park assets from CF/SF,which would be well 125M minimum, low end. CGA was a low profit park single digit millions net income. The city nor any park operator would take forever to get their money back paying Prologis 310M+ for the land, CF/SF 125M+ for the park assets.
Hard Sell. There are too many family models parks can choose from now. Family Boomerangs and Straddle models, along with family inverts and Gravitykraft woodies, will continue to be added. I expect a few parks will want to add a Wild Moose or Zamperla Wild Mouse, too. It's true that births peaked in the US around 2007, but there will still be plenty of families with kids aged 6-12 to market family coasters to in the next decade.
Buy or Sell: By 2030, SeaWorld San Antonio will replace Journey to Atlantis and the Nautilus Amphitheater with a B&M Surf and replace Great White with a B&M Wing.
Not a chance. Both Chains will operate normally for 2024 season. The merger if approved will not close till middle of 2024. 2025 would be the earliest and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up more like how SEAS does it. There might be a mega pass like $400 or $500 for all 27 parks. Then offer regional multi park passes how SEAS has a FL pass just for Sea World Orlando & Busch Tampa ..ie...CA pass for SFMM, Knotts, CGA, Discovery Kingdom, They could even offer just a a northern CA Pass (CGA. SFDK) & Southern CA pass(Knotts, SFMM) Offer an Ohio pass for Cedar Point & Kings Island. Tx pass for SFOT, SFFT, 2 Schlitterbahn parks. They could do a Midwest Pass, North East pass, etc...

I would say Big Bear Mountain was a bit of a sleeper hit. I was throughly surprised by how good of a ride it was.
You also could’ve been right on the Knott’s one considering the debacle with Montezooma’s overall and it looking like it might be done for good.

I honestly think Selim has SFOG as of his favorite parks in the chain when he gave the park both Kid Flash and the Ultra Surf in a one year span.
I don't know that Selim necessarily enjoys that park over others. The ATL metro area has grown a ton over the last decade, so SFOG is a safe choice for last-minute investment. And a P'sghetti Bowl and Ultra Surf are relatively cheap choices that play to Fun Spot's weaknesses. They don't have modern family coasters or thrilling flat / water rides. An Ultra Surf gives them ArieForce One's height and speed without an excessively intense finale. They're just smart biz moves that put FSA on the defensive.
@@brianfoss571An RMC Raptor is another cheap coaster that SFOG could get as a last minute investment, but the gaps they once had to be filled in before getting one as part of them thinking out of the box of what coaster they should get. Kid Flash and the Ultra Surf are really good editions for SFOG in my opinion as it being my home park, both of them them their first new ground up coasters since Dare Devil Dive in 2011
I hope Kid Flash was cheap, considering both have been closed for a month with no explanation, and it's future unknown. Skyline coasters do have a tendency to operate very shortly before being torn down, but just 1 month is insane.

Selling the Raptor at Knoebels and Anaconda closing in 2025. Knoebels would benefit more from a family coaster (Vekoma SFC or Family Boomerang) than another compact thrill coaster with inversions. Besides, they're relatively close to Great Adventure. KD probably won't get a new coaster for at least 5 years after the Volcano replacement opens, so it makes no sense to close Anaconda until they're ready to build on that site.
Hershey removing their Wild Mouse for a Wild Moose makes a lot of sense. (Just hope they don't call it "Mildcat" haha) I could also see Dorney replace their Wild Mouse with the Zamperla version down the line so they'll have a spinning coaster.
And "more coasters like Big Bear Mountain will open" is so vague it's practically inevitable. Lol. Seriously, does any enthusiast think that no other park in the world will open a Vekoma family launch coaster? Even Magic Mountain will probably add one to replace Gold Rusher.
@@brianfoss571 For Knoebles, I was thinking that they would get a coaster that has the same layout as Railblazer. Anaconda is not a popular ride at Kings Dominion because of how rough it is, so it could be closed down and not replaced for years, similar to Volcano. Also, I think that you are right about Magic Mountain getting a coaster similar to Big Bear Mountain to replace Gold Rusher when it closes.

And Anaconda is unpopular, but it's not a maintenance nightmare like Volcano was. KD can run one train on it for several more years. As for your Big Bear Mountain prediction, I'd recommend changing it to list specific parks you think will receive a Vekoma family launch coaster. After operating for less than a month, both Kid Flashes have been closed all December, and the trains have been removed. I have found no reason, and nobody is talking about it. I guess we're just so used to Skyline coasters flopping within their first year, then getting removed. Brava has been a success, but it was always temporary and will be removed soon.

Honestly, we all were ready for SFA’s Mind Eraser to be replaced, and I’m kinda disappointed that it isn’t.
If they wanted to upgrade the trains, they should’ve done that like 6 years ago. Even then, it’s yet another band-aid solution to a rough and aging 1990s coaster. This park seems to like doing that.

1)The actually zoning of the parcel is zoned for mixed industrial and entertainment use, accommodating restaurants or a shopping center. That means there is stuff they could do w/o rezoning. Everyone thinks Prologis is just warehouse, b/c that was their main thing originally, but they have been expanding & diversifying since the mid 2010's. They have done several mixed use projects with housing/entertainment projects in FL, NJ, etc... The city is all talk. If Prologis planned a mixed use housing/entertainment they city would rezone & approve it in a second. The area has a severe housing shortage, they need more units. There has been several council people that have already said they would be in favor of a housing related development, if that's what Prologis desired. The city needs the housing & wants the tax revenue .
2) It's a done deal, CF has already been paid for the land, they still own all assets on the land. So, the city is SOL. They would have to repurchase the land from Prologis, & they will want more than they paid. Then they would have to buy the actual park assets from CF/SF,which would be well 125M minimum, low end. CGA was a low profit park single digit millions net income. The city nor any park operator would take forever to get their money back paying Prologis 310M+ for the land, CF/SF 125M+ for the park assets.

Hard Sell. There are too many family models parks can choose from now. Family Boomerangs and Straddle models, along with family inverts and Gravitykraft woodies, will continue to be added. I expect a few parks will want to add a Wild Moose or Zamperla Wild Mouse, too. It's true that births peaked in the US around 2007, but there will still be plenty of families with kids aged 6-12 to market family coasters to in the next decade.

Not a chance. Both Chains will operate normally for 2024 season. The merger if approved will not close till middle of 2024. 2025 would be the earliest and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up more like how SEAS does it. There might be a mega pass like $400 or $500 for all 27 parks. Then offer regional multi park passes how SEAS has a FL pass just for Sea World Orlando & Busch Tampa ..ie...CA pass for SFMM, Knotts, CGA, Discovery Kingdom, They could even offer just a a northern CA Pass (CGA. SFDK) & Southern CA pass(Knotts, SFMM) Offer an Ohio pass for Cedar Point & Kings Island. Tx pass for SFOT, SFFT, 2 Schlitterbahn parks. They could do a Midwest Pass, North East pass, etc...
This makes the most sense to me also. One mega pass and then more regional passes for those who don't want full access
