If you want permanent jewelry there's a thing called a laser welder for that purpose. It doesn't heat up the entire piece, just the area where you are joining the ends.

After 43 years underground mining, I finally saw a huge quantity of High Grade gold in a 2 yard scoop tram bucket, and there was more gold than waste rock as we were 'required' to sample each bucket that was mucked. This was a a gold mine in Timmins ON at mine that is still operating today, this was about 6 or 7 years ago...

Okay-about the impurities in the gold while in the crucible:
While you heat it, you roll the crucible around and the impurities roll off to the sides of the crucible.
You can also dip a graphite rod into the gold to draw out the impurities.
You want them gone before you dump them into the mold, if possible.
I melt and mill gold as a jeweler often enough, though I tend not to alter the alloy the way you are here.
    Best!

I think your best bet Jeff is a crimping tool to crimp both sides together. Soldering it is going to get really hot before the flux will take and bind. But you could use a hydraulic lug crimper, they give you the right angle to do it parallel along someone's wrist and not risk injury. Make the gold wire a bit longer maybe or possibly them just close together and allow the copper crimp to cold solder them together. Depending on the crimper you had it could make the seam less intrusive so you don't risk the copper being sharp or snagging on clothing. If you wanted to I'm sure you could also add some shrink plastic over the crimped portion as very minor heat is required for it to shrink, I feel like I'd only do this if I wanted to seal the copper from corrosion...
TL;DR: Hydraulic crimping tool, crimp dat gold strand with some copper.

    PLIERS:
To prevent jaw bite marks on your bracelet, cover your plier jaws with plastic, leather, jet set, basically any material that acts as a barrier between the gold and the hard steel edges of your pliers when you apply pressure to bend them.
Also-you can bend the gold around PVC, wood dowels, and pound them with a plastic dead blow hammer to gently form them.
Also-you can clamp one end of the goo wire in a vice, then gasp the other in a tight clamp, and twist the wire into a way way cool spiral.
    I’m wearing a twist-gold bracelet that I made right now ☀️
    Best!!!

The mercury method is very dangerous, unless the mercury is burned off and exhausted through water. The mercury is so heavy, it gets cooled by the water then sinks.

Or-use Tripoli compound to buff, then rouge (l like Zam) to polish.
There’s so much I could teach you about goldsmithing-making a simple clasp, etc.
Come out to Central NY to the Adirondacks some day and stop by at Cunningham’s Custom Jewelry and ask for me.
I’ll teach you how to make the most out of your bracelet, finish your ends, make it go on and off easily, show you all your options.

@@David-fv7zg environmentalist eat right? So where did their garbage go? To the landfield? Where did their poop go to the septic tank? Where did the containers of their food goes? I think all people are destroyers of earth since the beggining of time but did the earth got destroyed by people the answer is no beacause the earth heal itself...from the beggining of time of gold discovery humans used mercury and dump it on earth but did the earth died,no right i will bet that the time of your death the earth will always be earth as it is...soo give me a reason to exagerate things like environmentalist who is also a contributors of destruction to earth...wake up to the reality that environmentalist also wears gold to their body who is process by using mercury and dump to earth...wake up your in earth man everything happens here the only way to save the environment is when there is no people on earth...is that enough reason not to be exagerated environmentalist or you want more evidence that environmentalist are people who don't accept that they are also destroyers of mother nature...did you get the point that no people is clean everybody destroy everything...but you can never destroy the earth unless you lunch a million atomic bomb at the same time...just kidding i agree to you...peace man...just enjoy watching Jeff and his family no need to argue

Here’s a valid argument against vegans. They say animals are alive so we must eat plants. They forget plants actually move a ton. Watch a 48 hour time lapse of a sunflower or something. Also trees have been studied communicating.

Please don't take offense at my observations. I am absolutely aware that you did not go there to choose a system of recovering gold with the knowledge that it was dangerous to the environment. Having said that, large parts of the Amazon basin are today seriously polluted with mercury to the point where the water is not safe to drink for humans. The Amazon is only one river system which has been systematically damaged or destroyed by mercury. I know that mercury amalgams are the only easy way of recovering gold from the residues that these miners acquire, but they are killing themselves and their families and the people and animals around them, for a pittance in income. It may, in fact, be the only income available to some of them if they wish to stay in the jungle. The use of mercury simply cannot be supported by anyone for gold recovery anywhere.
Now, having beaten you savagely with a moose antler, I want you to know how impressed I am with the things that you and your family have done. As a geologist who has spent probably half of his career, 20 plus years, living in and working in remote undeveloped parts of the earth, often with Indigenous people, spending 11 months (over 7 years) living on the Alaska North Slope, once living three months there in a camp made entirely of old cloth army tents surrounded by fabulous terrain and lots of grizzly bears, lived in two Eskimo villages, one of which had a coastal setting where the chief harpooned and killed a bowhead whale (which was within his rights as a native), and have eaten muck tuck (cubes of whale blubber chewed like bubble gum - don't bother - yuck), I have been very impressed by all of the accommodations needed to survive away from the grid and I have seen the majority of your wonderful videos. Keep it up, and I will keep watching them and may, from time to time, poke you with a stick if I don't like something.
By the way, I think someone else may have alluded to this, but one has to wonder how you can even breathe with all that estrogen in the air in your cabin. I had enough trouble raising one daughter, I can't imagine having raised a brood as big as yours. They seem to have turned into very nice young ladies, educated, able to hold their own in the wilderness and with a great outlook on life. I congratulate you and Rose on your achievement.
    Cheers…

My gosh -- trying to weld a bracelet while your wife is wearing it? Please don't try that again. If you want to weld it then you'll need a smaller / more focused torch. Just lean the bracelet against some firebrick and weld it there. Use a bracelet mandrel to shape it. You can hammer out any bumps or kinks.
