    Chris Hemsworth is still going to be Thor. He’s stated that he’ll keep playing him as long as Marvel and Disney wants him. He enjoys the role too much to let it go.

    The reason why Hulk acts like a child is because that version of Hulk is the suppressed child inside of Bruce that comes out when he's upset or overwhelmed. I recommend reading the Immortal Hulk run, it's fantastic

    I've always thought that Hulk is like a big kid with a temper tantrum. Of course, like most good kids, he sees what he has done, realizes that it was wrong, and feels bad about it.

    I actually enjoyed all the Thor movies, but Ragnarök certainly gave the franchise a big upgrade. As Linkara says, comic books are kind of silly, and we should embrace that wholeheartedly. Just because something is silly, doesn't mean you can't make something emotional and meaningful out of it.

    • @osutuba
      @osutuba 2 года назад

      This was my favorite of the Thor movies and I think a lot of it was because while it did have tons of action, there were just so many good-hearted and funny moments compared to the previous films. I'm looking forward to Love and Thunder.

      I really don't get your point. You say you liked the movie, yet your sentiment about comic-books sounds like a criticism. Also, Thor comics, mostly Journey Into Mystery ones, were silly in retrospect, not because they were intended to be silly. Thor was a dead serious character in those.

    • @Rixec2
      @Rixec2 2 года назад

      @@antona.1327 No, no, not a criticism, praise. I enjoy that comics can be silly. Even when things are serious you can have wildly awesome things. I mean, for example, JLA/Titans: The Technis Imperative, has an emotional storyline about whether to let Cyborg die or not to save the world, touching on making him reconnect with his humanity, how the Titans are a family, and so forth.
      But then you have moments like having multiple superheroes push the moon back into place while it is bound in willpower and invisible plane goop. Silly, yet awesome. That is what makes comics so great. You can take the most baffling things and still make them work emotionally and seriously. Silliness is not a criticism.
      I said we should embrace the sillier moments more because comics as a medium pulls them off so well. I don't get how you took that as a "criticism" from me.

    My own favorite line of the movie (and I may be misquoting) is "Are you the g-d of hammers?" - it's the apotheosis of Thor. He realizes at that moment that the weapon isn't who he is. Never was. And that gives me chills.

    The scene where Hulk goes and fights Sutur and explains why he has to fight him, basically sums the main reason I love the Hulk. He doesn’t care what the odds are or if he could actually win. He see a monster and runs and punches it.

      I admit I never personally cared much about the Warriors 3 in the other movies to care that much about their deaths though I am surpirsed Erod didn't bring up his thoughts on that. Especially since one of his big points about Dark World was wanting more of the Warriors 3 and wanting them to be in a movie fully with Thor which yeah so did not happen here

    I actually consider the first Thor film from 2011 to be criminally underrated (it's my third favorite of the Phase One films, behind only The Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger, yes, I actually like the first Thor better than the first Iron Man). I thought it was kind of a stroke of genius that Kenneth Branagh directed the story as a live-action Disney fairy tale, since Thor as a character fits into the fairy tale mold. (I also casually like Thor: The Dark World, even if it's objectively one of the MCU's lesser films, and I wonder if ERod has cooled on it, as I do remember him giving it a Ten Points on the Badassitude Meter when he posted his review of it back in 2015).
    That being said, Thor: The Dark World was something of a misstep in the direction of making Thor interesting (even if I do legitimately like pre-Waititi Thor) as a standalone character outside of him playing off The Avengers. As ERod pointed out, stripping him down to who he is bare bones without Mjolnir or his fantastical image was a risk that REALLY paid off VERY WELL.
    And yes, I am very interested to see where Thor goes in Love and Thunder when it releases in July. Only two more months!

    • @DianaGohan
      @DianaGohan 2 года назад +2

      Erod actually gave Thor The Dark World a 9 out of 10. Due to the fact that Dark World's villain Malekilth the Elf was very boring and terrible and Erod admitted it was probably his least favorite of the marvel movie villains. Which is ironic now with Hela being his favorite. I admit I do like Hela (and appreciate that like with Dormanamu she's defeated more through a technicality not Thor just magically finding a way to best her) but I do feel villains like Killmonger and Thanos are better but eh to each their own right?

    The movie turns 5 today!
    Still the best Thor film and one of the best, most fun entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
    Taika Waititi who’s known for indie comedies brings so much more of a colorful, goofy side to the character than we’ve seen and he’s one of the few Kiwi directors to step into the limelight
    Thor is actually given a personality rather than coming off so heartbroken and burdened by destiny and it’s very funny throughout, he knows when to be silly, charming, subtle and serious
    His chemistry with Tom Hiddleston proves both of them have plenty to squeeze out; Thor and Loki butt heads constantly but still end up accomplishing much more
    Can Loki actually be trusted for once even when Thor tries to change him?
    Blanchett has some of the best wardrobe and villain designs of any of these MCU movies and it helps her acting backs all of it
    There’s also timely themes in here about history being whitewashed, rewriting it to suit our own needs, covering up our pasts to paint a better picture and forget our past transgressions, it’s true kings and conquerors are proud to have their accomplishments but ashamed of how they got them, a country or kingdom isn’t a place it’s a people that make it
    Waititi essentially makes an immigration story and several parallels to Aborigines and also inserting subtle Australian branding throughout
    And the aesthetic of the movie embraces the traditional Jack Kirby artwork from many of the comics giving it a retro 1980’s feel like a pop video
    Rather some cool-looking action too that matches many comic frames especially the ending and when in slow-motion looks like beautiful illustrations
    Let’s also not forget the many inside references to past MCU films and callbacks
    True this is light on story or might worry viewers that there’s so much stuff crammed in and half the jokes end up being a 50/50 ratio but they balance it out figuratively being a psychedelic experience
    Thor is finally given some proper treatment this time around without relying on too much melodrama and this is one of the best films of 2017
    And the best part….this leads directly into one of the best MCU films period!

    Many fans feel Hulk was neutered in Endgame because he didn’t have another bad ass fight scene in the movie. I wanted him to kick Cull Obsidian’s ass in the final fight. We didn’t get that. Instead Drax and Giant Man kill him. I thought it was good and hated it at the same time. If Hulk doesn’t fight MCU Wolverine and Thing, when they are introduced, then I will agree with those fans.

    For the record, Superman and Batman arguably had just as many fights with each other as Thor and Hulk had with each other. Also, while I never had any trouble with the first two Thor movies, I do think that Thor Ragnarok is currently the best Thor movie until Thor love and thunder comes out.

    Honestly, the Hulk/Saakar parts of this movie are the parts I don't like because they feel so tonally at odds with the rest of the movie. There are some issues with tonal whiplash for the movie in general, but the Sakaar parts are where it's most pronounced (aside from the destruction of Asgard being followed up with a joke). Also, I felt like the movie was really missing Jane, especially when they were going on about going through a wormhole. That's her whole thing, they could have put in more effort to include her, but alas. Thankfully, Taika is correcting the oversight, I cannot wait to see my favorite character get her due in July.

    Ugh, Ragnarok... I just HATE this movie. The worst MCU film in my option. I almost walked out of the theater in the literal first minute of the film. I should have, no other movie has ever made me that way. Once again, Beta Ray Bill is denied to us. Even more stupid humor. Dr. Strange has no problem trapping Loki but won't step in for Hela??? He won't even repair Mjolnir with the Time Stone? It NEVER explains how Hulk got to another planet even though he was shown to have crashed into the ocean in Age of Ultron. Ocean ➡️ Sakaar, how????? This wants to be a Thor and Hulk film simultaneously; it does both poorly. Surtur, Thor's biggest villain shows up with no build-up just to be a convenient plot device for the end. The destruction of Asgard now prevents the future appearance of anymore Thor villains, like the Enchantress. It also was poorly done; the gravity of losing one's home ruined by comedic banter. Thor leaves behind Gungnir... his father's spear, the one thing left of Odin, to be destroyed along with Asgard. Loki could have easily retrieved the spear BEFORE reviving Surtur then give it to Thor. Hela is ridiculously powerful, absurdly so. Also, fuck Valkyrie and her stupid ass smirking. So no, not in the least excited or willing to see Thor 4. 3 strikes, you're out, Thor.
