Thanks for sharing this 'how to'. Useful and straightforward. I'm presently modelling an RAF WW2 Bomber Command base for XP and your video got me to thinking how the navs planned their routes with map and compass, HS2 and Oboe systems. Keep them coming, thanks!
@@A_Catastrophic_Potato Little Staughton. It's looking superb too. Been working with the Airfield Research Group to ensure max accuracy, LIDAR mapped too.
Just found your channel and I’m loving your videos! I appreciate your relaxed approach to siming! I really appreciated this “simple” tutorial on navigation.
I'm real new to X-Plane. Years ago I was a heavy MSFS user. Collaborated with many different developers. Now I'm a Mac guy so X-Plane is the new normal. I'm finding it's confusing to use any addon scenery, however; adding aircraft is very straight forward. I'm also missing AI aircraft. Where are they and why are my GA airports so empty? I'd love to see some videos about those things. Thanks again for what you're doing!
"Somewhat Realistic-ish"😃That made me very happy. I'm always 100% aware I'm looking at my Mac screen when I'm "Flying", so I appreciate dialling back the procedures. There's so many things about this I really enjoyed. You have the perfect balance between flying for fun and flying like work. I've been watching some flight planning tutorials and start thinking, "I'm retired, I don't want another job". If I understand correctly, you don't necessarily have to have the destination airport as part of the flight plan, if you have waypoints set for the destination runway? I'm sure that violates official procedure, which awakens the 63-year-old bad boy flyer in me. 😈
I am of the same mentality. You can take the sim to study level and that has purpose if you need to keep current. However, the real fun of flying isn't in the procedures, it's in the 3 dimensional experience. I made another video with the same concept using a helicopter in Florida. Appreciate the feedback.
Ok, this tutorial is with the outdated Garmin 530, you need to have a new tutorial with the Garmin G1000. I still don't understand why x-plane 12 does not include the G1000 in all of its General Aviation planes. Hope to see your next tutorial with the Garmin G1000.
I too love flying the XP Baron 58! The B-58 is one of my favorite twin engines to fly. Next is DA Diamond 62, but it is surprisingly slower flying aircraft...at least the one's I have flown in XP!
When I was small I thought trains must be very difficult and dangerous to drive around because they only offer a tiny window for visibility ahead. Airplanes: Hold my beer.
Nice! I use the same sim. Did you notice that the course selector on the hsi does not automatically update as you sequence through waypoints? I am trying to figure out how that could be made to work right so it matches what happens in the real Baron.
I am having trouble responding to comments on RUclips. Not sure why. Apparently I can make a new comment. Anyway, to answer the setup question, I use a PC with an i9 intel, RTX3090 video card, 64GB ram and SSHD for the sim software. 3 tv's for video. I can't run at highest video settings if using 3 screens.

A Bomber Command base would be great! If that's something you would like to share, please do.

Right on target! Great tutorial. Now all I need is X-Plane 12

Glad you enjoy them! Any suggestions about videos, I'm always interested

"good thing it's not real". Lol I like that catch phrase.
Enjoyed your video. I'm just getting into ifr simming and found this. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice video, helps me out with the steps involved. Thanks!

On the descent, don’t pitch the props to high RPM until much later, when you pull the power to slow to approach speed.
One thing I am very unhappy with XP12 is how dark everything is no matter how bright settings are everything is ultra dark compared to XP11.
What setup/pc do you use for x plane flying?

The sim should emulate "porpoise" effect when landing flat or nosewheel first. very forgiving.
