After not dancing for three years due to health, Covid, family issues I resumed dance maybe 5 months ago. These videos have helped tremendously in refreshing my lost or forgotten memory and timing. Thanks!
Good question. The time step that we do here, is similar to the rock back part of the basic, but in the time step, you don’t put the heel down when you step back. You also have the option of dancing the timestep with the feet together and change weight (right, Left) then chasse / cha cha cha to the right. 😊 A full Basic includes a check forward with the left foot.

I am thoroughly enjoying this channel and I keep coming back to it whenever I feel like I need a refresher course. One thing I would like to see more of, though, is the explanation of cues a leader is supposed to give to their partner (seems you skip that part for some elements). Other than that, everything is perfect! :D
@@DanceInsanity Most of the time I'll be browsing the cha cha and rumba clips. Unfortunately I don't get to dance or practice those quite that often. In any case, whenever I re-watch a clip I see a nuance or a detail I've missed, which is what has me hooked ;)
Obviously, if you were living in the days of Perez Prado and La Sonora Matancera featuring Ceila Cruz, dancing the fast mambo - which is called "rumba" in Cuba, for 8 to 15 straight songs - can get your legs and feet so tired that you cannot dance anymore and sit out for the rest of your social mambo dance night at a Cuban club. That is why there was the need to slow down those fast "rumba-packed" mambos to something that people can dance to without being tired. With that, thanks to the "guajira" and "guaracha" folk dances from Cuba, these dances were incorporated as mambos in nearly half-time, and the shuffle step - the "cha cha cha", was added to make it just a little bit more exciting. This "triple step" was known as the "triple mambo," as you said it, and with observer Guy Barry, an American, seeing all of this action while in Cuba for a short time, went to the United States and spread the word there about the cha-cha, and with the help of Fred Astaire, made American rhythm cha-cha make a birth - and at nearly the same time, Monsieur Pierre from Europe saw the same things in Cuba and went back to Europe and codified the steps that was called International cha-cha. Pierre was that dancer who also made up the dance called the "square rumba."
Hi Steven! great question, thanks! when it comes to technique you want to have elements you do daily, like him action, arm styling, foot power, and so on, so you can get the new habits into your body. generally these things take time and consistency, much like learning a new language or playing a musical instrument, so you have to be willing to put in the time, and also create a feedback loop (i.e. video yourself and check your progress). as far as performance goes, once you know were the feet are going, and you have technique improving, the dancing has to convey an emotion. no emotion, usually nobody will bother watching with much interest. so performance developing the habit of bringing feeling or emotion. this three level idea isn't always the way to go for everyone, but for most it works. sometimes with raw feeling you can sort of get the energy to create technique (but it usually takes a pretty extroverted confident person). anyway, hope this helps and let me know how you are progressing. @Szymon Majkut That's very good that you notice the mistakes, because you can now change them! 🙌🏼 What other dances are you interested in seeing differences for? Whereabouts do you dance?
Hi Dance Insanity- what is the lead for the Hand to Hand? Is the follower supposed to "feel" the leader stepping back? New Yorker is easier, moving the arm forward plus the momentum of stepping in the same direction. Thanks!
@DebraP yes, follower should feel it if the leader leads it. 😉 Leader takes his connected hand with him as he rocks back. No extra "leading" needed if he keeps his arm more still. Try it out. Are u leading ?

How do you know when to use this dance? What dance do you use for what song? Why use a certain dance over others? So could you let me know, thanks love your channel
@Alfie Thomas Hello there! Good question. Songs that have a 4/4 timing with 110-120 beats per minute can be danced as a cha cha. You can listen to the song playlists for different dance styles on our channel (such as this cha cha playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLsyf2ALTZkhcwJIalQV4dkPOXSfGfFDJl ) to get a sense of what songs can be used for which latin dances. You would choose what dance to do according to the song's tempo/ vibe/ rhythms. Sometimes, certain songs can be danced as different styles, for example, a cha cha song can at times be a west coast swing etc. Once you understand the different dance styles, their rhythms and character, then it becomes easy to recognize what dance to do. :))

Excelente tutorial felicitaciones !!!!
Can you add the titles of music that you are using in videos? Though I love your movement tuturials, I spend too much time then looking for music to which I can practice! I have Apple music, so I should be able to find any music you might use.
Great video, everything explained in professional and funny way. I am wondering where did you find this sound from 9:12. I can't stop replay that part :d
@Szymon Majkut thank you! Glad you had fun dancing along with us. Tytus will let u know where that sound is from.. it really is funny. 🤣 Are u new to Cha Cha or been dancing for a while?
@@DanceInsanity My adventure with ballroom dance started year ago and include cha cha too. Thanks to your performance I will be polishing my technique. Thank you for these channel and videos :D
@Szymon Majkut Awesome! It's definitely an adventure, that keeps giving back. Any techniques/ patterns/ dances you'd like to see more videos of? 😊
@@DanceInsanity I am very interested in differences between dances for some time and that would be great to watch movies like this about differences between international and american rumba. I also appreciate the way you of pointing out common mistakes, unfortunately I founded many of them in my moves.
@Szymon Majkut That's very good that you notice the mistakes, because you can now change them! 🙌🏼 What other dances are you interested in seeing differences for? Whereabouts do you dance?
Thank you ! very clear.
You're welcome! 😊
glad u like it!
Thkq v much👍
You're welcome! 😊
very welcome!
I love cha cha cha
*New subs here! I am in love with **#ChaChaDance** now since I've been listening to **#Sway** by **#PussyCatDoll**! Throw back! I love **#Salsa** + **#Bachata** + **#Merengue** + **#FoxDance** and now **#Chacha**! Luv from **#Bali**!* 💃💚

Thanks for making this video 👏👏👏👏👍
✌️🙂🙂 cha cha cha!
Thank you so much for helping me learn this. :) It really helped
@Nanny May get it! 🙌🏼 are u prepping for something?
Awesome tutorial
@Pst Arnold glad you are enjoying it. 😊 What dance styles are you dancing?
@@DanceInsanity doing chacha started yesterday,....

@Syntax hello! In New Yorker, you rock/ step forward. In hand to hand, you rock/ step back. 😊
Dance Insanity ohh okaaayy I get it now thank youuu
@Syntax Cool! you're welcome. Are you having fun learning the Cha Cha? What's easy and what's challenging?
Haha loved this video, absolutely hilarious, really helped with my training too. Thanks guys.
PES_ JR hey there and welcome! What are you training for? Competition? 😊
glad you liked it!
Yeah it's for a charity event, I really enjoy dancing, might even keep it up after the event just for a hobby. Been watching all your videos, I like how they aren't so serious, dancing should be fun.
PES_ JR nice! You're right - dancing should be fun. 🙌🏼 Did u just start dancing because of this charity event? What dance(s) are you performing?
@@DanceInsanity yeah I did the same charity event last year but as I had no partner to carry on dancing after the event I never got back into it until they asked me to take part again this year..... I'm doing the cha cha, the swing jive, a waltz and a line dance. I really need some new moves for the swing jive though, I only know like 5 basic moves.
ha ha ha. i love it.i want to dance with you!!
Awesome! Yes. Come dance! ✌🏼😀
