This what makes helicopters so special, despite the poor conditions and limited visibility if done correctly a helicopter can get it done. Where a fixed wing would not be flying there at all and also would need a field to land and take off from. Even if some bush planes take off from a few feet, you gotta be able to get down too. :)
Might one of the more intense flights I've seen on RUclips with so much cloud coverage and the snow and rain, so cool and also scary!
I only get to fly virtual helicopters my self sadly! But thats fun as well!

Magic. You have a task worthy of your skill, that's for certain. That type of flying is as difficult as it is dangerous. You handle both like a boss. The closest I can get to that is flying my helo's in my flight sims. Even then it makes me nervous to go into the mountain valleys. Wind, ice, fog and that old friend VRS all are trying to kill you. And that's just in a sim! You're doing the real deal where there is no "reload" if you screw up. No ALT+CNT+F9 to reset life...

As it happens I stumbled onto a youtube vid of a Calibri going into incipient GR and the pilot catches it right away and dumps collective and gets on the brake. It appeared that a concrete surface with a depression on one corner, allowing the machine to rock from corner to corner some small amount was enough to allow sufficient undamped lateral movement of the mast. I suppose there are times when it's a good idea when shut down on an uneven surface to go back to the tail and see if you can rock it, and if you can, wedge something under the skid like sticking a matchbook under a table leg.
