@@sK23478 very good, clean, quiet, was mostly empty since my arrival was in the afternoon/early evening. The good part is that the Penn station is close to everything so you can take the subway or just walk if you don't have too much luggage.
@@karrarraza4369 yeah penn station in the corner of W31st and 7th ave . It’s close to everything around Manhattan . Thank you Karrar for replying . Hopefully my train wouldn’t be too crowded !😄
i got so emotional because this is the trip i take every year for my birthday with my dad and when you guys went into penn station i teared up a little
Aww thats great to hear. I take this trip every year with my uncle so I kind of have a similar reaction when seeing videos of good ol' penn station. Thanks for watching! Happy travels! :) - Cole
I seriously believe that a lot of The early morning and late evening Empire service trains that start and end in ALB-RENS should be extended to serve Schdy and Saratoga Springs. Schdy wants the early trains too...yes I know trains would have to run push pull since there's no turn around facility in Schdy or Saratoga. That would mean Cab cars or 2 locos for that to happen.
The train hits a fallen tree just outside the station? You mean no one checks the tracks around the station? Rode this train many times when I worked in Albany and had business in NYC. Beautiful trip. Not as fast as it is today, but it was still a great way to get to NYC. Was able to get coffee and a snack and then do my work. Unfortunately, they removed the food service several years ago.
Yep. It is a fun trip i take quite often. The tree fell down sometime between 2am and 5am, as we were the first train of the morning to go south, we hit it. Wasnt that large of a tree. we were only stopped for about 10 minutes to reset the breaks and such. Thanks for watching!
There is a hell of a lot of nostalgia for me in this video. Thanks!!!!!
Great video! I have the NY-Albany route on my train simulator game.
Love it. Going to take this train for Christmas. Thank you so much for the video!
How was it ?
Taking the same train but from Niagara falls next week .

AmtrakPNW nice
+Cats01 why did they remove it
I don't live in the area any more. From what I read it was a "cost-saving" measure. They closed the Commissary in Rensellaer.
Yea it is too short for food service
you may have been late but late is better than never, isn't it?
How long did the trip take???
The trip takes about 2 and a half hours. It is by far the easiest way to get to NYC from upstate
AmtrakPNW thanks!
I'm surprised they don't run metro north to Albany, it is just about the same distance to Montauk (LIRR)
Good text explanations, but squash the mumbling in the background.
