    Kind of buried the lede there. If someone doesn't watch the whole video they'll think you liked it.

      Yeah I know... It was one of my very first RUclips videos so my editing was bad and overall set up, I just didn't know better on a proper video. The only thing I can say is it was honest, I did like it at first and the more I used it the more I realized all be it adequate there is better but obviously for more $$. I've since used a Kreg and and now use Massca and they do the job much better in my opinion. Such is the journey. Thanks for watching all the way through, much appreciated.

    It blows away the Kreg Jig, and for 59 bucks quality was way better than plastic kreg jigs for same price.

    it's the drill bit, not the jig. for anyone who wants to save the bucks, pick up the Drill Master and just pair it with Kreg's bit and make sure to use their screws.

      Thinking back I think your right... but I ended up going to a Kreg K5 but have not really used it yet. I do like that the Kreg had built in dust collection instead of me having to adapt something. In the end I may have been hasty on the return but am happy with the K5 purchase. I did see a review of a Pocket Hole jig by Armour Tools that looks really interesting but price is even higher than the K5.
      I'm usually very happy with my HF purchases too. I actually like the Drill Master pocket 1" pocket hole screws. The Kreg one's don't have that "washer" head or at least the one's I have where as the Drill Master one's were larger pan head which is nice to ensure not over driving them. I am going to look and see in that 1" if I can get something other than Kreg for that reason. Thanks for watching!!

      @@4321Woodworking Just an idea here, but why dont you pick the Drill Master back up and give it a full go with a Kreg bit. Make multiple types of joints with it, check strength of HF screws, etc. Make for some more content. Worst case scenario, you take it back again

    • @4321Woodworking
      @4321Woodworking  3 года назад +1

      @@andrewrn271 I'll consider that thanks!! I do like the K5 so far for the few features it has above the Drill Master not that the Drill Master was bad except the bit. The main driver was the K5 went on sale due to the 720s coming out which put it into my budget. But maybe one of these days I'll get back up there and get the Drill Master and have a side by side go round with them.

    • @jodilaiggajay
      @jodilaiggajay 2 года назад +1

      @Andrew RN it’s not the drill bit. I tested the Kreg drill bit on this jig as well as the more expensive massca m1. There is significant tear out even with the Kreg bit. I got a Kreg 720 and found that the pocket holes come out super clean. This convinced me that Kreg jig definitely does a significantly better job even though it doesn’t seem to have the all metal body that some of the other jigs have. I think if you care about the ease of use and quality of the holes they make, Kreg is definitely the way to go.

      I'm really thinking about getting the Armor. I know 731 Woodworks has one coming and will review it and awaiting that to make a final decision on K5 (if I can find one still) vs Armor but from what I've seen it's like an 80% lean towards Aromr.

    I like that you can adjust the holes laterally- too bad it didn't provide a better pocket hole. I used to absent-mindedly use the wrong pair of holes on the K4.

      That's ironic because I had picked up a K5 but returned it and am going to get an Armor based on your review of it. If you do pick it up definitely make a video and do me a favor and see if you get tear out with the bit provided after say a dozen pocket holes and then try a Kreg or Armor bit in it just to see if it tears out. I've heard it's the bit, my theory was that nothing was supporting the board on either side of the hole with this jig. Sorta like why you put a backer board when drilling to prevent tear out. But since I don't own it now I can't test it.

      The bit that comes with it is specifically designed for pocket holes. I have a portable Kreg setup that came with a bit as well as two Masca pocket hole jigs that came with bits and all just drill a little bit better. I honestly don't think it was the bit now having seen many of the other jigs I think it was the lack of support where it drove the hole?

  • @trata1964
    @trata1964 3 года назад

    I got mine a few years back and I regretted it, a lot of wood tear-out, and the holes are too close to the edge if you compare it with the holes made with the Kreg. Also you have to continusly clean the wood chips in order to set more boards flat on the bottom. Unfortunately, I didn't return mine on time so I still have it but never use it again. I will see if I can sell it. I don't recommend this jig to anyone.

    • @4321Woodworking

      CubanArt I've not gotten one BUT Armor has a trade in option and you can get $70 for that Drill Master jig. The link is here: armor-tool.com/make-the-trade/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9YWDBhDyARIsADt6sGaVFacFkTWHRcX9cmwmn-mDoNRcI2kZXnsiVPVupo2GqUOL7b9afXEaAhxVEALw_wcB
      I've heard good things about that Armor but again not gotten one yet. Just an option and depending on what sale you hit $70 may be more than you paid for that drill master ;) But it does leave you moving to a single next option that isn't necessarily inexpensive option but getting $70 off of it. Reviews of it say it's better than the 720 pro
