How about tons of skill, if only a bit of luck allowed this then every player would be about to pull this off. I really wish people would stop using that word when it isn't appropriate. The game is precise this, there's nothing lucky about it, the loadout is geared to result in this outcome, only variable is the player attack strings that do not build up enough damage to KO to keep control of the fight in the players hands. When you think about it carefully, there is almost zero luck at play. Luck is used to describe a coincidence that benefits, only thing here this game everything is precision based, everything that happens is because of player actions before, during and after certain actions of the monster. These monsters have patterns, hints and wind ups. Skilled played have only claimed luck when they weren't sure of something and what they did panned out, though in reality when they continually run the battle there is no luck whatsoever involved as they recognize the patterns.
To the common player what we experience is far different from a professional speedrunner, hence why you used a little bit of luck. Perhaps if the game had organic AI you can toss luck in there, but alas that doesn't exist in MHW, it's scripted and the fact no Palico is around is proof that removal of variables leaves the monster in the most focused condition for this type of run. Also the player attacks have certain number of frames to them which is also taken into consideration, you don't have variable speeds with the same attack, it's always the same. I'm pretty sure the number of hits with savage axe charged was counted before KO was reached, I cannot belittle this type of dedication with the word luck. Sure they might not react negatively to it, but if you think about it all, you'd refrain from using it as well. I see 100% skill in a game all about numbers and timing underneath the pretty. 👍

In arena, the monster won't ever limp away, and occasionally the trappable icon doesn't even show up until the very last few hits before the monster dies(at least for me, but that might be awful research levels doing that). This normally makes anyone but speedrunners feel like trapping isn't an option, as the most noticeable tell for if you can trap it doesn't show up.

Safi always gives you at least one weapon from the weapon type you use to hunt him so just hunt Safi with CB and you're golden
what matters more for impact phial? attack or crit? im using the pink rathian CB and grinding my mr to get to gold rathian event+guiding land. i hope i can upgrade my cb after this
With Impact phial your Elemental discharges can't crit and scale with your raw, while the axe and sword attacks (minus the little ticks that show up in amped mode) can crit. It really depends on your playstyle. If you just spam SAED, build for artillery and attack up and maybe throw some crit in there. If you focus more on physical attacks (because CB has some beastly motion values anyways), build for crit and throw in artillery for the occasional AED.
TL:DR if you use Axe mode for most of your damage, build artillery. If you use sword mode for most of your damage, build crit.
PS: it's been a while since I used CB so the meta probably changed a bit. Feel free to double check me and definitely take what I say with a grain of salt

If you had to upgrade two SF CB, which would they be? Thunder, Aqua or Dragon? Plzzz help i dont have enough materials to maximize the three weapons
if you want just one weapon then build a blast or poison weapon as they will be useful against all monster's but if your going the elemental path you really need one of each element to take advantage of the monster's elemental weakness

How do you use normal amp discharge with charged shield? I always super amp
During the super wind up hold back on the left stick and press Triangle (for PS4) or the top button (Y I think??? For Xbox). Practice it in training mode first cuz it does feel kinda weird
Going with the chain saw mode is better than super discharge? Damage wise?
It has a mildly higher DPS, and offers greater maneuverability during the combo. In layman, it means you can deal more damage with less risk. Discharge is all well and good, but only for monsters that have periodic breaks with dizzying attack/movement speed, where any damage dealt is damage that has to be dealt fast.

Matthew Stefan yeah. What big mayhem said. You’ll get it Jan 9th, it’s honestly such a great move. But people like him make it look better than it is. It takes a minute to set up into it. But once you’ve got it queued, you’ll see it looks like the shield and sword mixed icon near the health bar, it stays active until you run out of Phials. (90% certain)

Sm00thWizard Yes which is why you now run Safi set for SAED spam playstyle (formerly it was Namielle set). But with Savage ax all the extra hits you get with the ax *can* crit which is why you run true crit element on them. All speed runs before Safi update that used savage ax ran true crit element for that reason which is why it's weird that he's using Safi set bonus over Silver Rath in this run.

Gabriel Franchino, if I’m not mistaken, that’s the skill offensive guard, you just block right before an attack and it’s less recoil and atk boost
Right trigger + triangle
It's not a counter, It's a guard point. Basically CB has moves that count as blocking during certain parts of the move (like the switch from sword mode to axe mode). If you block with a guard point like that you can go immediately into an AED.
How do you go from standstill to ed like @ 1:28?
Perfect guarding let’s you counter and you go into that animation and you choose what to do with it.

Prob due to the fact the affinity increase for attackimg wounded parts is so much bigger than Crit Eye, seeimg as the head was wounded for the entire quest, makes more sense to use wex
What Rush said and the fact that he's wearing 5-piece Safi'Jiiva armor, which gives him "True Dragonvein Awakening" which increases his affinity and elemental damage whenever his weapon is unsheathed. It's better to use WE in this situation since it gives 50% affinity on wounded parts for just 3 points, while you have to sacrifice armor slots and decoration slots for 7 points into Critical Eye for 40% affinity. The 50% affinity on wounded parts with the added 20%-40% affinity from True Dragonvein Awakening (Forgot how much affinity TDVA gives when unsheathed) is much more benificial and cheaper to add while having the rest of your slots open for QoL skills. The 70%-90% affinity that this build achieves with WE and TDVA is enough for Crit Boost level 3 to deal insane damage without relying on sacrificing slots for Critical Eye.
Rathian almost permanently immobilised so I suspect that it should be some modifications of monster struggle value in game code.

They have new moves, as well as a powered up state they go in and I think the poison they do (especially gold rathian) is way worse
Normal versions < Subspecies (Azure and Pink) < Rare subspecies (Silver and Gold)

I don't have a charge blade with this savage axe ability. Are they only from something like elder dragons? Or from other monsters?
As long as you have the Iceborne expansion you have access to Savage axe mode. When doing the combo to discharge your phials you hit LT/L2 to power up your axe. Your axe remains in this state as long as you have phials stored.

@@wizard9368 no problem brother man don't feel too bad about not knowing it. Some people were using charge Blade for months and didn't know you could charge your sword and shield. Hell I didn't know how to do the SAED until a little after 2 months of using charge Blade

How do you do the atk so that it is not megashock?
If you have it prepped for mega, once you go into the attack move backwards (relative the player) and hit triangle, that should step the attack from mega down to ultra

@@daetton4910 dude just dont question anything hes done, he played savage axe only which is the superior playstyle on alot of monster, combined with impact mantle he can stun/staggerlock the monster the whole fight. EDIT: savage axe elemental AED also does over 1k dmg while only using 1 phial on a weakspot like G.Rathians head
