- The plan was simple: land in Trondheim, Norway, and start exploring like go for a hike, do some winter kayaking and see the city. But when the plane suddenly pulled up mid-descent (twice) and we got rerouted back to Oslo, everything changed. What happened next? A travel detour, an unexpected overnight stay, and an adventure-filled day discovering Trondheim’s hidden gems, Viking history, and incredible Nordic culture.
In this video, you’ll see what it’s really like to visit Trondheim, Norway and the events leading up to my unexpected day. AND my honest thoughts on if Trondheim is worth visiting?

Thank you for visiting our city! There was a bad storm as you can see at 4:19. January is really not the best time to visit Trondheim as it will be dark and cold, but when the weather turns warmer people love to go outdoors! I would recommend may, july or august, when a lot of things are happening!
Hmmm, I stayed in Trondheim for 5 years..... 😆😃 Yup, I used to live there and it's a very nice and social city to live in !!! To be a low-cost carrier, Norwegian Airlines has a good reputation, and as you point out, all well deserved !! Great video again Natasha and Looking forward to the next one !!
Wow you must know the place really well! I hope you had a great time overall :)
@@NatashaBergen I did indeed !! I moved there to attend a school for 2 years and ended up staying the for additional 3 years after finishing !! 😁 Trondheim is a city with a LOT of students, so it is a pretty vibrant nightlife in the weekends. Even in winter !! It does look its best in summerclothes though, so maybe a revisit then Natasha? 😁
Great video! Trondheim is a very interesting city! It's good to see you had a good time! I really enjoyed watching this!
Happy you liked it Michael 😊
@NatashaBergen I really did! :)
Hi!
Good to see you again. I haven`t been to Trondheim so thank you for the tour! Looks nice!
Will keep my eyes open for your Åre vid😁!
It’s coming soon 😉 hope I can do it justice
I absolutely love your videos ! I’ve actually booked Bergen for my family based on your videos. Keep up the amazing work !
Awe that’s amazing! I hope you have an amazing time!!
There is also a pilgrimage trail from Sundsvall to Trondheim over the mountains. Fantastic cathedral indeed, although it is Lutheran the very popular and beloved Catholic bishop prelate of Trondheim Erik Varden was consecrated there
Trondheim is my favorite small city, I had planned to study at the University of Science and Technology there, typically ranked as the best student town and was the only place we could get higher degree in technology. Yes, it's a historical town, 1000 years ago it was the stronghold of the north, there are rock carvings from Stone Age, so people been here since the last Ice Age. The area is an European food district and a sporting hub. There is an unreal bias of winners in winter sports and the surrounding area offer some fantastic skiing and hiking. The fjord is open, which means more light and wonderful sunsets. The downside of Trondheim is in my view the weather, too many rainy days, but Trondheim nowhere as rainy as Bergen.
Ey you came to the coffee shop where I usually sit and do my work! Glad you liked it here.
As always a fantastic video Natasha.
New camera is awesome. Can't wait for the next one.
The food looked so good. (Too expensive though... 😁)
Be safe
Eeee did you see a difference? 😍 yes food was a lot but wow was it yummy!
Nice!
Good to see you!
Big love mate, glad you’re ok x
So glad you enoyed Trondheim! I live here❤
Lucky! Great place to live!
I live just down the hill from the fortress. Glad you enjoyed the city. Welcome back on a warm summer day. 😁
Wow you’ve got a great view then!
@@NatashaBergen Looking right at the Nidaros cathedral from my balcony, so can't complain. :)
The Nidaros Cathedral was initially built back around 1300, but it burned a number of times since then and was basically left as a ruin some time after the reformation, until som national-romantics restored it in a long process starting in 1869 and finishing in 2001. So much of what you see, like the roofs etc., are newer.
Most Norwegians will not get upset when airplanes have to turn around. Norway is a long stretch country, and weather can easily change. If the pilots or the aircontrol decide to turn a flight around, then they do it for a very good reason.
By the way, I hate the in-flight to Trondheim. It's always a bumpy ride flying into Værnes
Nice to see you popping by our city. Next time consider reach out (most people here is really welcoming) and let us help you get the most out of the city and the surroundings (I guess you also would love the woods and the mountains) - maybe you even want to walk the pilgrim path from Oslo (or Sweden) to the Nidaros Cathedral…
Same here! I'm an import here, but LOVE the city and the history. I get excited to be a tourist in my own city when I show a visitor around.
Should go to Forbordsfjellet just outside the airport in Stjørdal, have a view all over the fjord.
Trondheim/Værnes airport is known for this issue even when winds are relatively calm. I have heard pilots say it is the worst airport to land on.
Hello from Trondheim :)
I was born there 😃👍
I`m sure you can😊!
My favourite city in the world
Niiiiiice! 🔥
@NatashaBergen Hope you'll get to come back when it's sunny!
😁
I used to hsve a friend from oslo norway
Bummer about the train, the station just outside Trondheim is called Hell (although not sure if you go past going to Åre)
Yes she would pass that station at Hell when going to Åre. This station is where the 2 train lines, Nordland line and Meråker line (to Sweden ) splits.
@@josteingravvik2381 Yep. This is something we've been wanting to do for a while, but the trains have been so bad and the 'bus for train' service just does NOT appeal.
@ I understand !! If you are close to Trondheim, you could go there by car, its only like 30kms or so to get there from downtown Trondheim.
I got diverted there by chance when driving up to Lofoten, wasnt prepared for it so didnt stop.
@@notsonominal I see.. pity.. Well, you don't see this old train station from the highway, so you would have taken some small back roads to get to it.. It's hard to find by chance...
4:13 hey, not only ladies appreciate toilet paper in its place 🤣
Touché 😂
You missed the Crown Jewels.....
😳
