I'm wondering if Oliver might take to the water better a second time? Now that he's been? Although I'm sure his dads don't want to push Oliver into doing something he really doesn't want to do - this time, it was just trying to help him like the water, and the raft was a thoughtful insight. I thought Oliver was brave and thoughtful, too...and glad to be back on land with his ball. But another time, maybe? I understand that beagles don't naturally take to water, which is surprising. Our dog loved water (although hated baths) and would leap into streams nearby on a hot summer day. It was hard to get her to come home.

My 2 year old Beagle loves the small lakes and streams. Me: "No, do NOT jump in the lake! Beagle: Ker-splash!😊 Tolerates baths but goes full blown zoom-Beagle when done.
My 2 yr. old beagle must be a diva. If it's too hot, too cold, or too wet outside you'll find her under a comforter sound asleep. But kudo's to Oliver for his great sense of adventure.
My parents have a 12 year old female Beagle Dachshund cross and she absolutely loves being bathed she loves getting wet. They also used to have a female Beagle saint bernard cross who passed away aged 16 and you couldnt get her near water she absolutely hated it.
Oliver always listens, 'thinks' and observes everything very carefully, especially, if something is new for him, but he is always extremely patient - awesome. But at the end he is doing, what his daddy expects him to do, because the most important for Oliver is, to make his family happy, always caring for him so lovely, 'CS' from Germany. 😉🙋♀️

Oliver is so cute. He was trusting enough to step onto the float completely even if it was for a treat. Then he stood there for some floating and gliding, even though he looked frozen. His temperament is exceptional considering he didn’t really want to get out there and was happy to get off. Maybe he will enjoy the water someday with such gentleness and patience from his owner. I love watching him.
I love how Oliver's tail is poised like a sword when he is thinking. My lab mix tail forms the curved part of a question mark by his rump when he is contemplating something.
That's a great observation! I love how Oliver's tail registers his mood in this video--it's up when he's hopeful and expecting a treat, and it's down when he's on the float/raft and thinking "oh, no, what is happening to me now!"
Love you Oliver. If you ever take a road through Michigan, I got a beagle girl for you. Bella's a bit of a diva but loves to romp and play with the boy's. She drives my son's male pit bull crazy. lol

LOL yes--he is sooo funny that way! He does the same thing when we wash his paws in the bathtub--even if only his paws are wet, he still shakes himself off.
I love the way you reason with Oliver and he actually seems to understand. The doggy treat float is a riot. He really loves you. He’s paralyzed on that thing. He’s such a sweet little fellow. My beagle did not like water either.

I've had beagles all my life...am on #10 and #11. Please go over the benefits (for others) of owning a beagle....few heath issues, minimal shedding (short coat), great w/ kids, protective of owners, etc. Thank you for all the videos which are a treat for me AND Sadie and Molly to watch.

Be patient Dad.....a few more treats and perhaps a solid raft instead of the spongy inflatable one. We started that way with Rufus and he grew to love the water. Once I filled the tub and had to answer the land-line...Rufus wasn't in the tub yet. After the call I went looking for him and found him sitting in the tub with a squeaky toy.
I love the little patch of white on his bum. My first Beagle had just like that. We just adopted a littler Beagle recently and she also has that white patch…..how beautiful Beagles are.
Ha ha! Oliver on the raft-“God I hate my humans!” Had some friends that had a Maltese that they took to the lake, and she wouldn’t get in the water either.
My beagle hated water! It’s so nice to see Oliver having such a great time. As a mother, kind of wish he had a life jacket but water was super shallow.
Ooh, a life jacket would have been great! We do have one--we used it on our Lake Tahoe trip. He looks so cute in it! And it kept him safe out on the water.

This is great--I love Oliver's comments on the raft (mayday, mayday!), and the fact that the raft has a bone pattern. I know from long experience that beagles are NOT water dogs, though Oliver should watch videos of Smudge in NZ, who seems to be the exception as she runs through the ocean waves.

Amazing, Oliver always brings beautiful memories back. The last Cocker Spaniel usually didn't like water too much - in a pool, a lake or even in the bath tube. ... But then, in Italy at the beach, I just went deeper into the sea. After a moment, he just followed me, first very carefully, but then he had a lot of fun. He probably discovered the first time that he can swim. ... Suddenly water was no problem any more, and he was not scared at all. And now - I miss him, but Oliver always makes that easier - thank you, 'CS' from Germany. 😉🙋♀️

"Water is too wet" 😂😂😂 Oh Oliver, you're such a cutie. 🥰 We took our beagle/basset camping a couple of weeks ago, near North Lake Tahoe. There was a river by our campsite, and she discovered that she not only CAN swim, but that it's fun!

We took our beagle/basset camping a couple of weeks ago, near North Lake Tahoe. There was a river by our campsite, and she discovered that she not only CAN swim, but that it's fun!

This was a really fun video.Oliver tried something new and it turned out fine.Then the way he amuses himself with the ball is so cute.Lastly,running around the house with the toy was adorable too.
