    People shouldn't expect one version to be better than the other. The black and white version is supposed to give a different experience. It's like when a musician plays a cover version of a song or remixes a song, they're not necessarily trying to make a better version. They're trying to make a version that expresses different messages and emotions.
    The b&w version of Fury Road has a more surreal feel. The way the cars emerge from the dust makes them look like monstrous creatures. The movie is dream-like and there is more of a sense that it is a story being retold by someone else.

      I fully agree. It's not about which version is better; it's about having an additional version of a film to enjoy from a different perspective.

    RUclips compression doesn't serve it justice, but Mad Max: Fury Road: Black and Chrome edition looks fantastic on BluRay. Some scenes looked better with color, but others are completely gorgeous in monochrome.

    I prefer Fury Road in all its hyper saturated glory, but Logan in bw is definitely interesting so far (I haven't finished watching it).

    I just watched Mad Max: Fury Road in Black and Chrome. And I loved it. Not only is it one of my favorites and I'm bound to see the movie many times again (including color of course), but I just loved the vibe I got from B&W. For sure will watch this movie again.

    And please don't forget Man Who Wasn't There by Coen brothers which also exists in colour and B&W!

      Intersting, I didn't know there is a color version of that movie - I only watched the monochrome version and found it very fitting to the subject matter.

    Simple: Black and White makes a movie more Dramatic because you literally only manage light and shadows.

    Logan noir is definitely a wonderful watch due to it not having anything too flashy of gigantic set pieces and also the darker theme makes it a perfect b&w film, especially in 4k. But being an hdr and dolby Vision fan myself, i LOVE the way road fury looks in all its 4k messy colour brightness glory. Especially those huge explosions, they give my tv a workout. Love both versions and cant wait for Zack Snyder's Justice League wich will also be coming out in b&w supposedly.

    REally interesting video .. some of the shots especially from Fury Road look stunning in Black and White even though I personally still prefers the colour-version

    Is also amazing with the better cameras we have now how crisp & clear the footage looks.
    I don't have the right words but it sort of jumps off the screen and there is something about modern black and white that mesmerises me in certain scenes when things are in perfect focus close up. I think it's just you can concentrate on things not because colour is distracting or you can't see the contrast or shadows as well.
    I sing dumb I know. Maybe a film expert or someone can explain to me why and maybe even express to me better what I mean it am trying to say if they at all understand what I am trying to get at.
    Yes I know it probably subs like gibberish but I am genuinely fascinated by both the visusl science of my brain interpreting the physical reality of it all.
    So I guess there is the brain & the actual technology to understand & explain.

    It's the same with Photography, Monochrome (black and white) looks and feels better. You get more detail, texture and mood shooting in monochrome.

    I thought some scenes looked better in color, still worth buying the Black & Chrome version of Fury Road.
    The problem is that they weren't shot for B&W so they don't work as well as the color scenes.

  • @Trowarr
    @Trowarr 6 лет назад +4

    I prefer my action movies in colour, explosions and such doesn carry the same punch in B&W.
    Noir and thrillers on the other hand, because the focus there isnt so much on the visual.
    Horrors works best when they start out in a world as grounded as possible, that loses a bit in B&W although the actual scary part might work better in B&W leaving more to the imagination.

    I wasn't actually a fan of how Logan noir looked. Rather, it felt a little at odds with what the movie is going for. The B&W look in theory is a neat throwback to the days of classic 50s westerns like High Noon, but the kind of western Logan really takes after is a brutal late 60s/70s flick like Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch, which is brutally colourful.

    Logan might be a slight improvement in black and white. But I personally believe fury road is meant to be seen in color. Its just a beautiful movie. The beauty of the color does not take away from the bleak story.

  • @gimmeehands1

    You can just turn all the colors and whatever else in your TV’s settings down and make any movie black and white!!!! You can even have NOIR videogames!

  • @AlexanderDiviFilius
    @AlexanderDiviFilius 7 лет назад +1

    I prefer the black and chrome fury road because I have eyes. The neon colours of the film feel out of place, as far as I'm concerned. Logan looks fine either way, save for the first scene, which is better in the noir version. I always saw Logan being more of a neo-western of sorts than in any way inspired by noir to be honest. Maybe that's why I largely am indifferent to the versions. That and the lack of neon compared to fury road.

    bother films work really well in color or black and white. i prefer color for both. however watching in black and white was nice.

  • @mackstertube
    @mackstertube 5 лет назад

    Is actually amazing when you die it on the black and white then you turn on the colour suddenly it did not look at good or too much and the scene loses impact. That is so weird how it looks better when put one after the other. I would not have guessed I would like the black and white more. I have loved some movies in black and white like sin city & rumble fish. I just watched 12 angry men original the other day which is a fantastic black & for movie which is all made you don't notice the amazing techniques used by skilled director and producer of you can immerse yourself in it and turn that analytical film brain off.

    I personally think Fury Road looks way better in color. There's one mainly fact: in the movie they talk about the "green". When you've been watching a full orangish-toned movie and suddenly the green pops out, you can feel the characters' "FINALLY". I don't think there's a way to do that in the black and white version.

  • @josueamericanistarv
    @josueamericanistarv 7 лет назад

    I agree with what Tarkosvky said in a masterclass. Color started the downfall of film, is distracting of the essential aspects of movie language which are action, blocking and movement. Movies in Black and white are just better because of this. 99% of Movies nowadays use color to try to make up for a lack of interesting cinematic storytelling.

  • @agraciotti
    @agraciotti 7 лет назад +11

    Fury Road is incredible with or without color (still prefer the colors, though).
    Logan is bad either way. A black & white version will not make it look more mature as it failed to be.

      I HIGHLY disagree in your Logan statement both movies are beautifully constructed well written and well done putting Logan in black and white gives it's tone a much grittier feel than it's already dark and saddening story but that's just my opinion
