  • This is a composition by Tangerine Dream, created for Michael Mann's 1983 supernatural horror film "The Keep", based on the novel of the same name by F. Paul Wilson.
The film stars Sir Ian McKellen as Prof. Theodor Cuza, a Jewish Romanian historian in WW2 who is retrieved from a Nazi concentration camp and assigned to decipher a message following a series of deaths in the titular citadel, and Alberta Watson as his daughter Eva.
Although it is generally considered the director's least regarded work, this may be mainly due to the fact that it was originally released in a very truncated form. As a result, several important plot moments (which comprise nearly half the film's length) were missing in the original theatrical release, which made the plot rather confusing to viewers. The missing scenes were later restored in a three hour Director's Cut, however, due to rights issues, it has not yet been released on DVD or BluRay in North America.
(That is not to say that the original release did not recieve some praise, specifically for its soundtrack and for its effective combination of gothic horror and WW2 elements.)
As far as the music is concerned, the album itself is less of a soundtrack and more of a concept album based on the original novel, since only four of the sixteen tracks actually appear in the film.
The video itself consists of some images of ancient Mayan ruins in Central America, particularly the temples (which may be considered something of an "ancient powerplant" spiritually) as well as a cover of the novel and the poster for the film.
On a final note, I would like to give apologies (and thanks) to azrael1982PL, for providing me with the music.
