The reason people look to the 80s music, with affection, is because pop music still had MELODIES back then, unlike modern junk music.

In 80s music was melodic and fun, when todays music is boring.
his song- "the riddle" is one of my top ten songs of the eighties- PERIOD!- (the sheer complexity of it- the lyrics and structure are am amazing!!!)
He admitted in an interview the lyrics of riddle were meaningless, but just fit the melody well.
