I would see a Blade reboot no matter who was cast. Seeing that it's Mahershala Ali was a double-win. He blew me away in Moonlight and True Detective.
And Green Book
@@nimasarajpoor1358 You're right.
He was phenomenal in Green Book
His acting was okay to me in True Detective. Only bits of Green Book. Wasn't impressed either. A good actor overall, but not crazy good.
@@J-Hue good enough to win 2 oscars juss sayin🤷🏾♂️ and besides micheal jai white i don’t trust anyone with this role more than ali and he loves and respects blade so much that he will make sure he does everything to be the best blade he can be
He already was the standout in the Marvel Netflix show Luke Cage. He was the perfect choice for Blade in this era
And the villain in Into the Spiderverse.
@@Annapurna818 "Villain"
Michael Jai White would have been a good choice he's a martial artist in real life and already swole so they could have just basically gave him the script and start filming but this guy is a good choice to he just needs to put on some Mass
Cottonmouth it is
His role as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage was a knockout performance.
If there was ANYONE who could carry on the torch from Wesley Snipes, it’s Mahershala Ali. He’s the perfect choice for Blade.
Wesley is killing in character in the new Netflix limited series called _True Story._
Yes he would make a perfect young Blade
Wesley Snipes was physically an incredible Blade, but his acting was atrocious. And subsequent Blade movies he really phoned it in. Snipes just got worse over the years. Havent seen his new series, I hope its his redemption
After watching True Story on Netflix I definitely wants Snipes back for a cameo or elder roll of some sort
I've never heard of this dude, but he killed this interview. Yes I've been living in a box for 3-4 years now.
Yeah, I can totally see him as Blade. Great fit.
One of the greatest actors of our time. Excited for everything he does. Excited for Blade!
Fun fact:
Mahershala Ali wasn't "chosen" to play Blade. He contacted Marvel and basically cast himself. Look it up.
If true: that's what you do if you have 2 Oscars. Contact and say "Yup, it's me you lucky guys!"
Yup he walked into the office and said I want to play role of blade, Feige aas like when Blade says he wants to be blade you let him.
He was already in the mcu, in Luke cage
Yes. The power & confidence
@@dishansinghmehta8891 to sum it up, it basically went
Ali: Hey Kevin. Blade
Feige: Yes, welcome aboard
I remember watching House of Cards years ago and thinking, if they ever make a new Blade, this guy needs to be Blade.
I’m so glad I got to be introduced to him through that show. A standout role for a truly magnificent actor.
Is this a troll comment ? He is being blade lmao
@@TheChristian50 reading comprehension isn't your thing, is it?
@@andrewnibbi I had the same experience. I first saw him in House of Cards and loved every minute of his role. Truly an amazing performer
I said the same thing about Chadwick Boseman when i first saw 42 thinking he’d be the perfect black panther. Was so happy when they announced it.
I was so hyped hearing his voice at the end of Eternals.
Best part of that whole movie imo!
Yea from his voice I can tell he is gonna do a good job
@@Hgh38 It sucks that we won't see Blade and T'challa in a future Avengers movie 😞
@@nealsmall9316 yeah I know😔😔RIP King Chadwick💔
@@vincentj.9057 honestly. That’s what I told everyone when they ask me about the movie 😄
Clothes don't make the man, but still, I like the way he's dressed. Stylish, clean lines, and quality material. The cloth belt is a nice touch. Also, the bright white and that shade of green are perfect on him. In a word, classy (expensive, but not ostentatious). Of course, it doesn't hurt that he's tall, well-built, and good-looking.
His whole demeanor and style is nothing but class.
Amen. And I loved watching the Blade movies as a kid. Interesting person ;)
Always great to see a man in something other than a black/blue suit piece.
Agree
ZZ Top would approve.
He has the "It Factor" and that certain "je ne sais quoi." In Moonlight, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. His presence is like Vanessa Redgrave's: Once the actor is in a scene, their presence permeates all the scenes. Their being seems to be built right into the woodwork. Moonlight used actors who all ate through the scenery, but Ali had the most magic.
Definitely the “It Factor”.
spot on. which surprised me to learn that this movie is his first leading role.
He was definitely captivating in Moonlight. I still can’t take my eyes off him!
Not that I can't take my eyes of him but he got presence, qualité supérieure et exquis😘👌🏽
Moonlight is a straight up masterpiece. Well deserved Oscar. Mahershala Ali is the man. Loved him as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage as well.
As someone's who's met and spoken to him on several occasions, I can say that he's honestly just as graceful and kind as he appears to be in interviews and film roles. I can't quite explain it but he has this aura around him. He could be in the most casual outfit with a beanie on, and yet you feel you're in the presence of someone really special. And when he does get all dressed up... whew, I mean look at him. Beautiful person, inside and out.
His voice is so soothing and his smile is just perfect 🥰.
Mahershala is such a brilliant actor and a wonderful guy, I cannot wait to see him as Blade!
I love this guy. From playing Cotton Mouth to Blade in the same cinematic universe is amazing. His performances in Green Book and especially Moonlight are phenomenal. Definitely wanna see a whole lot more of him.
True detective also, so great
It's gonna be weird especially if Mike Colter comes back as Luke Cage 😂😂
Mahershala Ali is becoming one of the greatest male actors love his work!!
I remember him from 'The 4400'.. He was unkown but GREAT in that.. I felt that he would make it really big someday.. He has a quality, voice, looks, build, demeanor, that is 'mesmerizing'. He seems like a very decent guy too. I look forward to what ever he works in.. Like Denzel Washington (I will watch him in any role he plays).. I feel the same about Mahershala..
He's a good, maybe great actor, but Hollywood bs is at play. There's n way he has as.many Oscars as Denzel and De Niro in such short time outside of the fact that he played in two movies promoting homosexuality in the black community which is something Western media is trying to drive up.
This gem of a man turns everything to gold!
He was the best part of Luke Cage and he's gonna kill it as Blade.
Ever since I watched House of Cards I’ve loved Mahershala Ali in everything he’s been in. Cannot wait to see him as Blade!
He absolutely nailed the Cottonmouth character in Luke Cage. You hated him but you kind of rooted for him. The moments when he was just playing piano in his office portrays that inner pain that drives Blade. Quiet but you know that more often than not that's the calm before the storm. I cannot wait! When we watched The Eternals not much of the audience knew that voice. My daughter and I told them all it was Blade and they freaked out!!!!
Can't wait to see him in Blade. Amazing actor, super well spoken....Green Book was an incredible film
Yes, Green Book & the role of the amazing Doc/Don Shirley! Yet another amazing genius who was Afro American, who has been forgotten
When my then-teen son & I watched this profound, deeply emotional, intelligent actor in "Heroes", we both said he's not just going to be a star, he's going to be LEGENDARY 🔥⭐👏👏
he is that kind of actor , you can not take your eyes away from him , when he does his job
Hi guys! We love the show, but our Brazilian second language community has difficulty watching it because its subtitles are totally out of sync with the video and additional words that weren't said in some videos, making it take us a while to figure out what it is being told. Please fix it so that we can really appreciate understanding the entire content accurately. Greetings to the American public and around the world. One of the best shows ever. God bless you all
Thank you for speaking up!
Both of you be new here, I guess?
I first saw him in 4400, and his story was absolutely amazing (got me looking for actual facts about those units in Korean War), but man - his acting was f*cking phenomenal! I lost him off my radar for a while, but damn, he has risen to be one of the best out there. Can't wait to see his take on Blade. Damn!
Also: The original 4400 was incredible!
I agree, I have been paying attention to him since the 4400. He was a standout then and he has continued to shine. I'm so happy to see him show diversity in his roles. He has set foot in almost every genre and has been amazing. And yes, the 4400 was so awesome. Hopefully the reboot will be just as amazing.
Omg yes that was my first introduction to him and one of my all time favorite sci-fi tv shows.
4400 was great. Last season tho was eh. Wish they rebooted it
This man has been a class act for years!
This man is humble very good energy can't wait to see him play Blade
He's been in the superhero universe already, being that he was the best villain in the Netflix Luke Cage series across all seasons.
He's a great choice for the Blade role. I can't wait to see it!
This man could not be more beautiful.
Perfect casting for blade. Mcu kills it with these casting choices
He was so good in True Detective.
Amazing person, extremely talented actor and his fashion sense is impeccable
He is going to kill it! I could think of nobody else for the part
Chillest dude ever
He’ll be a badass Blade with his past sci-fi roles.
His casting as the blade is not recent news, it was announced at comic con 2019, they introduced him on stage.
He seems like the most chilled out nice guy, so happy for him and his success, great actor, he is going to literally kill as Blade.
He's a phenomenal actor, wish him all the best in his career!
Dude might be the only person to get me to watch a marvel movie. I’ll watch anything he does
I like his presence from the house of cards..I knew he will go places..I glad that he is getting more roles...and enjoying being in top of his career
“Yeah I gotta get swole in January.”
Holy shit, they still haven’t started production? lol. What’s the projected release date? I’m a big Blade fan.
Late 2023 for sure
October 2023
He already is looking like Blade!! He is the perfect choice.
They didn’t mention that he’s already in the MCU as Cottonmouth. Also, Swan Song looks exactly like the Anthony Mackie episode of Solos.
That’s because they’re trying to act like Netflix didn’t happen
@@813hyro That certainly WAS true, but now they are on the verge of introducing Netflix Matt Murdock in Spider-man: No Way Home and Netflix Kingpin in Hawkeye.
@@milou66 I hope you’re right but we’ll have to wait and see if they bring ALL of the Netflix stuff into the mcu
Very much déjà vu of Solos. That was the one episode that really stood out for me too.
@@813hyro the Netflix shows aren’t canon to the mcu. They’re just bringing the same actors back, but rebooting the characters
Chris Evans was first Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.
We all associate him with now, however, and love him for his portrayal of Steve Rogers, Captain America.
Mahershala was first Cottonmouth in the Netflix Daredevil series, of course.
May his Blade become what Cap became for Chris.
not the daredevil series, but luke cage if i’m correct
Luke Cage, not Daredevil. But kind of a continuity issue, considering Netflix is connected to the MCU.
I absolutely LOVED the way he said it in that scene!! So hyped!!
He has such a beautiful voice. I’d love to sit in on a book reading by him.
This man exudes sophistication and class. He is a well-spoken person. People can have their say, but I think Mahershala Ali will be worthy to take up the mantle of Blade. I can't wait to see him as Blade!
The band playing Salt Peanuts! is everything.
That is Blade in flesh and blood, no doubt about it! I can't wait!!!
he is lookin quite close to how he looks in the current run of the comics
Man this dude is cool as hell!!!!!
The part of Blade couldn't have been passed on to a more worthy actor. How many actors in the MCU have now played more than one Marvel character? You can add this guy to the list.
How insanely badass was he in Luke Cage as Stokes. He’s gonna kill it as Blade.
I'm excited to see a Blade who is based on pure acting, rather than physicality.
Blade is physical
Which is the problem with these movies. They've have gotten rid of everything cool about these characters when they translate to film. We read comic books because the hero's look and act a certain way. Most of the film costumes suck. The heros are built like Jr high school kids and the scripts are boring.
Care 2 clarify your statement?
I presume you've read a Blade comic
@@christopherhuff3123 I see you've never watched the movies then, nor more a junior high kid. I can assure you, Chris Evans is a physical specimen, as are most of the other guys in the movies.
Blade is not known for his philosophical quest blade is physical and i hope they do him justice and don't do a pg 13 version please make it R rated
I've loved him ever since 'The 4400', i saw him and i knew great things would come for him/to him? not a native speaker. he is just awesome!
Nobody else could do Blade justice. Brilliant actor.
Haraam
Agreed he would be a perfect roll but I got to admit he got some big shoes to fill because if I remember right blade was very loved franchise so I know the pressure is probably on him now
I love that Colbert pronounced his name correctly almost like he practiced 👍
My greatest question about Blade is if he's gonna play him British
hes not british on comics or the actors that play blade in the movies are ali is american.
@@MrJason916 He IS British in the comics, born London's Soho. People just assume he's American because the Wesley Snipes version is what popularised him
Could be his backstory that he's born in London but raised in America. I'm just assuming that since he didn't sound British in Eternals.
@@lombax316 eh I'd be content with that but it would be cool if he was full British, Hersh is good enough to pull off the accent
@@MrJason916 Ooooh Jason, way to show you know nothing about Blade.
Very pleasant and calm personality. I would want to hang out with this dude.
This is what Marvel does tho. They go after Academy actors to play their superheroes. Bri Larson, Robert Downey, Chris Evans, Scar Jo, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, ect. I can go on. Kevin Feige knows what he is doing. At a certain point, no other studios have the money to copy the formula.
Pretty sure Mahershala Ali actually contacted Kevin Feige like I WANT TO BE BLADE and Marvel wasn’t even really considering a new Blade film in the MCU beforehand but positively LEAPT at the opportunity because they’re not stupid. :)
Who are you?
@@ChartreusianInfusion thats not how that works....actors are at the mercy of the studios. No actor can just call a studio and say I want to play "so and so, hire me"....Just like Chadwick with Black Panther, Kevin Feige will give them a call to come in for a audition. He is the boss man. Not the other way around.
@@michaelfernandez7805 I'm Batman
@@novaquinn5323 LOLOK. “Starring Academy Award Winner…” goes a LONG way in terms of clout. He used it and got the job.
Can’t wait to see him play as Blade. I also wanna see Wesley Snipes in a cameo👀
Oh man, that smile 😁🥰
He looks like the young Wesley Snipes back in the day, when I first saw him in Alita he looked exactly like Blade.
Mahershala Ali is a very spontaneous person, and humble, I loved it.
Sooooooo excited for him as Blade! Swang Song seems pretty stellar too! :D
What a great band. What a fun song they played!
LOVED him as Vector
Great Mahershala interview! Swan Song is going to be awesome!!!!
He will own it for sure he has tremendous skill in his craft his dedication is unparalleled to any other! Love you man!
He's gonna do great as Blade.
Mahershala Ali is an incredible actor dude... Cottonmouth in Luke Cage was already awesome, so can't wait for Blade.
I hope Wesley Snipes is in the new Blade movie as a mentor to Mahershala Ali's Blade
God I love his voice and his general vibe
That voice is like butter 💦
That's a lovely gentleman.
Love this guy. Great actor. First show I ever saw him in was the 4400 which I truly believe launched his career, even though he was in Crossing Jordan before that. Then House of Cards. He'll be great in Blade
If you haven't seen," The Green Book" he was absolutely sensational!
I've been a fan of Mahershala since The 4400.. I admire his skills, and his personality off camera. Loved the Blade movie and TV series.. Can't wait to see him. For me he's reached the 'Denzel Washington phase'.. That is I will see him in any role he's been cast in.
Love him in all of his work, he’s got so much depth and even as cottonmouth you feel empathy for him, even like him. I can’t wait to see him in Blade!
Mahershala Ali is perfect for playing Blade. If anybody saw Ali in Alita:Battle Angel, it's like on purpose his character was written, to obviously be Blade.
Will Wesley Snipes be Blade, forever? Yes, no doubt, but we welcome Mr. Ali, to carry on the Blade Legacy. 😃👍
Loved him in true detective too
Amazing actor
I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE HIM PLAY BLADE, he'll be amazing, I'm sure of it.
Mesmerizing colors!
Honestly, I couldn't think of anyone better to pass the torch down to
The Freddie Gibbs of this Hollywood thing!!!
His voice is perfect for Blade...
blade has ALWAYS been hands down my favourite marvel character of all time - so fucking excited that he’s coming to the MCU!
It will definitely be interesting to see how he & vampires, etc fit into the MCU. (If they explain vampires in Eternals even better but I haven't seen it)
Maybe Morbius will be the gateway.
I first noticed him in the tv series 4400. He was such a great ageless husband and dad.
Amazing actor!
Just wanna shout out to the band for that rendition of "Hot Peanuts." Very cool.
Uff, I hope they realy will release it... Has been soooo long.
Someone needs to do a film about how even if someone is cloned, that clone isn't them. It is our experiences that make up us. Without a way to copy over all memories and emotions, a clone is simply a separate person whose DNA is identical to yours.
There was: the 2009 film 'Moon' directed by Duncan Jones. Actor Sam Rockwell played both the lead and his clone in a remarkable performance in what was practically a one-man show
Not to mention, this movie ("Swan Song") was already an episode of Solos (starring Anthony Mackie)
An Oscar winning athlete perfect blade cast and the fact he casted himself I know he’s going to bring something great to the blade character
He alresdy is Legendary for me because altho he hasnt even climaxed in his career yet he is on a Legendary trajectory already. Its not about awards either. This dude is gifted and he makes his audience feel the story. A absolutely incredible actor that i put up there with my other faves of all time. He is brilliant!
I wish they had brought Wesley Snipes as Blade but Mahershala Ali is a great choice for the role. Can't wait for the film to be released!
Ali as Cottonmouth is what made Luke Cage so good.
on god it was
He reminds me a little bit of Louis Gossett Jr., another fine actor.
Alternate universe cameo of Snipes as blade would be golden
Hope they could make him look young or make him look good without CGI.

Blade will always be Wesley snipes! No matter what!!!! But at least there’s new content… I just hope the movie lives up to the original.. but knowing Disney it won’t be… they should reboot it as blades son. That would be better.
