So you can't just use the machine guide pin to cut ? I guess I am missing something. When you say decode it makes me thing there are electronics involved.
I have a question, i took my only key for a 1998 honda crv to a hardware store. They took a blank key and cut it but when i turn it in my ignition lock it gets stuck on the way back to the off position. Iam thinking the hardware key they cut is perhaps too tall and needs to be flattened a little to look more like my 98 key
Hardware stores are buying the cheapest key machines possible, and trying to do work outside their understanding. The ignition lock is sensitive, and needs a precisely cut key. I service a LOT of Hondas, due to their design flaw. Find a good locksmith, and get the key done correctly.
making a key copy is the simplest thing you can do without the need for expensive or sophisticated tools because they do not give a demonstration how to make or cut a key without a pattern or not copy it to copy whatever tool does
Hey MR Locksmith. Oddly this near car came up - my Son has an 1998 Accord EX v6. I saw on that machine theres a date for that car. So what exactly is inside the end of the key? Is it an RFID embedded in the thumb area? And what's it cost to get a dupe made, he only has one and we know what happens when you only have one of something ;) Cheers and Merry Christmas!
It’s a simple transponder key. Any locksmith that does automotive can make and program that key for you. These days I typically clone that key. Saving the step of programming the key to the car. Should cost $60-$100
Where do you buy your mechanical keys from?
@@Enrightauto Numerous suppliers of Mech keys.
I like ilco key blanks.
Pretty cool machine
What model is the Triton?
New model is the Triton Plus. American Key Supply in Las Vegas is a dealer. Ask for Mike :-)
Were are you at , I am in Lynnwood Washington ?

could you have cut the copy without the original key? could you just get the code from the dealer and cut the mechanical key?
I just purchase this machine.
Is it the same process to cut the other side of the key?
Nifty bit of kit
Do you do the keys for anyone?
My poor Honda has been sitting there too long and idk what to do…?

Should have had the key duplicated by a Locksmith.

Merry Xmas thank y
Made by the same company who makes the SEC9 key cutting machine. Also known as the alpha.
Interesting that he hates the SEC9.
