In the year 1333, the Kamakura shogunate government comes crumbling down. A trusted vassal, Ashikaga Takauji, betrays the shogunate and organizes a rebellion. Hojo Tokiyuki, the rightful heir, escapes the massacre with a Shinto priest named Suwa Yorisige to Kamakura. On the run and fighting to stay alive, Tokiyuki sets in motion his plan to reclaim his birthright.

@@zakiahmed6655 Assassination Classroom was more comedic slice-of-life with the occasional action; Elusive Samurai is more an action comedy historical fiction with some dashes of fantasy and an seasoning of horror.
Looks like a solid anime to fill up the void Apothecary Diaries left.
If you are looking to fill the void. I would also recommend Yatagarasu.

Episode 1 had such a crazy tonal shift, but the episode still remained in the same spirit. Such a delightful new series, I'm hoping.
I can’t wait too see how they would react to the villains of the series.

It’s the other way around. The Tri-force in Zelda is based on the Hojo clan crest (which really existed in history)

Okay first episode - animation went faceless a couple times which was odd but after the first 13mins or so the starts to get decent

I've been curious about this one because I really liked Assassination Classroom but unfortunately, on the surface at least, just really didn't appeal to me. I mean, samurai and historical drama? And people say isekai is oversaturated in anime. Hopefully it gets weird, like as in *weird*. Yusei Matsui does weird so well anything less feels like kind of a waste (also see Neuro: Supernatural Detective).
I can answer your question to how weird this series can be with 3 simple words: horses are awesome.(look it up with the title of the series)
Isekai & samurai historical drama are both oversaturated af but atleast the latter is cause of the creators cultural orgins😭
@@chrisgooden4684 yeah well some people don’t feel like watching an incomplete, filler filled adaptation(OG Ruroni Kenshin), or it’s mediocrely animated reboot. Or tracking down super obscure series that never got full adaptations.

I refuse to believe men from back then were so feminine it was impossible to differentiate between male and female....
That 'man' looks more like a young child. If you've ever seen one of those, it can be pretty hard to tell if you're looking at boy or a girl. That coupled with the old timey clothing and long hair would make it very hard to tell unless you're familar with clothing styles of this period.
Also, I'm not sure if this is true in Japan, but I know that in the US many young male characters have female voice actors. That could be the case here as well.
@@spiritofchaos58 I'm specifically talking about looks, not voices. Also adulthood from back then usually happened anywhere around 13-15, varying in certain places but still within that age group. Young children here in the USA are pretty easy to tell male from female. I guess it is true that it would be difficult for me, as an American, to tell male from female in places of Asia though. But even considering their clothing as a factor, I just don't see this happening.
