They should add signal repeater to observation drone in order to reduce signal loss at the very end of attack stage.
It's more often due to terrain as they go low to attack, or electronic warfare systems which disrupt signal. Not as often to do with range. They aren't stupid, if it was simply range, they would have implemented something a random youtuber could come up with.

I know, scary, huh? A heavily armed tank and 5 person crew being taken out and killed by a $200.00 drone and a modified hand grenade? Killing and war done on the cheap. I've read up on WWI and the introduction of the machine gun. A similar situation. Not too many folks know that WWI started out being a war that was going to be fought on horse back, Calvary charges (from ROTC). About the second or third such charge was done by the British (from horse back) in Belgium against the German infantry group that was operating in the vicinity. What the Brits didn't know about the region was that the farmer who had owned and worked his land had been cordoned it off by three strands of barbed wire fence that the Brits were not aware of as the wire was to fine two see, even with their binoculars. So the Brits charged, spurring the horses all way directly into the barbed wire. Cut the horse up really bad and from then on is was going to be trench warfare, given the military thinking at the time, that was the next step to be taken. Which turned out to be a cheaper way of killing the enemy anyway. Horses, feeding and training them was expensive. Warfare seems to turn on expenses. Like with the WWI only about the second day into the "serious" fighting, the Brits and everyone else quickly understood that it was a different sort of war that was going to be fought. Isn't that wat gassing your enemy was about, it was getting too expensive in time and people just shooting at each other from their trenches? Many will disagree, but they might head on down to their local public library or maybe look it up on line... they are reading this on line right now, right?
I think Russia should be banned from the Olympics. It would hit Putin where it hurts most - his ego. I heard today that Britain's sports minister, of whom I'd never heard...has told the Olympic Committee that Britain will not object to Russia's presence = is this true? How sick, if so.

Turning on your radar for about 20 seconds is all these missiles need for lock on recognising radar target. That is so short a time for your systems to start working properly, with highly skilled operators on these systems.
How highly trained are the Russians on radar is anyone’s guess, and actual software to work had it’s critics. Complaints giving out about it during NATO operations Operation Allied Force over Balkans. Now with the ER variant giving extended range.
This could be given actual real time testing, in the Ukraine invasion against Russian technology.
This will be interesting to see how it works, on modified Ukrainian aircraft until F-16 arrives.

russia didn’t “take” another two towns today. But even if they did, they are moving at a snail’s pace - it would take them 60-100 years to reach Kiev at this pace, and by then putin will have died and NATO will have grown tired of this silly war and forced russia completely out of Ukraine.

No - these fpv drones use analog video transmission, which will get "fuzzy" as the signal gets weaker (which normally happens as they get closer to the ground, and trees or other objects start to block the signal).

Ukraine gained 297 km2 in its “failed” summer offensive last year. Since then, russia has only gained 275 km2. So, what’s up with that? 😊
