The kids look mixed race/his biological children. Half of what he is and half of what there Mom is. I can be wrong but my guess is they aren't adopted.

I also want to point out that mixed race children can come out looking more like one parent, the other parent or both (or neither, genes can skip a generation.. etc). But in my opinion the more polite way of approaching the question is asking "what is your children's ethnicity?" Because if someone asked you if your biological children were adopted that can be insensitive.
