what is the true story regarding losing muscle mass on these drugs? i am readiing about "ozempic face" and losing face to be saggy and losing muscle mass so that yes you lose weight on the scale, but compositionally you are worse off which then reduces your metabolism. i read that they only looked at WEIGHT not fat loss. I'm starting to be afraid of this stuff. I have been on ozempic and now mounjaro and i don't want to ruin my body.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes
It took me three weeks to get the medication, do the back locks and it sat in my fridge for one week while I debated taking it because I was already getting my numbers down on my own after making a few minor adjustments to my diet and I was doing well but my doctor insisted that I take it because I wasn’t gonna be able to control a random spikes. Regrettably on July 1
I took my first .25 dose. The absolute worst mistake of my life within an hour. I ended up in the emergency room. The ER doctors were wonderful and they shared with me there discussed on the hype over this medication and I’m not even on it for weight loss, but strictly for diabetes and they’ve seen many people sick on this medication. I had a severe allergic reaction to it. I’m so angry that I went against my gut feeling and took it when I came home, I grabbed all the medication in my fridge and threw it in the trash. I sent a message to my doctor to let her know that I ended up in the ER and I was going to do this on my own without medication. I simply cannot imagine people taking this drug for weight loss. I understand that they are desperate to lose weight, but the long-term effects per the ER doctors are scary. I’m equally upset with pharmaceutical companies that push the stuff and mislead people. I’m still sick and I can’t eat anything which has become detrimental as I’m diabetic. My stomach hurts and I just feel overall horrible and there’s no way to flush this out of your system faster the ER doctor said I will probably not feel great for another month but there’s no such thing as flushing Ozempic out of your system. Never again will I go against my gut feeling. My neighbors daughter used it to lose weight after having a baby I couldn’t even believe it but now she can’t get the medication because her insurance company will only cover it with a diagnosis of diabetes and it’s very expensive without insurance, and she is already going back to her old ways of gaining weight and then some. Ozempic is just a crutch. Once you get off of it, the doctor is right away it will come back, unless you make strict modifications in your life and stick to them. Sadly, many people have a fast food mentality. They want to lose weight fast that they gained steadily over the years and years of bad eating habits. Doing it with this medication is definitely a roll of the dice with your life.
The best thing I did with all of the Ozempic I had was throw it in the trash and never look back. I wish everyone well but please please be very careful just because it may appear to be working now. Doesn’t mean it will long-term this drug is very unpredictable per the ER doctors

I took Ozempic from October 2022 until the beginning of March 2023 when I finally figured out what was happening. It changed me. I was overly anxious and fearful of literally everything every single day. My nurse brother actually noticed my weird personality changes on the phone and he alerted me that I was freaking out about minor problems and told me whatever I was on to get off of it! We discussed all of my unusual symptoms like weird taste every and phlegm in back of my throat every morning and muscle loss on face and other strange areas like my forearms and wrists and we concluded only after a gastro and a primary physician appointment that Ozempic was indeed the problem. Yes, I had some weight loss and I was not hungry whatsoever and
that was so nice.. but make NO MISTAKE! Ozempic has very bad side effects for some people and I am one of them. I went to the ER twice while on Ozempic and they did multiple scans and a nasty swallow test. I developed horrible gastritis and severe Gerd. It had my digestive system slowed down to a crawl. My hair was coming out in handfuls every time I showered, and I mean every time, the brush was full of hair!! This went on until about a week ago until I noticed it has slowed down some. Ozempic stays in your system like 4 weeks after you stop taking it. Needless to say, I cannot tolerate Ozempic 😢

Bobette, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve experienced these awful side effects while taking OZEMPIC. I also had the same experience plus severe bloating, tummy pain, constipation, nausea and dizziness… I’ve lost a lot of hair and hope that now that I’m off the drug that my hair will start to grow back. It’s still falling out but much less. I was on Ozempic for about 18 months. My endocrinologist reassured me that it wasn’t Ozempic causing the hair loss and all the other symptoms (that you mentioned)… she said that only nausea and some constipation was noted as main side effects. I stay on the drug and got worst and not losing any major weight. Thankful that my physician finally listened to me and I won’t ever be taking Ozempic again or any drug that is similar to it. Wishing you a full recovery from this drug and hope that by this time next year, your hair is healthy, thick and long again. Best wishes to you. Much love from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 🤗

Some people maybe, but NO , I don’t think so. Taking a pill or shot is a easy way to loose the weight but eventually a lot of people will gain it back, and realize they wasted a lot of money an probably did damage to their bodies that has not been detected yet. I will be curious in a year or three to hear the long term studies on this new loose weight quick plan. I also pair some fats with my fruit either nuts peanut butter or cheese this also help reduce insulin spikes - I’m walking every day, drinking 90-100 ounces of water and strength train 2-3 days per week. I have significantly reduced my AIC and other concerning blood results - sadly we live in a culture where everyone wants a quick fix - sustaining weight loss and good health require long term behavioural change - it has taken me a very long time to truly appreciate this - good luck and health everyone

I work in a Pharmacy and we have to remember that Ozempic was made for Diabetes and one of the side effects was weight loss. That's why they come out with Wegovy that is the same medication but now out there for weight loss. Dr. should be prescribing it accordingly. This would have prevented the shortage on the Ozempic when Doctors were giving it for weight loss because Wegovy was not covered. Those who needed it could not get it because someone needed to loose 10 pounds. That's is sad and many Pharmacy's and Insurances have to track it's use. .
That being said...thanks for the information. Both medications are good tools, but a good reminder that out diet is very important to help get to where you need to be to be healthy. That's the goal with ether medications.

When i started i knew i had to change everything. I do 30 min. Cardio altetnating rowing and stationary bike at 80 to 90% 5 times a week and resistance and weight training. I make protein a priority, i cut out processed foods and sugar. I eat only fresh or frozen fruit like blueberries and veggies. But it sounds like if i stop the med its inevitable to gain weight. I am a diabetic. It’s really difficult for people with diabetes to get any of these medications because there are so many people taking it for weigh loss. It has made prices go up to $181.00 a month. For the past 3 years I paid $25.00 per month. It has also caused medication shortages. So I have to take a very high dose of metformin in the morning & night. It causes headaches, stomach pain, esophagus pain, weakness, my diabetic neuropathy is much worse……etc. I don’t understand why or how people are getting prescribed medication that is intended for diabetes. So people like me who really need these medications for a Better quality of life. So that we don’t experience blood sugars that go high or low so quickly that it makes you very sick very quickly. The headache start’s, then the body aches, nausea and vomiting. Once your vomiting how can you swallow a pill and keep it down? You don’t you are sick until you are able to keep fluids down and hope that you can keep your metformin down. That’s why the shots are so important. If I have a a injectable I can control my blood sugar and not get sick.

TLDR: Specific diet and lifestyle strategies, including resistance training, proper nutrition, and monitoring body composition, are crucial for preventing muscle loss and weight regain when stopping weight loss drugs like Ozempic.
00:00 💡 Weight loss drugs like ozempic can cause muscle mass loss and rebound weight regain, but specific diet and lifestyle strategies can minimize these effects.
03:10 📉 Ozempic improves metabolic rate and insulin sensitivity, preventing weight regain, but stopping it can lead to muscle loss and fat gain, lowering metabolic rate, which can be prevented through resistance training and proper diet and exercise.
05:51 💡 Focus on building muscle and improving body composition through resistance training to prevent weight regain when stopping Ozempic, using dexa scans and bio impedance scales to monitor progress.
09:03 📌 Maintaining muscle and focusing on gut health through diet and microbiome rehab is crucial for preventing weight regain after stopping Ozempic, with a focus on consuming lean, healthy protein sources to meet daily protein intake.
11:06 👍 Focus on adding protein to meals, track intake with Carbon app, and balance macros for stable blood sugar; feed gut microbiome with diverse fibers and colors for weight management and overall health.
13:20 🥦 Eat 5 servings of veggies, 2 servings of fruit, healthy fats, protein, and diverse foods within a 10-12 hour window to prevent weight regain after stopping Ozempic.
15:57 💧 Staying hydrated, consuming protein, greens, and fiber, and taking supplements like multivitamins and creatine can help prevent weight regain and muscle loss when stopping Ozempic.
19:20 💡 Consider using Mito pure, berberine, and apple cider vinegar to maintain results when coming off Ozempic, and track macros and body composition for improvement.

You have some wonderful information in your video - but please be very careful about citing studies. One study performed does not create an actionable fact. And when you described that 2/3 rds regain the weight - that's only partially correct. I was part of the study. The facts are patients in several studies were put on semaglutide for 68 weeks. That is the recommended cycle for weight loss. Two years out for those after the 68 weeks still maintained their weight loss, and retained their blood pressure, glucose and cardiac protections. Overall, with retained lifestyle and dietary improvements used with the drug they maintained the 14% weight loss. The second group were dosed for 20 weeks. This group upon stopping the drug at 20 weeks instead of the recommended 68 weeks regained approximately 7% of the weight back. To gain be if its intended - patients must commit to 68 weeks. The control group that were given dietary and lifestyle changes exactly line the drug participants lost less than 2% over 68 weeks - I need to mention that.
There are also strict dosing guidelines that if are not followed create havoc on your system. The drug is administered different doses according to what each patient and doctor decide. The dietary changes and exercise must also be implemented. You can't just take this drug and not eat correctly. No protein means massive muscle loss. It's not intended to make you stop eating. It's not a magic pill. It comes with risks - as all medications do. Reading some of these comments is so discouraging. This drug is very necessary and has been used for quite awhile for diabetics. It's implementation for weight loss and pre diabetics is a real chance to not have to resort to super harmful restrictive diets, weight loss surgeries, etc.
If you have any questions - please ask me. I am a medical professional and have been in the studies so many are misquiting. Even doctors are spreading misinformation about the studies. I have heard on three videos today “the weight comes back when you stop the drug.” That's only partially correct. It reminds me of the falsified “facts” doctors spread about HRT just ten years ago. Everyone needs to make their own choices but be informed fully. Please read the full study published in the AMA.

It's only been since June 2021 that FDA approved this for weight loss. It was already approved long ago for diabetes so there's mot data on that than for weight loss as the primary goal. No medication is safe for everyone, there are always side-effects. Some people have problems and others won't.

I take a lot of nutritional supplements daily and I am about to start Ozempic. I am wodering how my body will absorb these supplements if food stays in your stomach so long. Will Ozempic interfere with the absorbtion?

If you have a surgery coming up ... then do NOT take Ozempic ... Dr. Berry has a video about how Ozempic can be very dangerous if you are about to have a surgery.

Ok, I can't even finish this video because i feel it starts with unproven estatements. Firstly, unless you have data that proves that Ozempic or Wegovy or whatever directly affects and breaks down muscle mass, the severe ratio is totally attributable to rapid weightloss. Lose too much too soon, and that's what happens. Skinny fat. Anyone with some basic fitness knwoledge knows that. Get something like a Renpho scale that measures all these things and keep an eye on values. If you're losing too fast, perhaps "overfeed" one day of the week to compensate calories and lose a little slower. Make sure they are good calories, not trash. Make sure you eat a gram of protein per pound of weight and so some resistance training. Then measure your levels of body protein, water and muscle mass on the scale and adjust accordingly. For some people, this medication is the difference between happiness and misery. Don't be put off.

I needed it for medical purposes. Now my insurance is refusing to pay for it. I was told because so many are getting it just for weight loss alone.

I'm only taking this medication to help me restructure my mindset regarding health and eating. I only need to lose about 15 lbs to get back to a healthy weight. After that, I'll get off the drug and maintain my health with more discipline regarding diet and exercise. When I've gain too much weight, everything hurts, I pull muscles easier, simple exercise gets much more difficult and joints hurt. When I'm at a good weight, all of that goes away and I do so much better. So for me, experiencing all that pain and difficulty is a strong motivation whereas before, I just wanted to look good.

Took Mounjaro for diabetes. Did not decrease appetite nor did it make me lose any real weight. Lost 8 lbs in 4 months but my A1C is better. Not worth the cost of my copay with my insurance.

I can will myself to lose 50 lbs, but every time I do, I l put on more than I lost. I found out recently i have low testosterone. My question is, even though I lose weight while lifting, could I still be losing muscle because of the low T? I think this is why I gain more back because I have less muscle every time I lose weight.

RHETORICAL QUESTION: You stop any sensible eating & fitness plan, what happens? You will gain some or all of it back. It's been happening for centuries. People! Keep taking your Semaglutide and Tirzepatide, or whatever new medication to keep you healthy science has created for you. Hey, JJ, instead of bashing it, why don't you become an advocate of it?

Weight lifting can help you gain muscle and increase metabolism. Most likely metabolism had decreases because the less you eat over time will mess it up
