- This is a short home video I shot back in April of 2002 featuring a group of friends shopping at Toys R Us in Brookfield, WI during the Star Wars Midnight Madness II event. This was right before Star Wars Episode 2 was released.
Thank you for uploading this! I’ve been looking for videos of Midnight Madness 2002 for awhile.
God I miss the early 2000s so damn much.... It was just so much better back then... 2002 to 2006 were some of the best times of my life ❤️💯
Oh, absolutely! And if we’re rewinding even further, nothing beats the 1980s. Believe me. That decade had a vibe like no other-Atari 2600, NES, punk rock, skateboarding to school, no cell phones! I saw The Empire Strikes Back in the theater at the mall! Totally rad! Plus, 1987 was extra special for me-that’s the year I met my wife. Talk about unforgettable times! And yes, if I had a time machine, I would go back there in a heart beat!
I think this is the first ever video of Midnight Madness from Ep II in the history of RUclips! Thank you so much!!!
Back when Star Wars toys were worth buying. Good times.
The wildest thing about this is that it was probably filmed on a camcorder. No cell phones in sight. When the lights in the parking lots are out, our natural inclination 22 years later would be to pull out our phones and use the flashlight. These people didn't have that. They couldn't just whip out their phones and Google something, or record video, or use the flashlight. That one dude had a list of action figures that he had to print from a computer. A simpler world, just people living in the moment.
And now a new toyline coming out is like Jeopardy. Everyone hovering over that button and pressing it as quickly as they can in the hope they can secure a product produced in maybe only a fraction of the amount to meet demand. And then it comes and the eye paint is missing and it has two left hands. Thanks Hasbro…
Thank you to all who purchased these, kept them mint in box, thinking they would be worth a fortune some day, only to realize 20 years later everybody else is doing the same thing and now mint in box toys from the prequels sell for less than the original price. 🤣
I saw this coming a mile away in 1999 when the nationwide lineups happened.
I still waited until after the movie came out then buy the figures. However, I did buy the four Sneak Preview figures at TRU one day several months before the release.
That 2002 Triple H denim jacket tho!!💯😂😂❤️
Seeing Wisconsinites go crazy over the prequels reminds me of those "hack fraud" internet critics who drink too much.
I worked at this Toys R Us for a time
3:45 “Best Action Figure Right There.”
What is the figure? I’ve been trying to figure it out haha. I’m thinking it’s Padmé? 😂
2:19 lmao dude has the Triple H outfit on fleek
Lmao
Peak 2002💯😂
You can tell from our accents that we're all from Wisconsin. Lol
I can't understand those weird accents - what country is this?
I wish I knew their opinions of the sequels.
Did dude's wife ever find out about these action figures or did he really blend them in with ease?
I blended them in with ease! :)
This is probably useless information but doing the math $135 in 2002 with inflation overtime in 2024 that would’ve been $234.38.
By the time E2 came out I had already dialed it down in regard to buying more action figures. Way too much product to consume.
Yup, asnd the figures now mint in box are the same price or lower than was originally purchased at, givin inflation, that is quite a loss.
Many purchased these thinking they would cost thousands later on. 😂
they prob will eventually, the prequels are aging like fine wine with the modern fanbase
“You kno’ jar jar is the key.. you know kno’ to all of it… it’s like… yukno’ .. poetry..”
Fun times, half way good movie and toys no body wants. I have like 5 boxes of figures, basically worthless.
Love the movie , but Episode 2 was the worst Star Wars figure line ever. Pose specific crap looking figures with dumb action gimmicks. Most of them can be thrown away. They are even worse than the 1995 POTF2
I have the most nostalgia for seeing Episode I toys and Shadows of the Empire because of the N64 game, and that Expanded Universe line which had characters like Jedi Leia and Mara Jade.
Fitting…. Episode 2 is the worst Star Wars movie ever.
Guess you've never seen a J.J. Abrams film.
