Here's some notable Servants that work with both of Nursery's traits: *Beni, Bunyan, Voyager, Sitonai, and obviously herself.* There's obviously even more that have just one of those, but these are the best case scenarios. But God damn... Pretty sure that this has been the overall best year of Anniversary Buffs we've ever had. Almost every Servant felt like they deserved and needed the buffs, and not 1 of the buffs themselves was bad. Lasagna absolutely cooked.
If only Geronimo got the silver caster buff. Seeing what they did with Giles and Red Hare I'm sure they could give him something really good to start getting rid of his horrible skills.

Double Merlin + any Buster crit servant (and bringing in another crit support) might be the most damage possible in 1 turn now. I mean 300% crit damage + 100% buster up (+attack buff) is pretty crazy
Heh, I wanna see the Servant Filter system get another QoL where you can filter Servants by their Alignments. Like for the *"Advance Quest: A Town of Rules"* favouring Evil Alignment Servants. Making UI more user friendly when searching for specific alignments will be a nice change for such niche content. That and being able to filter our Servants based on their hidden attribute affinities. Such as Earth and Heaven attributes. Or simply being able to see the Attributes affinity triangles just like we can for the Class Affinity triangles.
Absolutely , they should have done this wayyy long ago. What's the point of having niche alignment and traits when you don't know what is it you are fighting. Trust me 99% of the playerbase would never bother to look up guide on the internet , it's too much hassle.

I've wanted FGO to let you sort your servant by their traits/anti traits for forever. Heck while they're at it, let us see what traits enemies are by tapping on them. Seriously there's so many traits in this game and ways to take advantage of them, but it's such a hassle to see what lots of them are without going online.
A weird issue with Nursery's buff is that she's *not* actually a Child Servant in first ascension. If you're using her in the book form (or have random ascensions turned on) you just don't get the 20% charge. And people thought that Summer Sith's aesthetics tax was bad.
To be fair, why the fuck would someone use her BOOK ascension...it's literally just a flying book, it looks like an enemy you would be able to even trigger Instant-Death so useless they are.
Does Proto Merlin work the same way in the immortal comp? I now have both Merlin and Lady Avalon (as well as Castoria, and also Morgan although I never used her) and I'd like to try it with both (once I max Proto Merlin)
@@akirayuki6275 merlin works better with buster servants like Morgan. Lady avalon works better with arts servants which opens up more comps. Aside that merlins np buff lasts longer which makes it easier to stack. Lady Avalon has max hp increase instead of heal in her kit which is valued a little higher by most in return for the reduced np buff duration. There are other detailsike merlins np levels increasing the heal and Lady A actually getting more np generation per turn, which h is powerful but a little predatory, but nothing to concern yourself with. Overall I'd say Merlin is more consistent imo, because the heals and np buff stacking make him make up for stray hits and such,Lady A is easier to burst through with arts while having less room for errors.

Also the "argument" works "better" with Castoria when it comes to the immortal comp is a bit redundant. They both have aspects that need to be considered. Lady Avalon has an overcharge effect but on a 6 turn cooldown and her np buffs usually run out before you van staple them. Merlin has no overcharge but np buffs can overlap and Considering you usually run him with Morgan because her np provides overcharge which can be more reliable than the skill, because merlins np per turn buff stacking and crit potential makes np gen much better. So Lady Avalon is not by default better. It depends on who you have. It gets into a different debate if you roll multiple copies of Proto Merlin but if you have to roll multiple copies of a support to outclass another they are hardly superior.

The most-unnecessary buff that I'm the most excited for. Merlin's still one of the premier CQ demolishing supports, and this shores him up even further there. The extra battery even gives him some new applications with specific farming setups (combined with Append 5 on a unit with 5-turn cooldowns) for extra damage push over what a second Vitch would give. Importantly, 30% is a magic number for a ton of multicore setups, where the 30% splash charge gets the first NP out, and access to his own Garden of Avalon at the same time can give out an extra 10% charge as well by wave 3. And it does all that without pushing anyone out of the meta or trivializing anything. A fitting buff for our OG Grand Caster companion.
Damn, the immortal comp just got a massive upgrade through this, extra 50% crits 3 turns is obscene, especially now the safety net got cooldown reduction too.
Never thought they would buff Merlin in a 100 years. Didn't think he needed it. Also for a theme besides casters, they're both servants that love stories.
I would like to see a skadi buff since one of her skill is just 50 np charge and I would like to see additional effects (like NP gain up to help looping) but Merlin is also fine since it indirectly buffs my wife morgan in the immortal team comp. Additional crit dmg to Morgan further helps her damage in boss fights.

Was praying it'd be her but happy with this buff nonetheless. Anyway I've had this idea for her S3 for a little over a year now: imagine if on top of the 50 battery, it drew all of the selected units' cards for 1 turn, guaranteeing a crit chain with them if used on W2 or 3. In addition, it would apply guts as a demerit to one (highest HP) target until the end of the turn to ensure you complete the chain even if killed by the NP. This'd bump her up quite a bit I imagine as it'd enable you to tackle 90++ using an NPQQ chain to refund to full everytime. This may sound broken, but that's why I included that demerit (which in itself aids with the strat lol). Another idea I had was to make Q cards deal splash dmg, kinda like Aoko can with her buster. There're just so many things they can do with her S3
Loved that they buffed Nusery Rhyme and Merlin. I wonder if she got buffed because of the FateExtra game coming out. But Merlin definitely needed to catch up to Lady Avalon, skillwise.

I haven't tried Lady Avalon yet since I don't have the materials and QP to max her yet (and I'm currently farming exp since it's discounted and I'm gonna try getting Rikyuu), but would you say her skills are that much better than Merlin? From what I remember she has pretty long CDs. And I can already tell I'll probably still prefer Merlin NP wise if I were to compare them.

That makes her Overcharge on Charisma better (every other NP from Castoria will get 1 extra hit of Invul), and her version of the Invul combined with her free 20% starting from a passive makes her get her 1st NP faster.
Lady avalon wasn't an upgrade to Merlin, she was a side grade. Proto Merlin works better with castoira and arts teams, where as Merlin was better for TAing because of his card mod being buster instead of arts, also was better for longer fights because of shorter cooldowns and longer lasting NP, proto Merlin was just weaker in everything he was used for, but way better for castoira and arts teams and for insta NPing.
im surprised people think merlin buff is a copium when he has a rate up at the same time as the 5 star caster upgrade lol, and the only other servant who matches having a rate up also got a buff (summer nito)
Gotta say, this anni got a rocky start, but they manage to make it up pretty well. Lots of Quartz from rhe rewards and compensation, Coin Append fixed, a meme that's finally put down, Arcueid and Tonelico's Buffs and Servants buffs batch that consist of either good ones or the ones that needs it and get just the right type of buff

If castoria is best unit in the game.i think merlin is ex+ now. There is no servant that can heals while giving so much streoids like him while having aoe invul. Also 30% aoe battery like sheesh. Double merlin is 100% cdmg and 100% buster for 3 turn. And 1 turn of 300% cdmg if skill 3 was used. And 100% star gen for 3 turn tf

I used to loop with Merlin an a few others for some story bosses, that imvul being on a 7 turn cooldown got me in troubke a few times, so that getting a turn knocked off is very nice. All in all some nice buffs, I'll look forward to them in two years

Sure, let's buff the unit that is still relevant to this day and is in fact core in the immortal team comp, but not the one that got powercreeped into oblivion when castoria released.
Castoria is the core in the immortal team. There are alternatives to merlin. Tamamo is more relevant than ever thanks to the cd append skill. People don't use merlin anymore as lady avalon is just objectively better.

If they give Tamamo a 30% battery or a 20% party wide battery she will actually powercreep Castoria in lotto's, people would be running double Tamamo instead which is actually insanity. I'm certain they're being really cautious on buffing Tamamo because of her very low cooldowns and her NP.
Between Castoria and Girlin, I can see why they buffed Merlin. He's obviously always been good, and is one of the few Servants with the distinction of breaking the game upon release, so he's still plenty strong; but it makes sense they'd want to show the OG some love. Also pretty excited for all the buffs in general. Pretty good suite overall; there's a few I probably would have picked someone else, but of the ones we got, I'm just happy we finally got Iskandar's battery.

Merlin getting a buff is legit really funny lmao. Very solid one too, it combined with hero creation will have servants critting on a potentially higher uptime and even harder. Also very solid buff for Nursery, very happy she got one since she's super cute and i wanna use her more ❤
So that's 600% buster crit damage for Super Orion with his np along with double Merlin plug summer Skadi. And he's feed 110% np charge before giving him a CE.
They buffed Merlin before Koyami :( Also, Merlin-Morgan-Castoria CQ comps are effortless to start up now with mana loading. Can immediately get everyone to NP turn 1 now.
For Merlin, I would say it doesn't change/broaden his use cases. He is still the immortal team player and very little to no uses outside of that. Now, immortal teams will be a little bit faster because of the 50% crit and the 1 turn cool down reduction is always nice but then again, it doesn't change what he used to do, neither it solves anything. He is simply a little bit better than what he used to be. I wish, they have given him a little bit more battery, maybe 30% targetable on his 3rd skill since he had 20% on his first skill. It would have broaden his use cases. Whatever, he is still good, just not in a place where you can use him frequently. And most player's Oberon is getting close to bond 15 if not they are already at bond 15. So, it would have been nice for players who got Merlin in the last few years. With the new coin system, you wouldn't want to use a servant who capped his/her bond level because every slot counts.
His use cases are already broadened lol. 30% AoE charge gives him a lot of situations where he can slot in multicore farming, he can now act as a replacement for Oberon in buster farming for 50% charge Servants, with higher t1-2 damage n exchange for lower w3 damage similar to how LA is used on farming, and his buster crit support is better than even Koyanskaya's even beyond the first turn.

Nursery Rhyme could loop before this buff. 40% from her S3 and 20% from Mana Loading is 60%, freeing up Castoria to use her S1s on turns 2 and 3, meaning she only had to refund 70%, which she could do. Damage was a serious issue, though, and this buff helps with that. A bit of a shame that he 20% charge invalidates the lore I put into her A2, though. Nursery Rhyme is only a Child Servant in her 2nd and 3rd ascensions, so she doesn't get the 20% battery if she's in her 1st ascension, meaning book form just became unusable. It's always a bit frustrating when some ascensions are more viable than others, like we've seen on Summer Baobhan and Alice, but I don't think anyone was a huge fan of the book form. There are only 5 servants who are both Child and Fairy Tail: Beni Enma, Nursery Rhyme herself, Paul Bunyan, Sitonai, and Voyager. There might be some multicore potential with Beni Enma and Sitonai, but the others don't have much synergy.
Imagine thinking a skill that gives the entire party invuln needed a buff over a skill that gives only a defense buff and only to yourself. Baffling choice in my opinion.
I coped hard for illya and sheba but these two make sense too, and also i have them both so in the end i still profit of the buffs lol, i just would've loved being able to use my level 100 queen of sheba again...

Never thought they would buff Merlin in a 100 years. Didn't think he needed it. Also for a theme besides casters, they're both servants that love stories.
I would like to see a skadi buff since one of her skill is just 50 np charge and I would like to see additional effects (like NP gain up to help looping) but Merlin is also fine since it indirectly buffs my wife morgan in the immortal team comp. Additional crit dmg to Morgan further helps her damage in boss fights.

Was praying it'd be her but happy with this buff nonetheless. Anyway I've had this idea for her S3 for a little over a year now: imagine if on top of the 50 battery, it drew all of the selected units' cards for 1 turn, guaranteeing a crit chain with them if used on W2 or 3. In addition, it would apply guts as a demerit to one (highest HP) target until the end of the turn to ensure you complete the chain even if killed by the NP. This'd bump her up quite a bit I imagine as it'd enable you to tackle 90++ using an NPQQ chain to refund to full everytime. This may sound broken, but that's why I included that demerit (which in itself aids with the strat lol). Another idea I had was to make Q cards deal splash dmg, kinda like Aoko can with her buster. There're just so many things they can do with her S3

Loved that they buffed Nusery Rhyme and Merlin. I wonder if she got buffed because of the FateExtra game coming out. But Merlin definitely needed to catch up to Lady Avalon, skillwise.
I mean they had to buff her eventually, she’s been in game since year one? And she’s gotten nothing despite being a frequently used character in stories , both main and events
I haven't tried Lady Avalon yet since I don't have the materials and QP to max her yet (and I'm currently farming exp since it's discounted and I'm gonna try getting Rikyuu), but would you say her skills are that much better than Merlin? From what I remember she has pretty long CDs. And I can already tell I'll probably still prefer Merlin NP wise if I were to compare them.

@@akirayuki6275She's better in Arts teams, who are generally also better with Castoria. That makes her Overcharge on Charisma better (every other NP from Castoria will get 1 extra hit of Invul), and her version of the Invul combined with her free 20% starting from a passive makes her get her 1st NP faster.
Lady avalon wasn't an upgrade to Merlin, she was a side grade. Proto Merlin works better with castoira and arts teams, where as Merlin was better for TAing because of his card mod being buster instead of arts, also was better for longer fights because of shorter cooldowns and longer lasting NP, proto Merlin was just weaker in everything he was used for, but way better for castoira and arts teams and for insta NPing.

im surprised people think merlin buff is a copium when he has a rate up at the same time as the 5 star caster upgrade lol, and the only other servant who matches having a rate up also got a buff (summer nito)
Gotta say, this anni got a rocky start, but they manage to make it up pretty well. Lots of Quartz from rhe rewards and compensation, Coin Append fixed, a meme that's finally put down, Arcueid and Tonelico's Buffs and Servants buffs batch that consist of either good ones or the ones that needs it and get just the right type of buff

The buff for nursery is very good, now she can finally deal some significant damage. And merlin buff is very good, makes him a consistent crit support. Overall most of the Anni buffs have been great.
Imagine his 3rd skill critical buff last 3 turns and is capable of party wide 50℅ NP charge😮😮

One thing I noticed about this batch is it's always a male and a female. And the male Caster 5* and 4* don't give many options. So...
If castoria is best unit in the game.i think merlin is ex+ now. There is no servant that can heals while giving so much streoids like him while having aoe invul. Also 30% aoe battery like sheesh. Double merlin is 100% cdmg and 100% buster for 3 turn. And 1 turn of 300% cdmg if skill 3 was used. And 100% star gen for 3 turn tf
One question : to farm 90++ , you needed oberon ; now with this buff...is merlin as good as oberon for those ?
@@zackfair8407 no unless youre thinking about card farming. But if you think about just normal CQ yes. Merlin is the premium buster support. no one can buff buster damage that much while giving heal and ivul

I used to loop with Merlin an a few others for some story bosses, that imvul being on a 7 turn cooldown got me in troubke a few times, so that getting a turn knocked off is very nice.
All in all some nice buffs, I'll look forward to them in two years

Lady Avalon's invincibility is 6-turn CD so this puts Merlin back on par with her.

Castoria is the core in the immortal team. There are alternatives to merlin.
Tamamo is more relevant than ever thanks to the cd append skill.
People don't use merlin anymore as lady avalon is just objectively better.

@@rust5427 Not at np1 she isn't, that less np regen per turn hurts at np1. They LOWERED Merlin's Invul cd too, my god...
If they give Tamamo a 30% battery or a 20% party wide battery she will actually powercreep Castoria in lotto's, people would be running double Tamamo instead which is actually insanity. I'm certain they're being really cautious on buffing Tamamo because of her very low cooldowns and her NP.
Between Castoria and Girlin, I can see why they buffed Merlin. He's obviously always been good, and is one of the few Servants with the distinction of breaking the game upon release, so he's still plenty strong; but it makes sense they'd want to show the OG some love.
Also pretty excited for all the buffs in general. Pretty good suite overall; there's a few I probably would have picked someone else, but of the ones we got, I'm just happy we finally got Iskandar's battery.

For Merlin, I would say it doesn't change/broaden his use cases. He is still the immortal team player and very little to no uses outside of that. Now, immortal teams will be a little bit faster because of the 50% crit and the 1 turn cool down reduction is always nice but then again, it doesn't change what he used to do, neither it solves anything. He is simply a little bit better than what he used to be.
I wish, they have given him a little bit more battery, maybe 30% targetable on his 3rd skill since he had 20% on his first skill. It would have broaden his use cases. Whatever, he is still good, just not in a place where you can use him frequently. And most player's Oberon is getting close to bond 15 if not they are already at bond 15. So, it would have been nice for players who got Merlin in the last few years.
With the new coin system, you wouldn't want to use a servant who capped his/her bond level because every slot counts.
His use cases are already broadened lol. 30% AoE charge gives him a lot of situations where he can slot in multicore farming, he can now act as a replacement for Oberon in buster farming for 50% charge Servants, with higher t1-2 damage n exchange for lower w3 damage similar to how LA is used on farming, and his buster crit support is better than even Koyanskaya's even beyond the first turn.
@@Founder_of_Morgans_Fanclub true. But again, it's very limited because you would want to save the 100% crit buff for the last turn in case you need the face cards.
Nursery Rhyme could loop before this buff. 40% from her S3 and 20% from Mana Loading is 60%, freeing up Castoria to use her S1s on turns 2 and 3, meaning she only had to refund 70%, which she could do. Damage was a serious issue, though, and this buff helps with that. A bit of a shame that he 20% charge invalidates the lore I put into her A2, though.
Nursery Rhyme is only a Child Servant in her 2nd and 3rd ascensions, so she doesn't get the 20% battery if she's in her 1st ascension, meaning book form just became unusable. It's always a bit frustrating when some ascensions are more viable than others, like we've seen on Summer Baobhan and Alice, but I don't think anyone was a huge fan of the book form.
There are only 5 servants who are both Child and Fairy Tail: Beni Enma, Nursery Rhyme herself, Paul Bunyan, Sitonai, and Voyager. There might be some multicore potential with Beni Enma and Sitonai, but the others don't have much synergy.
Imagine if they decided to buff the invincibility from 1 turn to 3 turn 3 hit

Without this buff, Merlin is already a top caster of a top meta (buster). After this buff, the meta buster will reach a new level, no one will doubt the title "grand caster" anymore !!
So I was correct and Merlin got a really neat buff too.
