Learning to let go - of the past, of hurt, of betrayal, of anything which does not serve my life and direction - was a difficult lesson to learn. The pain, however, is not in letting go. It's in holding on. When I was able to let go I found what remains is the authentic me. This opens up the path to find positivity, better, more. Each time I face and overcome challenges I gain a better understanding of the world around me and, most importantly, of myself. Rabbi, when you spoke about controlling the narrative - so impactful! That is such a critical part of this process. Waking each day in gratitude and knowing I hold the pen, I write the script for each new day on a clean, fresh page has been empowering for me. Though a Christian, I taught in a Jewish temple school for three years and deepened my understanding of the Bible stories I had learned as a child. I knew the stories well, but I did not know their significance in most cases. My life has taken me through some very dark times, but I have never been alone. The stories, Bible passages and hymns I learned as a child, and the knowledge that I was never alone kept me strong. Now I am rather old, and my life is peaceful.
