In this video, Joanne discusses the 4 cycles that make up the methylation pathways; the methionine pathway, folate pathway, transsulfuration (or CBS) pathway, and the biopterin pathway.
Using this diagram, Joanne shows you how the cycles are linked as well as how environmental stressors (stress, diet, toxin exposure, gut issues) impact these pathways.
    Joanne also discusses:
    - The causes of low homocysteine
    - Oxalates
    - Sulfur issues and the importance of sulfation
    - Histamine
    - Glutathione
    - How issues with the folate pathway and methionine pathway impact the biopterin pathway
    - MTHFR gene mutation
    - COMT enzyme

Your videos are so informative. I love all the details. In addition to satisfying my geeky side, the details help instill a sense of confidence in what you were saying. On these topics, there are many medical practitioners making videos who may be well intended but are (sometimes dangerously) under-informed. You are definitely informed! Thanks :)

Thanks so much Kathy for your lovely comment.. We really do need a holistic approach to looking at methylation. You can't just treat snps by throwing methylated nutrients (eg methylfolate for MTHFR mutations) at the problem. I hope my videos relay this message

Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to make a video covering the phenomenon known as Overmethylation in depth.

Where does folate get the methyl group from to turn into methylfolate? From the methyl b12?

I'm confused about folate influencing homocysteine. Am I right to understand that what you're saying is more methylfolate raises your homocysteine levels and less will decrease it?

So, based on what you explained, is it probable to develop oxalates if you have low homocysteine? So,in theory, raising homocysteine eliminates oxalates? Also, too much Vitamin c creates oxalates, which wasn't mentioned and it also inhibits b12 usage. Am i correct?
