I want to see a video on the design process of a 6th order bandpass box with all the different math and measurements that would be involved In the designing of the box
I have watched so many of your videos and I cannot even tell you how much I have learned.... This is like the school I always wanted to attend.. I am 50 and love audio! I am in the midst of my third pretty big (for me) wakeboard boat build out on my new boat. I have always done my own installs from early on in high school. You always learn from mistakes on the way but your videos have taken my woodworking and audio setup, box builds way beyond where I was before now. Thank you so much!!!!!!
When using the threaded inserts or "t nuts" i prefer using a door hinge drill bit. It uses the mounting holes of the sub and ensures you drill the exact center of the mounting holes every time
Love your vids, and, was so impressed that you are doing a HT build. Those spikes are essential for isolating resonance from the sub for low frequencies to the rest of the house. But use rubber for wood floors, or they skip about and can still resonate to the floor boards and really make the room "sing" lol.
More than a stable mount, the carpet spikes are intended to isolate the enclosure from peripheral resonant frequencies, as well as looking wicked sick. Damn fine work man.
Just a small comment about the spikes. Their purpose is not to pierce the carpet, but to minimize the mating surface of the box with the floor. There for less vibration is transmitted from the box to the floor, there for less buzzing.
Bout time you start some HT applications! There are plenty of us that enjoy our bass while we watch movies. It'd be a bonus of some of the sub enclosures actually looked good as well!
I know that you have already done a video series on under the seat boxes. I actually just finished watching it. Might I say what a great turn out. If I'm not mistaken, that was for a chevy back seat. They have a TON of room. Could you do another one for an extended cab ford back seat. I myself am an installer and personally own one. I would I've to see how you go about tackling it. Ford back seats have a very oddly shaped floor. They have a big lip that prevents a lot of space being able to be used. I designed a pretty basic ported box for my own. I would enjoy seeing your perspective. Possibly a box for 4 10s and a center forward port? Thanks for the great videos! I enjoy watching other installers such as myself. We all have a million different tricks and ways of doing things. It's always great to pick up new ideas! Take care! Conner Powell CSP Creations
800 watts in a package that small!! Damn shit has changed in 15 years!!! I was big into car audio in the late 90s through like 03. Then totaled my car and could only afford a single cab truck. So my equipment was packed away and in that time I started drag racing and my money went to my gutted drag car. Our track was shut down and about 3 months ago I found my equipment tucked away in the cedar closet and have been looking around at some audio stuff again. Haven’t seen anything new yet. Back then a 700 watt mono block was roughly 16”, 18” long! That thing isn’t much bigger than an old school early 90s crossover! 😂
I would probably build a T-Line very similar to this if I didn't already have three home subs that I was trying to sell now. Maybe if I get rid of all of those, I could justify a build. :) Nice work, as always, Mark!
4:27 I've found these threaded inserts can be pushed out of MDF if/when using a drill to thread a screw into them from the downforce pushed down onto the drill. Lemme tell you, it's a terrible feeling when it happens!! Makes me wonder if installing them from the top or bottom is better..?
Yep. You apparently haven't seen the old 80's commercials for Krazy Glue. Dude hangs by a hard hat glued to a steel I beam... and the gluing surface is only a couple inches by a couple inches. Cyanoacrylate glue is pretty good stuff. Just try to keep it off your fingers.. that's not any fun.
Fill the inside of the t-line box with the stuffing that is inside of a pillow. Doing this will build up more pressure and for whatever reason makes Better Sound. My dad did that to my mom's Subs. Makes it sound beautiful she has 13 inch ×2 speakers if that makes any difference.
Home enclosure??? I'd drive it with a Crown amp and miniDSP for a crossover. Completely sold on this idea thanks to Zeos Pantera/ZReviews RUclips channel. I almost turned my Rockford Fosgate T1D412 into a home theater sub with this setup, but I couldn't justify the project with four other subwoofers in the house so I sold the sub and a 1500w mono amp and purchased my HAT L3V2 set. so I can go 3way in my car.
I know your video is sponsere but if you are looking sound processing unit you should totally go for miniDSP. Much more intuitive and even greater control :)
I know this is an old video but using magnets seems great but is there rattle once you start playing music? I see this all the time with speaker covers as well.
Nope. The box is built to be extremely solid and the magnets are very strong. Might be more of a problem for novice built enclosures using weak magnets
I’m looking to find someone that’s able to build me a daul 15in subwoofer box for home theater. Are you able to build such a box, get everything cut up and ship out everything for ready to build when I receive it?
4:50 I would like to buy an Audio Control small device that simply is a digital EQ controlled via bluetooth or USB with smartphone app or Windows PC. Don't need time settings, just an inexpensive digital 30 band EQ, if Audio Control can offer such a thing (inexpensive). I own LC7i even though my ride doesn't have a factory amp but I was in need of a LOC with bass restoration.
Yes it is. I've seen plenty. Obviously the 1/8" Plexi at the hardware store isn't gonna cut it tho. What I've seen is that they use 3/4" to 1" thick Plexi for them, and then usually are fastened either with finish quality screws/bolts that will be seen because it's a removable panel they can also use for access, or the rabbet the edges inward, glue and screw the plexy down, and then laminate the upholstery over the fastened portion so the ends & fasteners are not seen.
But I agree, particularly for a transmission line box like this, a plexiglass side where you can see the whole pathway would be sweet, especially if you could paint it inside and then add some LED lighting, maybe that pulses with the music. That'd be crazy!
it a T-line box good for punchy bass? or should i be looking at something else? i was looking at sealed for the "clean accurate" bass but have seen how they can help with the driver bottoming out and damaging the coil area. ???
stonedvideos1 I’ve been building boxes for years and if you’re worried about bottoming our a subwoofer, match the sub with the amp example: 400 watts RMS to 400 watts RMS (keep in mind you should never look for MAX WATTS) a sealed box will always be better for punchy bass such as in rock music, metal, etc. if you listen to Decaf tracks and DJ slow n throw, dj rustacles etc, then a transmission line sub box will do great especially with a larger driver particularly 10 and up but if you have a small driver and want low end out of it then a transmission line box will work great I used some for my 4.5” subs and they hit 35 hz. Sealed also will allow you to use a more powerful amp for your sub say 400 watt rms amp for a 250-400 watt rms sub. A transmission line sub box will have more slip since it takes longer for the air inside to move and match the wave coming from the front of the sub itself. Sealed acts like a spring and will bounce the cone back fast creating great response, hope this helps
I have an audi a3 2007 and I would like to change the steering wheel with a flat bottom steering wheel from the audi. the current steering wheel does not have commands for the radio. if I buy one with commands I can make it work with my car . if you can tell me how or you could make a video. thank you very much.
+shishkabobmiller if it's on the back the wire would have to run through multiple port walls to get to the sub. The spikes space the speaker up off the floor so the wire can run underneath
Why would you stand the sub up like that for a home theater system? Wouldn't the port be pointing almost directly at your face when sitting? Also, unrelated, I made song on fruity loops that sounds almost exactly the same as the one at 3:46.
Would it be possible for you to give me a call I have a question regarding some six by nines that I would like to put in the door they are the Sony 100 RMS each
How can you see my smiling face? If you can it suggests either of two things. First, you are clairvoyant, as am I, but that is so rare I'd have trouble believing it as it seems torun in my family, but not too far away from it. But since I found this this a couple months after it was uploaded to you tube, its possible, in which case we need to talk. Otherwise, it's bullshit and you're just guessing. But that's cool, because your making the effort and what the hell! You might get it right. Anyway, this is where I'm at currently. Strange, but it's where we ended up, right? So where to go from here. I've got two silverflute 6.5 inch drivers. I can buy two more to finish the bottom end, and that might be the best way to go. Or I might buy a subwoofer and build a bottome cab for it, setting up the silver flute/s for mid bass duty. I also have two Peerless 2.5 inch dome midranges which are currently being sold on eBay at $275 + on fleebay. And the tweeters are the matching Peerless domes to the Mids. I would think about the the ribbon type drivers from Madisound to handle the ultra hi range! Or maybe a combination of both. Anyway, a four or five wave Way tower isn't out of the question. Any suppestions?

Great tip! Didn't even know that tool existed

Hey mark how much for a ZV5 12” T-line sub box blueprint for center console in my truck
Can't wait to see the results!! Measurements, excursion etc would be fantastic.
2:55 when you get so caught up in the thrill of owning a router you forget holesaws exist
You can't see it anyway. I just mark the circle, jigsaw and done.
Just a small comment about the spikes. Their purpose is not to pierce the carpet, but to minimize the mating surface of the box with the floor. There for less vibration is transmitted from the box to the floor, there for less buzzing.
+Meir Schwartz it minimizes contact area by pushing through the carpet down to the floor
I like your Dayton audio subwoofer. Very nice sub. I have a 15 for my home theater

Realy very very nice
I love your room !!!!
Thanks! You can see the shop build in this playlist: ruclips.net/video/EzvsNYp1VeI/видео.html
You and Doug need to colab sometime! 😏
shane brock NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR THIS
Add Steve Meade into it as well.
Nobody cares what you did shane!
That would be swell.
What's up Mark speaking of boxes I'm so excited and extremely looking forward to hearing my one off custom made box
nice video m8. spikes serve three functions: stability, isolation and purging. :P

Cool!!
If my boxes looked like that...hahaha
5:32 Nice invitation of Big D Wiz @ Wilson Audio Lab🤣🤣🤣
You should have port end down so the bass can use the floor for loading. Try it for yourself, nearly always sounds nicer in a home audio setting.
I would probably build a T-Line very similar to this if I didn't already have three home subs that I was trying to sell now. Maybe if I get rid of all of those, I could justify a build. :)
Nice work, as always, Mark!
Thanks for watching, get those sold so you can do something new!
Great video! Did you do one to explain how you designed the box?
+kr33p1n yes, check it out here ruclips.net/video/Q2VL_FHu9AY/видео.html
CarAudioFabrication ok great thanks mark!
Great vidios!
Excelente videos amigo sigue así !!!
Hey Mark, do you still use computer software to design subwoofer boxes? If so can you make an updated video of new ways to use the software?
He is wooferio, the god of car audio.
Could I use this sub for my home theater?? Better yet could I built a similar enclosure but with a good quality 12" incher ??
4:27 I've found these threaded inserts can be pushed out of MDF if/when using a drill to thread a screw into them from the downforce pushed down onto the drill. Lemme tell you, it's a terrible feeling when it happens!! Makes me wonder if installing them from the top or bottom is better..?
So that glue is powerful enough to hold on to that slick metal? Even with such strong magnetic power trying to pull them off?

T-line boxes are meant to be filled with long hair wool. Teased out to vary the density along the line. A whole new art.
@@seupertab insane, did not expect a response to this comment😆

Hurry up and finish so you can rub it in Doug's face as the fastest internet box build. Lol
You would think with that CNC he'd be ripping out boxes left and right!
CarAudioFabrication rip it!!
Look at the Fab kitchen throwin shade Lol
You can always use binding posts like actual home audio to connect your wires.
Terminal cup. Ok but run wires through and caulk???? Rly. Use two bolts abs a couple nuts. Or some all thread n a couple nuts.
Where did you get the super thin pen thing for marking out drill holes through the speaker???
I know your video is sponsere but if you are looking sound processing unit you should totally go for miniDSP. Much more intuitive and even greater control :)

So do 1 change face sub down at floor have a port go up the back of the enclosure and sits on top of the other port.
What size drill bit did you use for the inserts and what size inserts did you use?
I’m looking to find someone that’s able to build me a daul 15in subwoofer box for home theater. Are you able to build such a box, get everything cut up and ship out everything for ready to build when I receive it?

Hey C.A.F kinda new to the scene lovin the page. Quick question - Plexiglass box possible? I think it would be cool to have a see though box

How much would you charge to build 2 Vertical Floor Standing Home Speaker boxes with 12” Drivers a 5” Mid and a Horn Tweeter?
Have you found someone to build your boxes
it a T-line box good for punchy bass? or should i be looking at something else? i was looking at sealed for the "clean accurate" bass but have seen how they can help with the driver bottoming out and damaging the coil area. ???

T.line only for super low bass..
The best solution for SQ..you need 1 sealed box and 1 t.line
MegaTUHAU. You'd be better off building a band pass t line
I’ve used those threaded wood inserts and they should be installed to the outside of the baffle as they are right hand thread not the inside.
Mark, is that amplifier a non-epicenter monoblock?
+DaWalkDude correct, no Epicenter but still has bass roll off correction (accubass) high level inputs, crossover etc
I have an audi a3 2007 and I would like to change the steering wheel with a flat bottom steering wheel from the audi. the current steering wheel does not have commands for the radio. if I buy one with commands I can make it work with my car . if you can tell me how or you could make a video. thank you very much.
I thought a few videos back you said to avoid terminal cups like the plague?
It's much better to avoid them, but some are still of ok quality, and are fine for things like home theater where quick disconnect is desired.
why wouldn't the terminal cup be located on the back of the enclosure instead of the end? Especially since you plan to stand it up.
+shishkabobmiller if it's on the back the wire would have to run through multiple port walls to get to the sub. The spikes space the speaker up off the floor so the wire can run underneath
I was thinking the wide side face myself, honestly. I completely forgot about the floor spike spacing tho.
Touché.

Also, unrelated, I made song on fruity loops that sounds almost exactly the same as the one at 3:46.
