Yesterday morning, I strolled down to Little Island from Hudson Yard. When I reached the bottom of the hill, my heart leapt.
Wow, the concept and the base structure of Little Island are so Artistic!!
The park is built on top of giant tulip-shaped concrete containers seemingly growing out from the deep, dark, mysterious muddy Hudson River.
Imagine we humans are just like little bees roaming around inside of giant tulips! What a Fun Concept!
The breeze from the Hudson River is a precious blessing on a hot summer day. The view of the lively Hudson River and beyond ( including our neighboring state, New Jersey) are wide open and uplifting.
I happened to run into the company team that implementing this project. So glad that I found out where the rocks come from. The beautiful rocks of Little Island came from upstate New York, north of Buffalo.
The most interesting way to EXPERIENCE Little Island is to put it into the entire surrounding neighborhoods, such as Whiteney Museum, Chelsea Piers, Chelsea galleries, Meatpacking District, Highline and Hudson Yard.
So many interesting and beautiful people concentrates around there. Personally, I enjoy watching beautiful and unique people. I will go back to Little Island again and again for many years to come.
Jon, it looks like Teletubby Land, if you are familiar with the late 90s English kiddy programme, fully expecting Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La La and Po to appear

I saw this in the NYT a few days ago and it looks amazing. It will, unfortunately, by populated by Instagram influencers having no idea how to actually live in the moment without documenting every posed second of their lives but easy enough to ignore those vapid, inane creatures. Good to see your chill tour and friends, can’t wait to experience it for myself.

Vessel is closed nowadays because of many suicide there.... They are renovating for protection.

@@maril1379 "Plans arose in November 2014 for a new park, known as Pier 55, designed by Heatherwick Studio and largely funded by Barry Diller and Diane von Fürstenberg, with some funding from the New York City and state governments. Originally, construction was to begin in 2015 and the park would have been completed in 2018 or 2019. However, the park's construction was delayed by lawsuits from the City Club of New York. Plans for the pier were scrapped in September 2017 due to lawsuits and cost overruns.
On October 25, 2017, New York governor Andrew Cuomo arranged an agreement in which Pier 55 would be completed. Cuomo agreed to complete the remaining 30 percent of the incomplete Hudson River Park, provided that he won the 2018 New York gubernatorial election. Cuomo also promised the ecology of the Hudson River estuary would not be adversely affected by the construction of Pier 55. In exchange, the City Club's lawyers dropped their lawsuits against Pier 55.
Cuomo provided $50 million for the park in April 2018, but with the condition that the city raise a matching amount. Construction of the structure began the same month, with the construction of walkways from the Hudson River Park esplanade to the future park site. The city should use the park to make "lesson plans" for school children. Websites and handouts that list the wildlife, plants, and ecosystem of the island.
As more people homeschool. A 'field trip' with a lesson plan and maybe a scavenger hunt... to learn about things like butterflies, and urban renewal would be a good module. Heck...some teacher could create one on their own post for free or low cost ' it online.
Sounds like a great idea.

I went there today and it was impressive. I go to the piers because I enjoy the view but this place put the piers to shame. Very nice, even the bathrooms were creative.
