Great aggressive sound of that Melin V12 !
c.morees Those PACKARD built in America had their own sound....because they were different !!!
Supercharged too, with obligatory intercoolers
That sound never gets old.
Never, Ever, will get old. Just a magnificent airplane. Cheers!
The sound of victory.
It’s Unmistakable. Cheers!
I'll tell you what it is: it's a 1600 h.p. hot rod that really flies
I wish I could afford to have at least one of these gorgeous old warbirds. I would fly this thing ALL THE TIME!
X2, i want to fly these, thats my dream
I remember seeing these for sale in the classified section back of aviation magazines in the 1980s for under 200k. Then through the 90's over 200k went up from there. I don't know what condition those were in. I do remember in the early 2000's seeing Mustangs selling for less than 1 million. I think it was more of a practicality of the aircraft kept cost lower back then a new Cessna 210 could cost you more. Like all aviation the cost to keep them flying is where the real cost is. I do remember talking to a fella who landed a P-51 at an airshow I was at in the early 1980's older guy and his wife climbed out of the thing. He said he flew them in Germany and was a retired airline pilot he bought is in the early 1970's can imagine what he paid for it.
@@Mike-01234 yea, at this time it is pretty hard to find one in working/good condition for under a mil. Well last time I actually took the time to look. With today’s garbage economy, cannot justify even looking these up at the moment lol
That Merlin sound is absolutely ethereal wow 😮
Christopher those PACKARD Merlin do have their own sound !!!!
There's Spitfire pretty, there's the Me109 that couldnt look more German if it tried, and then theres Mustang Win The Air War And Look Damn Good Doing It.
What.
A.
Sound.
It has to be the most beautiful and bad ass airplane ever created. What a record, on top of shooting down ME 262's.
Mustang credited with destroying 120 Me262's !!!
I think somewhere in California you can pay for a flight in one of these beautiful birds
P-51 Mustang The Cady of the Sky!!!
What a gorgeous mustang!
She sure is Shiny! Cheers!
The size of that propeller is awesome.
n.v.1258 Yes and notice the width of the blades, paddle props = high thrust !!
OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH That PACKARD Merlin does sing its song ....FREEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM !!!!!!
Maj.Don Gentile's P51 mustang the Shangrila was a sharp fighter plane. They gave him the nick name One man airforce during WWII.
that startup sent a chill down my spine. Don't get that from the F-35 or F22.
Both ICE and Jet sound amazing in their own way. To me Jet sounds more powerful
I don't get that with my Sky Hawk either.
This one is at my local airprot now, KSRQ.
The Marlins are dad ass and such a beautiful staccato great voice.
Beautiful bird
So classic!
I was able to track you over my property in Ea Knox County. One day at an air show I hope to actually see “Ain’t Misbehavin’ “. I’m closest to Sevierville.
Hello Patrica. If you are close to Sevierville, TN, Then check out the Tennessee Museum of Aviation at the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport - (GKT) on October 27-29, 2020. The B-17 Yankee Lady will be there selling rides. The museum is full of warbirds and the P-51 Mustang Ain't Misbehavin' has been know to show up for events at the museum. Cheers!
Such a hard core piece of aviation racing power in an agile fighter plane from WWII terrorizing Nazi Germany is this modern-day Reno air race plane a true American Military Legendary Plane sought after by a lot of Americans
What’s the scoop hanging under the plane used for? Beautiful old girl by the way!
The unmistakable scoop on the underside of the P-51 Mustang is the air inlet for the coolant radiator and oil cooler. Cheers!
doug8525 That is the housing, aerodynamic in the correct spot for the engine coolant radiator, the engine oil cooler and the intercooler radiator !!!! To keep things cool !!! DUUUUUHH!!!!!
I think the Mustang was the best all round allied fighter, range, firepower, manoeuvrability and just damned beautiful. Designed by a German gentleman Edgar Schmued.
Edgar was a American citizen of German descent, but he did not engineer the Mustang, aeronatical engineers Dutch Kindelberger and Lee Atwood did, Edgar drew up the plans he was NOT and engineer !!! Facts of history not hype or lies !!
👊🫡✌️
Just listen to that Merlin purr 👍
6548ww PACKARD version....and used ONLY in the Mustangs !!!!
Look at the acceleration that thing has
Beautiful plane
First thing, THANK YOU. That gave me chill's.
Thanks Neil! Glad you enjoyed the video. That Mustang is a beauty to see and hear. Cheers!
Germany didn’t have much fuel and used 87 while the allies rich in oil used 150 octanes. They keep you ignorant
They Who? Keep us ignorant of What? The fuels used in WWII are well know to be different. Here is more information on aviation fuel to help you better understand the differences. Cheers!
airfactsjournal.com/2022/04/a-history-of-aviation-gasoline/
garyseesNOTHING most av gas used was 100/125 little 150 used as it was too hard on the engines/ sparkplugs, fouling !!!! DUUUUUHHH!!!!!!!
Just beautiful 😎😎😎😎
Beautiful bird
Few aircraft look and sound as good as this beautifully restored and maintained P-51 Mustang. Cheers!
Ain’t nothin prettier
Spectacular Stang!
Wow!!!!
Why do old war birds take a little bit to start up?
mattblackavaiation They crank the engine over so many props to get the engine oil up to pressure so when they hit the ignition and it starts the engine has oil to all parts !!! DUUUUUHH!!!!!!
Everyone takes a bit of time to get going in the morning after they start pushing 90.
Sweet P51 music to my ears
Agreed! Such an unmistakable, iconic sound. I could listen to it all day. Cheers!

I think the Mustang was the best all round allied fighter of WW2. Range, firepower, maneuverability, reliability and just so damned beautiful. Designed by a German gentleman, Edgar Schmued.
