The tone seems tragic, solemn...and shows redemption & rebirth. Her past & present: Suffering. Is this who she is or is she someone else(else's expectations for her?). Forced into the positions bestowed before her thanks to the war and her superiors. Seeing constant suffering and death. Unable to save everyone. And even yet...still tries saving as many as she can. ...in the end when all hope seems to be lost...her resolve strengthens once more....to save those whom cannot be saved. Her will, one of the most precious, purest, and innocent amongst the sinners of this apocalyptic world.
It's much sadden that she blamed herself for not able to save commandant, but still trying to defeat the twin even though she was in grave danger and badly wounded. Not only that, we as 3rd view was like our soul when our "body" went into coma. We're like begging ourselves to woke up and save them, we're telling commandant to woke up. And in Her Last Bow chapter, it was much sadder because Nanami sacrificed her part of life to find our good ending. Most of the construct try their best to keep us alive, and even willingly to sacrifice for us. I don't want that, I want to save them. I want them to stay till we get back our earth and enjoyed their childhood.
