2 teens killed, 2 others in critical condition after I-40 crash

A Charlotte high school is mourning the loss of a 16-year-old who died in a crash on Saturday near Asheville.
Sophia Gordan, 16, was one of two people who died in the crash, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The crash happened on I-40 in Buncombe County near exit 53 around 11:30 p.m.
The driver of a 2015 Volvo was traveling too fast on the off-ramp and lost control before hitting a tree on the side of the road.
Six people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Gordan and Robert Fox, 19, from Wilmette, Illinois died in the crash. Two of the other occupants, Isabella Tarantelli, 18, and Aby Robinson, 17, were left in critical condition from the crash. The driver of the vehicle and another passenger suffered minor injuries. #Traffic #News

I wasn’t aware of how dangerous it is to have teens in a car together until a young girl hit my wife’s car from behind . Absolutely totally avoidable - never should’ve happened in any circumstance. But the girl was likely yapping and carrying on with other teens in the car and didn’t notice . Teens tend of underestimate how difficult and serious an undertaking it is to drive a car .
The adjuster who looked at the totaled car said he never lets his teen drive with just other teens , he’s seen it happen so often

Very sad. Hope the phone was not a factor. Teens tend to think they are invincible. These days they are not the only ones who think like that. Adults are putting on makeup, eating, texting and chatting on the phone like no one else exists.
Driving is an immense responsibility. A car is a killing machine that weighs thousands of pounds. Love your life and respect the lives of others.
